Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park launched on March 26, 2026. It includes the original Nintendo Switch game and a Switch 2 upgrade pack with new multiplayer activities, characters, courses, and other additions. If you already own the original game, you can buy the upgrade pack separately; the base game is still required.
What’s new in the Switch 2 Edition?
The edition keeps the original Super Mario Bros. Wonder and adds new content and features for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s release announcement and feature overview describe the main additions.
Meetup in Bellabel Park
Bellabel Park is a new area in the Flower Kingdom, built around multiplayer attractions and training challenges. Its two plazas include co-op and competitive activities, as well as the Toad Brigade Training Camp. Individual attractions can set their own player limits, so the overall game’s maximum player count does not apply to every activity.
New characters, courses, and abilities
- Rosalina and Co-Star Luma: Both join the playable cast. Co-Star Luma can be controlled with Nintendo Switch 2 mouse controls.
- Koopalings courses: New boss courses feature all seven Koopalings.
- Super Flower Pot: A new transformation.
- Dual Badges: Badges that combine the effects of two badges.
More players together
Nintendo’s product listing specifies play for one to four players on one system, two to eight through local wireless, and one to twelve online. Nintendo also says the Switch 2 edition supports up to four players on the same system while playing online, and can show up to 11 live player shadows in a course, compared with up to two local players and three shadows previously. These are Nintendo’s stated specifications; the number of participants can vary by attraction.

Do existing owners need to buy the game again?
No. If you own the full original Nintendo Switch game, you can purchase the Switch 2 upgrade pack separately to get the added content and enhancements. The pack is not a standalone game: Nintendo says the base game is required and sold separately. Check that you are buying the upgrade pack rather than the complete edition if you already own the game.

Compatible Super Mario series amiibo can provide power-ups or Bellabel Park Camp Area decorations. Amiibo are optional accessories, not a requirement to access the game or its new activities.
