Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteShort answer: Standard is enough for the complete launch game and its 18-character roster. The launch-era Deluxe Edition added the four Year 1 characters, their Outfit 1 color sets and Drive Tickets; launch-era Ultimate added those items plus extra costumes, stages and more Drive Tickets. Those names no longer tell the whole purchasing story: current stores also sell newer bundles and separate Year 1–4 passes. Choose by the characters and add-ons you actually want, then verify the live listing for your platform and region.
What each launch edition contained
The original comparison is still useful when a listing, boxed copy or account page uses the 2023 launch terminology. PlayStation Blog’s December 8, 2022 announcement described three editions. The prices below were United States launch prices, not current prices, and the contents were the planned Year 1 packages at launch. See the original announcement at PlayStation Blog.

Standard Edition
Standard includes the actual game rather than a trial or limited mode set. Its three headline modes are Fighting Ground, the traditional match-focused area; World Tour, a single-player story and exploration mode; and Battle Hub, the online social space where players meet and play. The launch package had 18 playable characters. Steam’s listing describes the same core structure and notes that some features require an internet connection and a Capcom ID: Street Fighter 6 on Steam.

#1 Best Overall
- Classic Experience Built for a Modern Era: With all core gameplay modes present, plus two brand new modes and enhanced visuals, Street Fighter 6 redefines the classic fighting game genre.
- Distinct Fighting Styles to Master: 18 diverse characters including legendary World Warriors and exciting brand new characters add their own flair to the game at launch, with more to be added post-launch.
- Brand New Game Modes: The Street Fighter franchise continues to hone its skills and redefine the fighting genre with the introduction of three new foundational modes – Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub.
- In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.
- Two New Control Schemes: Classic Controls returns alongside two brand new options: Modern Controls allow you to perform special attacks with simple button combinations and are designed for players who want to fight without memorizing and practicing special move button combinations first. Dynamic Controls only require a press of the Auto-Attack button to perform attacks and is a great control type to use when you have friends and family over for a quick, casual game.
Deluxe Edition
Deluxe was the character-focused upgrade at launch. It included the base game and the Year 1 Character Pass. That pass covered four post-launch fighters, Outfit 1 colors 3–10 for each of those fighters, and 4,200 Drive Tickets. Drive Tickets are in-game currency tied to the game’s customization and item systems; the pass allocation is not a promise that every cosmetic item is included.
The practical question was whether those four Year 1 fighters mattered to you. If they did, Deluxe avoided buying the base game and the first character pass as separate products. If they did not, its extra cost bought content you might never use.
Ultimate Edition
Ultimate was the broadest launch bundle. It included everything in the Year 1 Character Pass, then added two more costumes and alternate colors for each of the four Year 1 characters, two additional stages and 7,700 Drive Tickets. The larger currency allocation and cosmetics were the reason to choose it; it did not unlock a different core mode or a superior version of Fighting Ground, World Tour or Battle Hub.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDo not confuse this launch product with a later DLC product called an Ultimate Pass. The original Ultimate Edition bundled the Year 1 Ultimate Pass with the base game. A current store can sell an Ultimate Pass separately for a player who already owns the game.
Why the names are different in current stores
Street Fighter 6 has expanded well beyond its launch-year packages. Steam currently presents the base game and a Years 1–2 Fighters Edition bundle, while also listing Year 1 through Year 4 Character Passes and Ultimate Passes as separate add-ons. The PlayStation Store likewise lists Standard Edition, Years 1–2 Fighters Edition and individual passes. The live pages can change as bundles, promotions and platform catalogs change. Check the listing for your own account territory rather than relying on an old screenshot or a launch-price article.
Rank #2

| What a current listing may show | What to verify before buying |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition | That it contains the base game you need and no character pass you expected to receive |
| Years 1–2 Fighters Edition | Whether the displayed bundle includes the base game, Year 1 Character Pass, Year 2 Character Pass, and the stated Years 1–2 stages and colors |
| Year 1–4 Character Passes | Which four-character pass is included, plus its stated Outfit 1 colors and Drive Tickets |
| Year 1–4 Ultimate Passes | Whether the pass adds the listed Outfit 2 and 3 costumes, stages and additional Drive Tickets for that year |

How Character Passes and Ultimate Passes work
Capcom’s June 29, 2026 announcement gives the current pattern for the later downloadable products. It states: “Each Character Pass includes 4 additional characters, plus Outfit 1 Colors 3-10 and Drive Tickets.” It also states: “Each Ultimate Pass includes all Character Pass content, plus Outfit 2 & 3 costumes and additional Drive Tickets.” Read the full notice at Capcom Town Store.

