Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is a strong fit for players who want a playable archive of the series’ arcade roots, not a complete modern fighting-game package. Its 12 games trace the original Street Fighter through successive Street Fighter II revisions, the Alpha trilogy and early Street Fighter III. A Museum and other historical features make the collection feel like more than a menu of old games. The qualification is important: online play and Training Mode are available in only four titles, and official feature listings do not establish how active matchmaking is today.

What’s in the collection?

Capcom’s collection groups 12 arcade titles across four stages of the series’ history. The five Street Fighter II versions document an evolving game rather than five wholly unrelated entries; the three Alpha games and three Street Fighter III games offer their own distinct chapters.

Part of the series Included games What the group represents
Original Street Fighter The starting point of the arcade lineage.
Street Fighter II Street Fighter II; Street Fighter II: Champion Edition; Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting; Super Street Fighter II; Super Street Fighter II Turbo A sequence of revisions that makes the series’ arcade-era development part of the collection’s appeal.
Street Fighter Alpha Street Fighter Alpha; Street Fighter Alpha 2; Street Fighter Alpha 3 Three entries from the next major branch of the series.
Street Fighter III Street Fighter III; Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact; Street Fighter III: Third Strike The early Street Fighter III games, including Third Strike.

The count is a selling point if you enjoy comparing versions and tracing how the games changed. It is less persuasive if you expect 12 completely different experiences: several entries are successive editions of the same foundational game.

Is it a worthwhile celebration of Street Fighter?

For an arcade-history collection, the package has a useful balance: the games are accompanied by a Museum with concept art, pitch documents and release-history material, plus an interactive timeline, character biographies, sprite and animation viewing, and a music player. Those extras give curious players ways to explore the series’ production and presentation beyond playing matches.

Capcom’s December 2017 announcement described the franchise as having sold 40 million units at that time. That is a historical publisher statement, not a current sales total. It helps explain the scale of the legacy being celebrated, but the collection’s archive features and games are the more direct reasons to value this particular release.

Which games have online play and Training Mode?

Capcom identifies four games with online play: Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter III: Third Strike. Training Mode is available in those same four games, as is local Versus Mode. The other eight titles should not be treated as having those features.

Capcom’s 2017 announcement described ranked and casual matches, lobbies for up to four players, leaderboards and rewind-style rollback technology with an input-latency adjustment. This documents the announced feature set; it does not tell buyers how many people are playing now or how matchmaking performs today. If online competition is your main reason to buy, check current activity on your platform before purchasing.

Training and Versus were announced as additions following fan feedback and were slated for a day-one patch requiring an internet connection to download. That is launch-era information, not an indication that every current installation needs the patch.

How does it play as a single-player and local collection?

Capcom says Arcade Mode lets players save progress and continue later. The collection also provides save states for single-player progress, a practical convenience alongside its arcade-focused presentation. The available feature information does not establish input fidelity or performance across platforms, so those should not be assumed from the feature list alone.

A small interface detail can catch new players: launching a game starts Attract Mode, so press the default start control to begin. Capcom Support, updated July 2026, lists Enter on PC, the DualShock 4 touchpad on PS4, Minus on Switch and View on Xbox One.

What is different about the Nintendo Switch version?

The clearest documented platform-specific extra is Super Street Fighter II: The Tournament Battle, an arcade mode recreated for Switch. It was designed around four networked cabinets and a bracket for as many as eight players. Nintendo’s UK listing also specifies local wireless play for two to eight players, making Switch the version to consider if this group-play feature matters to you.

Nintendo’s UK listing gives the Switch game a one-to-two-player single-system mode, two-to-eight-player local wireless, and two-to-four-player online play. Online play requires internet access and a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, according to that listing. These details are specific to Nintendo’s UK product page and may vary with region or change over time.

What platforms and formats are available?

Capcom announced releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam/PC. Nintendo UK lists both a Switch Game Card edition and a download version, with a May 29, 2018 release date and a 5.0 GB download size. It also lists Pro Controller compatibility. Current availability and purchase terms depend on market and edition.

Steam lists Digital Eclipse as developer and Capcom U.S.A. as publisher, with a May 29, 2018 release date. Its listed minimum PC requirements are Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i3 at 3.0 GHz or AMD equivalent, 4 GB RAM, a GTX 470 or Radeon R7 260X 2 GB-class graphics card, DirectX 11 and 6 GB of storage. Steam also lists XInput and DirectInput USB device compatibility, including gamepads and arcade sticks; that does not mean a particular controller is required. Store requirements and regional editions can change, so check the relevant listing before buying.

Who should buy it?

  • Good fit: players who want several landmark arcade-era entries together, appreciate historical context, or enjoy comparing revisions within the Street Fighter II line.
  • Consider carefully: players primarily seeking a modern competitive suite. Only four games include online play and Training Mode, and present-day matchmaking activity is not established by the official listings.
  • Switch-specific reason: the recreated Tournament Battle mode and local wireless support for up to eight players may make the Switch edition especially appealing for group play.

The collection is most convincing when judged as an archive that you can play, rather than as a one-stop home for every classic game or a guaranteed route into a busy online scene. Its historical breadth and Museum make it a worthy celebration for series fans; buyers with narrower competitive priorities should weigh the limited selection of online-enabled games separately.
