Short answer: Buy Street Fighter 6 if you want the current mainline game, modern matchmaking, confirmed cross-play, Battle Hub and the World Tour campaign. Buy Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection if you want arcade-era preservation and twelve classic games in one package. The collection is not an all-games online bundle: Capcom identifies only four of its twelve titles as supporting online play.
Which Street Fighter game should you buy?
Your choice depends on whether you value a current competitive game or a historical compilation. This is the practical split:

|---|---|---|
| Cross-platform modern matchmaking | Street Fighter 6 | It is the current multiplatform release, has confirmed cross-play, and includes Battle Hub and World Tour. |
| Arcade history and preservation | Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection | It gathers twelve classic games spanning Street Fighter I, II, Alpha and III. |
| Online play in the classic collection | Four specific titles in the collection | Online support is limited to Street Fighter II’ Champion Edition, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. |
The two products serve different purposes rather than replacing one another. Street Fighter 6 is designed as an active, modern fighting game with a connected social space and a story-driven avatar mode. The 30th Anniversary Collection is a museum-like package of arcade versions, with online functionality added to only selected entries.

Capcom lists Street Fighter 6 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. The original console and PC launch was June 2, 2023. The Nintendo Switch 2 release followed on June 5, 2025. That means a PS4 owner can buy a PS4 version, while a PS5 owner can buy the PS5 version; both are official platforms for the same current mainline entry.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning visuals and an all new battle system depicts the world of Street Fighter with unprecedented detail.
- For the first time ever, SF6 provides an ever evolving immersive storytelling experience that gives power to the player to create their own World Warrior and truly engage in the Street Fighter Universe
- SF6 provides the gold standard fighting experience for both casual and battle-tested pros can enjoy for years to come.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the international version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions. DLC content may not work unless using an EU Playstation account as stated this is an EU Import Region Free Version
What makes Street Fighter 6 different from the collection?
- Battle Hub: an online social space where players meet and interact around the game.
- World Tour: an avatar-led campaign in which you create a character and travel through the Street Fighter universe.
- Current-generation support: the game is available across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC rather than being confined to legacy hardware.
- Cross-play: Capcom says the Switch 2 version supports playing together across different platforms.
World Tour and Battle Hub answer different needs. World Tour is the campaign-style option for learning the setting and building an avatar. Battle Hub is the social, connected destination for meeting other players. If your main reason for buying is contemporary online competition with friends on another system, Street Fighter 6 is the relevant purchase.
Street Fighter 6 editions and what to verify before buying
Edition names for Street Fighter 6 change by territory and storefront. Official material does not provide one stable, region-neutral table of every SKU and its character-pass contents. A bundle name seen on one retailer may therefore differ from the name or included downloadable content shown in another country.
Before paying, open the live product page for your own platform and region and check three things:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Platform label: confirm whether the listing is for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 or PC. Do not assume a console listing covers another generation.
- Edition contents: read the included character passes or other downloadable items exactly as the retailer describes them. The names and contents of bundles can change over time.
- Upgrade or entitlement wording: check whether the listing grants one platform version, multiple versions or a platform-specific license. The official platform list establishes availability, but it does not establish a universal cross-generation upgrade policy.
For a straightforward purchase, select the standard version offered for your hardware unless you specifically want a currently listed add-on bundle. Because prices, stock and downloadable-content lineups are time- and region-dependent, those details must be checked at the moment of purchase rather than inferred from an old edition name.
Street Fighter 6 platforms, release dates and cross-play
| Game | Platforms identified by Capcom | Release information | Online and cross-play information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Street Fighter 6 | PlayStation 5; PlayStation 4; Xbox Series X|S; Nintendo Switch 2; PC | Console and PC launch: June 2, 2023; Switch 2 release: June 5, 2025 | Capcom confirms cross-play, stating that users can play together across different platforms. |
| Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection | PlayStation 4; Xbox One; Nintendo Switch; PC | The collection is the legacy-platform compilation listed for these systems. | Online play is available only in four named games in the collection. |
Yes, Street Fighter 6 is available on both PS4 and PS5. It is also on Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC. Capcom’s cross-play statement is broad: it says the Switch 2 version lets users enjoy the game together across different platforms. The statement confirms cross-platform play as a feature, but it does not promise cross-progression, shared purchases or identical performance between every pair of systems. Treat those as separate questions and verify any platform-specific account or entitlement terms shown by the store.

