The edition adds Bellabel Park attractions, new courses and characters, and other features; Elephant Mario and Captain Toad & Talking Flower amiibo launched the same day. The game is already available, though prices and release timing can differ by region.
What is the Switch 2 Edition?
It is an expanded version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder for Nintendo Switch 2, not an edition for the original Switch. Players who own the original game can buy an upgrade pack on Switch 2 to access the new content; players without the original game need the full edition.
What’s new in Meetup in Bellabel Park?
Two plazas for multiplayer
Bellabel Park is a new Flower Kingdom area with two multiplayer hubs. The Local Multiplayer Plaza has 17 attraction types for up to four players on one system. With GameShare, one player can share locally with up to three others. The Game Room Plaza supports local wireless and online play; Nintendo says up to 12 friends can compete across its six additional attractions. Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account are required for online features.
Training and accessibility
The Toad Brigade Training Camp offers challenges in courses from the main game. Players can train alone or with up to three others. Assist Mode can help players recover from falls without losing a life or avoid taking damage.

New characters, courses, and power-up
Rosalina joins the cast, and Co-Star Luma can help in multiplayer by defeating enemies and collecting coins. On Switch 2, players can control Luma using mouse functionality. New boss courses scattered across the Flower Kingdom feature the seven Koopalings. The Super Flower Pot turns a character into flower form, allowing them to throw flowers.
How much does the game or upgrade cost?
Nintendo of America’s January 22, 2026 announcement listed US prices of $79.99 for the full Switch 2 Edition and $19.99 for the upgrade pack. These are announcement prices, not a guarantee of current price or availability; check the relevant regional Nintendo Store listing before buying.

Nintendo Support says the digital upgrade is available through Nintendo eShop on Switch 2 and Nintendo Store. The original game is a prerequisite, and the upgrade pack is separate from a physical game purchase.

Elephant Mario and Captain Toad & Talking Flower are separate amiibo figures in the Super Mario Bros. Wonder series, released March 26, 2026. Nintendo says amiibo can provide helpful power-ups during courses, while the Switch 2 Edition can also use scans to change Bellabel Park decorations. The figures are optional; the game and upgrade pack do not require them.

Elephant Mario
The figure depicts Mario in Elephant form, which players can access in the game by using an Elephant Fruit. The elephant trunk can attack enemies, break blocks, and more. Nintendo says the amiibo can provide helpful power-ups in both editions of Wonder and decorations in Camp Central in the Switch 2 Edition.
Captain Toad & Talking Flower
Nintendo describes Captain Toad as an explorer and treasure hunter who discovered ruins in Bellabel Park. The figure can provide helpful course power-ups and decorations in Camp Central. Nintendo’s US store listing identifies it as SKU 122219, UPC 00045496894405.

Amiibo compatibility and effects can vary by game, and a software update may be required. Nintendo’s descriptions do not establish a specific power-up effect for either of these individual figures.
