Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park launched on March 26, 2026, bringing new multiplayer attractions and other additions to Nintendo Switch 2. Bellabel Park has separate same-system and online or local-wireless play areas, with different player limits and hardware requirements. If you already own the original game, Nintendo offers a separate upgrade pack rather than requiring you to buy the full edition again.

What’s new in the Switch 2 Edition?

The headline addition is Bellabel Park, a new area split into two plazas for multiplayer attractions. Nintendo also lists a Toad Brigade Training Camp, Assist Mode, Rosalina, Co-Star Luma, and battles featuring the Koopalings. Nintendo describes the edition as adding co-op and competitive gameplay alongside other content and Switch 2 enhancements. Nintendo’s announcement does not give a complete feature-by-feature account of every enhancement.

How many players can play Bellabel Park?

The player count depends on the plaza and play mode. Local Multiplayer Plaza is for players sharing one system; Game Room Plaza uses each player’s own system for online or local wireless play.

Bellabel Park area Attractions Play mode and player limit
Local Multiplayer Plaza 17 attraction types Same system; up to three friends can join, for four players total.
Game Room Plaza Six additional attractions Online or local wireless, with each player using their own system; Nintendo says up to 12 friends can compete.

GameShare can let one player start a local session and share it with up to three other players. Nintendo says additional accessories may be required for multiplayer, so check the requirements for the setup you plan to use.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder : Standard - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]
  • Find wonder in the Flower Kingdom in the next side-scrolling Super Mario adventure
  • Collect Wonder Flowers for surprising, game-changing effects like pipes coming alive, an enemy stampede, and much, much more
  • Choose from the largest cast of characters in a side-scrolling Mario game, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy and other favorites
  • Ease into the action with four different-colored Yoshis and Nabbit who can’t take damage
  • Discover new power-ups like Elephant Fruit, which transforms Mario and friends into an elephant that can swing its trunk and spray water

Online and local wireless requirements

Online features require a Nintendo Account and a Nintendo Switch Online membership, which is sold separately. Nintendo also notes that internet access and regional availability limitations apply. Local wireless is a separate option from online play; the Game Room Plaza description calls for each player to use their own system.

What do Assist Mode and Co-Star Luma do?

Assist Mode can help soften mistakes: Nintendo says a player can recover from an unexpected fall without losing a life or avoid taking damage. Co-Star Luma is an assist character available when at least two people are playing together. It can defeat enemies and collect coins, and Nintendo says it can be controlled with Switch 2 mouse functionality.

Do you need to buy Wonder again if you own it on Switch?

No. If you own the original Super Mario Bros. Wonder and have a Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo says you can access the new content by purchasing the separate upgrade pack. The full original game is required. The upgrade pack is not a standalone copy of the game.

Full edition or upgrade pack: which purchase path fits?

Nintendo’s U.S. product page lists these regular prices. They are Nintendo-listed U.S. prices, not a guarantee of current retailer pricing; check your regional store listing for current availability and price.

Purchase path Who it suits Nintendo-listed U.S. regular price
Full Switch 2 Edition Someone buying the game and new content together. $79.99
Upgrade pack An owner of the original game who also has a Nintendo Switch 2. $19.99; requires the full original game.

Both paths require Nintendo Switch 2 to access this edition. The relevant difference is whether you already own the original game: the full edition is the listed path for a new buyer, while an eligible owner can buy the upgrade pack instead.

Are the amiibo and Talking Flower required?

No. Nintendo announced three separately sold amiibo—Elephant Mario, Poplin & Prince Florian, and Captain Toad & Talking Flower—as well as a Talking Flower novelty product. Nintendo does not identify these as prerequisites for the edition. The novelty Talking Flower was announced for March 12, 2026, at a U.S. regular price of $34.99; that is a separate product, not part of the game or upgrade pack.