What is included in Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection?
The collection contains twelve arcade-era games from four periods of the series. The titles are:

| Series era | Games included | Online status identified by Capcom |
|---|---|---|
| Street Fighter I | Street Fighter | Not one of the four titles listed for online play. |
| Street Fighter II | Street Fighter II; Street Fighter II’ Champion Edition; Street Fighter II’ Hyper Fighting; Super Street Fighter II; Super Street Fighter II Turbo | Street Fighter II’ Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter II Turbo support online play. |
| Street Fighter Alpha | Street Fighter Alpha; Street Fighter Alpha 2; Street Fighter Alpha 3 | Street Fighter Alpha 3 supports online play. |
| Street Fighter III | Street Fighter III; Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact; Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike | Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike supports online play. |
This lineup is about seeing how the series changed from its first arcade release through the different Street Fighter II revisions, the Alpha games and the Street Fighter III generation. The revisions are separate entries, so the package gives you multiple versions of the same historical branches rather than one modernized edition of each era.
Which games in the 30th Anniversary Collection can you play online?
Only four entries have online versions according to Capcom’s support information:
- Street Fighter II’ Champion Edition
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Street Fighter Alpha 3
- Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Online play is therefore not enabled for all twelve games. If a particular favorite is outside that list, buying the collection does not turn it into an online title. Sony’s PlayStation description specifies online Arcade Mode and an online lobby for the four supported games, and notes that PlayStation Plus is required for online play on PS4.

- Classic Experience Built for a Modern Era: With all core gameplay modes present, plus two brand new modes and enhanced visuals, Street Fighter 6 redefines the classic fighting game genre.
- Distinct Fighting Styles to Master: 18 diverse characters including legendary World Warriors and exciting brand new characters add their own flair to the game at launch, with more to be added post-launch.
- Brand New Game Modes: The Street Fighter franchise continues to hone its skills and redefine the fighting genre with the introduction of three new foundational modes – Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub.
- In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.
- Two New Control Schemes: Classic Controls returns alongside two brand new options: Modern Controls allow you to perform special attacks with simple button combinations and are designed for players who want to fight without memorizing and practicing special move button combinations first. Dynamic Controls only require a press of the Auto-Attack button to perform attacks and is a great control type to use when you have friends and family over for a quick, casual game.
Capcom describes the collection’s netcode as using “rewind” technology intended to provide low-latency matches. The in-game menu also lets players adjust input latency. Those settings are useful when a connection or personal preference makes the default feel different from the timing you want, but they are not a guarantee of a perfect connection in every match.
How to choose by platform
If you own a PS4
You can choose between the PS4 version of Street Fighter 6 and the PS4 version of the 30th Anniversary Collection. Choose Street Fighter 6 for the current game, Battle Hub, World Tour and cross-play. Choose the collection for its twelve-game historical library. For the collection’s online modes, Sony states that PS Plus is required on PS4.
If you own a PS5
Street Fighter 6 is the current PlayStation choice listed for PS5. The 30th Anniversary Collection is listed as a PS4 product, so check the PlayStation store’s compatibility and entitlement wording before assuming a PS5-specific edition or feature set.
If you own an Xbox
Street Fighter 6 is listed for Xbox Series X|S. The 30th Anniversary Collection is listed for Xbox One. Match the game’s platform label to your console generation and review the store page for any compatibility wording before buying.
If you own Nintendo hardware
Street Fighter 6 is available on Nintendo Switch 2, with the Switch 2 release dated June 5, 2025. The 30th Anniversary Collection is listed for Nintendo Switch. These are different products on different Nintendo hardware generations, so select the listing that matches the console you actually use.
Rank #4
If you play on PC
Both Street Fighter 6 and the 30th Anniversary Collection are listed for PC. The newer game is the choice for modern cross-platform play and its Battle Hub and World Tour features; the collection is the choice for the twelve classic arcade titles and the four designated online versions.
Do you need both games?
Most players need only one. Buy Street Fighter 6 when your priority is playing the current mainline release with people on other platforms. Buy the 30th Anniversary Collection when your priority is studying or revisiting the arcade lineage, especially the different Street Fighter II, Alpha and III revisions. Owning both makes sense only if you want the modern game and the historical archive; their core purposes are complementary rather than interchangeable.
What the sales figures tell you—and what they do not
Capcom reported more than five million Street Fighter 6 units sold worldwide by June 2025 and more than seven million by June 2026. Capcom also reported that the Street Fighter series had exceeded 59 million cumulative units as of March 31, 2026. These are worldwide company sales milestones, not measurements of current online population, regional activity or queue times.
Those figures establish that Street Fighter 6 is the commercially current entry, while the 30th Anniversary Collection remains the preservation-focused option. They cannot tell you whether a specific mode is busy at the hour you play, so do not use the sales totals as a substitute for a live matchmaking estimate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsA practical buying checklist
- Decide whether you want a current competitive game or a twelve-title historical compilation.
- Match the product listing to your exact hardware: PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch 2, Switch or PC.
- For Street Fighter 6, verify the edition name and every included character pass on your region’s live store page.
- For the collection, remember that online play is limited to four named games, not the entire twelve-game set.
- If you plan to play the collection online on PS4, budget for the PlayStation Plus requirement identified by Sony.
- Do not infer cross-progression, shared DLC ownership or identical technical performance from the existence of cross-play alone.
- Do not use sales totals to predict queue times; Capcom has not published a current regional matchmaking measurement in the material covered here.
In short, Street Fighter 6 is the clear recommendation for a new buyer who wants the active, cross-platform mainline experience. The 30th Anniversary Collection is the better fit for an arcade-history library, with online competition concentrated in four carefully selected classics.
