Street Fighter 6 treats an outfit and its color as two separate choices. An outfit slot is the costume design itself—such as Outfit 1, Outfit 2, or Outfit 3—while a color is a palette applied to that selected outfit. Unlocking a color does not unlock another costume, and a color selected for one outfit should not be assumed to carry over to every other outfit.
The exact slots, unlock routes, and promotional offers change with character releases and updates. The clearest way to customize a fighter is therefore to choose the character, select the outfit slot you own, and then choose one of the colors available for that slot. Paid passes, earned progression, Fighter Coins, and temporary campaigns can each provide different pieces of that system.

Outfit slots and colors are different things
Street Fighter 6’s customization has two layers:
- Outfit: the costume design or slot. The game currently refers to these as Outfit 1, Outfit 2, and Outfit 3 where those costumes exist for a fighter.
- Color: a palette for the selected outfit. A color changes the appearance of that costume; it does not create a new costume design.
That distinction matters when you are checking a pass, an unlock condition, or a promotional code. “Outfit 1 Colors 3–10,” for example, means additional palettes for Outfit 1. It does not mean that Outfit 2 is included. Conversely, an Outfit 2 or Outfit 3 entitlement gives you a different costume slot; it should not be read as a promise that every color for every other outfit is unlocked.

How to change a character’s costume color
The practical sequence is the same conceptually even when menu labels differ by mode or update: select the fighter, choose the outfit slot, then choose a color belonging to that outfit. The game only displays colors that your account has unlocked or received.
- Open the fighter-selection or customization screen in the mode where you want to use the character.
- Select the character’s outfit slot. Treat Outfit 1, Outfit 2, and Outfit 3 as separate costume designs, not as color pages.
- Open the color choices for that outfit. Select an available palette. Locked entries remain unavailable until their stated requirement is met.
- Confirm the selection and start the match or activity. If the chosen palette does not appear, return to the outfit list and verify that you selected the correct slot first.
Because Capcom adds fighters, costumes, and time-limited colors, the current in-game description is the authoritative label for a particular character. A color listed for Outfit 1 should not be expected to appear while Outfit 2 is selected.
What the Character Pass and Ultimate Pass include
Capcom’s June 29, 2026 pass announcement separates character content from costume content. Every cited pass requires ownership of the Street Fighter 6 base game; the pass is not a stand-alone way to play the game.

The official wording is explicit: “Each Ultimate Pass includes all Character Pass content, plus Outfit 2 & 3 costumes and additional Drive Tickets.” Read that as a bundle description, not as a complete account of every fighter’s current slots or every possible acquisition route.

For the Year 4 Ultimate Pass, Capcom’s 2026 announcement specifies that Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 each include Colors 1–10. That numeric statement applies to the Year 4 content described in that announcement; it should not be generalized to every character or every earlier pass.
How to unlock Outfit 2
There is no single universal Outfit 2 recipe for the entire roster. Capcom has documented earned routes for some characters through Avatar Arcade progression or conditions in World Tour. The exact requirement is character-specific and can change with a content update.
Earned route through Avatar Arcade
When a character’s current guidance identifies Avatar Arcade as the route, complete the progression or challenge stated for that fighter. The reward is tied to that character’s Outfit 2; completing an unrelated avatar activity should not be assumed to unlock every fighter’s costume.
Earned route through World Tour
Some fighters use a World Tour condition instead. Follow the objective shown for the relevant character and check the reward notice before assuming the costume has been granted. World Tour progress and character-specific conditions are not interchangeable with a color unlock.

