What was Summer Game Fest 2024?
Summer Game Fest 2024 was the fifth annual edition of Geoff Keighley’s multi-publisher games showcase. It was presented live from the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in the Los Angeles area and was designed to bring announcements, trailers, first looks, release dates and updates from multiple publishers into one broadcast.
It was not a single-platform event. Unlike a PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Direct, the showcase covered games across PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo platforms. More than 55 companies were promoted as partners before the show, although a company appearing on that list did not guarantee that a particular game would be shown.

“Summer Game Fest” can also refer to the broader June schedule of presentations, demos and industry events. The main Geoff Keighley-hosted showcase was only one part of that calendar.
It is sometimes compared with E3 because it occupies a similar place on the gaming calendar, but SGF was not a unified trade show controlled by every major publisher. Individual companies still ran their own presentations and announcements separately.
How to watch the Summer Game Fest 2024 replay
The clearest option is the official YouTube replay. The broadcast was also distributed through:
- YouTube
- Twitch
- TikTok
- X
- Steam
- International broadcast partners
- Publisher and media co-streams
YouTube is the most useful choice for a historical viewing because the official upload can be paused, revisited and navigated through its timestamps. Twitch may be preferable for live chat, while Steam is convenient for viewers primarily interested in PC games. Co-streams can add commentary, but creators may start late, interrupt the broadcast or omit sections because of copyright restrictions.

When did the main showcase air?
| Region | Start time |
|---|---|
| Pacific Time | 2 p.m. |
| Eastern Time | 5 p.m. |
| GMT | 10 p.m. |
| British Summer Time | 11 p.m. |
| Central European Summer Time | 11 p.m. |
The official venue announcement used 10 p.m. GMT. Because the United Kingdom was observing daylight-saving time on June 7, that corresponded to 11 p.m. BST, not 10 p.m. BST. Continental Europe similarly watched at 11 p.m. CEST.
How long was it?
The main showcase was promoted as lasting approximately two hours. It was followed immediately by Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition, a separate program focused particularly on independent games.
The official event promotion described a mixture of new announcements, first looks, trailers and updates. That meant the lineup was not made up entirely of brand-new game reveals: some segments showed new gameplay, release dates, platform announcements, story trailers or seasonal updates for previously announced titles.
The biggest games and announcements

- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind: A retro-styled beat-’em-up from Digital Eclipse.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What was confirmed before the show?
Before the broadcast, the event’s promotional material and publisher announcements signposted a broad group of games, including LEGO Horizon Adventures, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Batman: Arkham Shadow, Slitterhead, The First Descendant, Valorant on consoles, Monster Hunter Wilds, Phantom Blade Zero, Star Wars Outlaws, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dune: Awakening, New World: Aeternum, Sonic X Shadow Generations and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.
Those signposts did not all describe the same type of appearance. A title could receive a world premiere, gameplay footage, a trailer, a release date, a platform announcement or a smaller update. “Confirmed” should therefore be understood as confirmed event relevance or appearance—not necessarily a confirmed launch date, new reveal or full gameplay demonstration.

Rumors and leaks were not reliable substitutes for official confirmation. A game should not have been treated as guaranteed merely because its publisher appeared on the partner list, it had appeared at an earlier SGF event, a trailer was rumored online or it was associated with the wider June showcase calendar.
The wider Summer Game Fest 2024 schedule
Several major events took place around the main showcase:
- Main Summer Game Fest showcase: Friday, June 7, 2024.
- Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition: Immediately after the main presentation, with an emphasis on independent games.
- Devolver Direct: A separate presentation in the wider event calendar.
- Xbox Games Showcase: Sunday, June 9, 2024, with its own stream and announcements.
These events should not be presented as one continuous SGF broadcast. Readers looking for the complete June schedule needed to follow each organizer’s individual stream and replay.
The Epic Games Store’s 2024 event guide provides useful context for the surrounding schedule, while the official Xbox recap covers that Sunday’s separate presentation.
Where to find the complete replay and game-by-game sequence
For the full presentation, use the official Summer Game Fest livestream archive. A separate timestamped presentation video can help viewers jump directly to individual announcements.
For a written roundup, VGC’s announcement summary and GameSpot’s announcement gallery cover the major reveals and updates. The official Summer Game Fest site contains the event’s broader information.
What viewers should take away
Summer Game Fest 2024 was best understood as a two-hour, multi-publisher showcase rather than a promise of one blockbuster reveal after another. Its most useful announcements covered several categories: new games such as LEGO Horizon Adventures and Civilization VII; release dates for games such as The First Descendant and Slitterhead; new platform details for Valorant and New World: Aeternum; and fresh looks at major upcoming releases including Monster Hunter Wilds and Phantom Blade Zero.
For historical viewing, start with the official YouTube replay, then watch Day of the Devs separately if independent games are your priority. Treat the partner list and pre-show rumors as context, not as a definitive list of games guaranteed to appear.