Character Pass
A Character Pass is the narrower option when your priority is the fighters. For each year, it packages four additional characters, the specified Outfit 1 color range and Drive Tickets. Capcom says Year 1 and Year 2 passes also include additional stages. The base game is required separately; buying a pass alone does not create a playable copy of Street Fighter 6.
Ultimate Pass
An Ultimate Pass contains its corresponding Character Pass content and adds Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 costumes plus additional Drive Tickets. The exact stage and costume list is year-specific, so read the individual product description rather than assuming that the original Year 1 Ultimate contents are identical to every later Ultimate Pass.
Which edition should you buy?
Choose Standard when the launch game is enough
- You want the 18-character launch roster and the three core modes.
- You are unsure which later fighters you will play and would rather add a pass later.
- A current bundle’s included characters or cosmetics do not match your interests.
Standard is also the least complicated starting point for a household sharing one copy or for someone deciding whether World Tour, Fighting Ground and Battle Hub fit their play style.
Rank #3
- Stunning visuals and an all new battle system depicts the world of Street Fighter with unprecedented detail.
- For the first time ever, SF6 provides an ever evolving immersive storytelling experience that gives power to the player to create their own World Warrior and truly engage in the Street Fighter Universe
- SF6 provides the gold standard fighting experience for both casual and battle-tested pros can enjoy for years to come.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the international version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions. DLC content may not work unless using an EU Playstation account as stated this is an EU Import Region Free Version
Choose a Deluxe-style or character bundle when fighters are the priority
- You want the four characters in the relevant Character Pass.
- You value their Outfit 1 color sets but do not care about the larger costume, stage and currency package.
- The live bundle costs less than buying the game and the same pass separately in your region.
For a new purchase today, this may appear as a Years 1–2 Fighters Edition or as a base-game-plus-pass combination rather than a product literally named Deluxe.
Choose an Ultimate-style bundle when the extras have value to you
- You intend to play all four characters in the pass.
- You specifically want the additional costumes, alternate colors and stages.
- You will use the larger Drive Ticket allocation and the current bundle’s total is favorable compared with separate purchases.
Ultimate is not automatically the best value. Its advantage is breadth, and breadth only helps if the listed cosmetics, stages and characters are on your personal want list.
A five-minute buying checklist
- Open the correct platform store. Use the Steam listing for a PC purchase or the PlayStation listing for a PlayStation purchase. Sign in so the store can account for ownership and regional availability.
- Record the base-game status. Confirm whether the product includes Street Fighter 6 itself. Capcom explicitly says a separate base-game purchase is required to use Character and Ultimate Passes.
- List the characters you want. Match each desired fighter to the Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 or Year 4 pass shown on the product page.
- Check the non-character items. Look for Outfit 1 colors, Outfit 2 and 3 costumes, alternate colors, additional stages and the stated Drive Ticket amount.
- Compare the total, not the badge. Add the current base-game price and each required pass, then compare that total with the current bundle in your territory. Launch prices of $59.99, $84.99 and $104.99 are historical reference figures only.
- Confirm format and ownership. A physical disc, a digital entitlement and a DLC pass can have different redemption and platform requirements. Make sure the pass is for the same platform family and account that owns the game.
- Read the final checkout description. Store pages and promotions can change; verify the contents immediately before payment.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Using launch prices as current prices
The 2023 US prices explain how the original tiers were positioned, but they are not a 2026 price list. Currency conversion, regional pricing, sales and replacement bundles make a historical number unreliable for a present-day purchase.
Assuming “Ultimate” always means the same package
“Ultimate Edition” refers to the launch bundle that included the base game and Year 1 Ultimate Pass. “Ultimate Pass” is a later DLC product. Check whether the page is selling a complete game bundle or add-on content for an existing owner.
Buying a pass without the game
Passes add content; they do not replace the base game. If your library does not already contain Street Fighter 6, choose a bundle that explicitly includes it or buy the base game separately.
Rank #4
- Includes 26 fighters and 20 dynamic stages from Years 1 & 2 content.
- Unlock Outfit 1 Colors 3–10 and access full base game content.
- Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive modes: Gyro Battle, Calorie Contest & more.
- Play using any control style—Classic, Modern, or Dynamic on Joy-Con.
- Supports local wireless, online multiplayer, and Tabletop Mode for portable play.
Assuming every year has identical extras
Capcom’s general rule covers four characters, Outfit 1 colors and Drive Tickets for Character Passes, with Outfit 2 and 3 costumes and more Drive Tickets in Ultimate Passes. Stage inclusions are specifically noted for Years 1 and 2, so inspect each year’s description for its exact contents.
Ignoring online requirements
Steam says some elements require an internet connection and a Capcom ID. Offline expectations should therefore be checked against the platform’s current requirements before purchase, particularly if you mainly want Battle Hub or other online-dependent features.
What the sales milestone does—and does not—tell you
Capcom announced that Street Fighter 6 surpassed 5 million units sold worldwide in 2025. The figure covers total game sales, not a breakdown by Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate or later bundle, so it cannot establish that one edition is more popular or better value. See Capcom’s release dated June 11, 2025: Street Fighter 6 sales announcement.
Bottom line for different buyers
If you only need the launch game, buy Standard. If a particular group of four later fighters is your reason for purchasing, choose the matching Character Pass or a current bundle that includes it. Add an Ultimate Pass—or an Ultimate-style bundle—only when its costumes, stages and extra Drive Tickets matter enough to justify the current regional difference. Because the catalog has moved from the original three launch tiers to Years 1–4 products, the decisive evidence is the itemized contents on your platform’s live store page, not the name printed on an old comparison chart.