Paid route through a pass
An Ultimate Pass can include Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 costumes for its covered content. This is a bundle entitlement rather than an earned World Tour or Avatar Arcade reward. The base game is still required, and the pass must cover the character and content in question.
When a fighter has both an earned route and a paid route, compare the current in-game requirement with the pass description. Do not rely on a guide written for an earlier patch: Capcom’s announcements describe routes and bundles at particular points in the game’s release schedule.
Are all costume colors free or included with a pass?
No. The official information supports several different cases, not one roster-wide rule.
- A Character Pass specifically includes Outfit 1 Colors 3–10 for its covered character content.
- An Ultimate Pass adds Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 costumes in addition to the Character Pass content.
- Some Outfit 2 costumes can be earned through Avatar Arcade or World Tour conditions.
- Year 3 Outfit 3 costumes were announced as part of that year’s Ultimate Pass and as individual purchases with Fighter Coins.
- Promotional colors can have their own ownership, platform, and code requirements.
Therefore, first identify whether you need a new costume slot or merely another palette. Then check the current character page, pass description, or campaign terms for that exact item. The reviewed announcements do not establish a universal price, free-unlock rule, or color carryover policy for the entire roster.

How promotional colors can differ
Limited campaigns may impose requirements that do not apply to ordinary outfit colors. In Capcom’s October 2026 M. Bison movie commemorative color campaign, the listed conditions included the base game, the applicable Year 2 DLC, and that character’s Outfit 2. The color became usable after Outfit 2 was acquired if the code was entered first.
That campaign also specified supported platforms and a bounded code period. Those details belong to that offer; they are not a general rule for every special color. Before entering a code, read the live campaign page for the eligible platform, territory, ownership requirements, and expiration date. A code outside its stated window or for an unsupported platform may not grant the color even when the correct fighter is selected.

Do you need an amiibo?
No. An amiibo is optional and is not required to change a fighter’s ordinary outfit or color. Capcom’s official manual describes amiibo as an additional feature that can provide amiibo-only items and store selected fighter settings.
The manual says: “You can write your favorite character’s outfit, outfit color and button presets to the amiibo.” In practical terms, an amiibo can remember a preferred fighter configuration for later use; it does not replace the underlying ownership or unlock requirement for a costume.

The manual’s amiibo function is available from Battle Hub or World Tour. If you are trying to use the feature from another area and cannot find it, move to one of those supported modes and follow the current on-screen amiibo prompts. Compatible figure availability is separate from the game’s digital costume entitlements, so confirm compatibility and stock before buying a physical figure.
Fighter costumes versus your World Tour avatar
A fighter’s Outfit 1, Outfit 2, or Outfit 3 and your World Tour avatar’s clothing are separate customization systems. The official material reviewed here explains fighter outfit colors and amiibo settings, but it does not establish that a fighter’s palette can be applied as an avatar-clothing dye or that fighter colors transfer to avatar garments.
Do not treat a newly unlocked fighter color as an avatar-color unlock. If you want to change avatar clothing, use the avatar customization options shown in World Tour rather than assuming that the fighter’s costume menu controls it.

Troubleshooting missing outfits and colors
The color is still locked
- Confirm that the correct outfit slot is selected. A color for Outfit 1 will not necessarily appear under Outfit 2.
- Check whether the entry belongs to a pass, Fighter Coin listing, earned reward, or temporary campaign.
- Restart the relevant mode after claiming downloadable content and verify that the account and platform are the same ones used for the purchase.
Outfit 2 did not unlock after progression
- Read the current character-specific objective; an Avatar Arcade route and a World Tour route are not interchangeable.
- Verify that the reward was for the fighter you selected, rather than for another character’s progression.
- Check the latest in-game guidance because unlock conditions can change with updates.
A promotional color does not work
- Confirm that the base game, required DLC, and named outfit are owned.
- Check the campaign’s supported platform and territory.
- Verify that the code is still within its stated redemption period.
- If the campaign says the outfit must be acquired after code entry, obtain that outfit and then recheck the color list.
A reliable checklist before you spend or redeem
- Write down the exact item: Outfit 2, Outfit 3, an Outfit 1 color, or a promotional color.
- Check whether the source is World Tour, Avatar Arcade, a Character Pass, an Ultimate Pass, Fighter Coins, or a code campaign.
- Confirm the character and outfit slot covered by that source.
- Check the base-game and DLC prerequisites.
- For a code, verify platform eligibility and expiry before redemption.
- After claiming the item, select the outfit first and then its color in the fighter customization screen.
This order prevents the most common misunderstanding: purchasing or earning a palette is not the same as unlocking a new costume design.
