Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is no longer up for preorder: Nintendo lists its release date as October 2, 2025, and its US store offers the physical two-game bundle for purchase. Nintendo also announced separate digital versions. The Switch release adds enhanced resolution, new Storybook content, Assist Mode and other features; a free update enables 4K on Nintendo Switch 2 with a compatible display.
Has the game already been released?
Yes. The combined Nintendo Switch release launched on October 2, 2025, so “up for preorder” is now outdated. Nintendo’s US product listing identifies that date for the physical bundle.
What can you buy?
Physical bundle
Nintendo’s US listing names the physical edition Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 and says it includes both games. The listing establishes the bundle, not any particular retailer’s current price or stock.
Individual digital versions
Nintendo’s September 19, 2025 launch announcement said each game would also be available individually as a digital purchase through Nintendo eShop. The bundle and individual digital options serve different needs: choose the bundle for both games together, or check your regional eShop if you want only one. Store formats and availability may vary by region.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What is new in the Switch versions?
Nintendo describes improvements and additions to both games, including enhanced resolution, improved menus and interface, additional Storybook chapters, Assist Mode and Soundtrack Mode. The announcement also says players can use buttons and sticks or motion controls.
- Assist Mode: Nintendo says it provides additional health and recovery from falls, offering extra help for beginners or more casual play.
- Soundtrack Mode: Lets players listen to the games’ music.
- amiibo support: Nintendo says select amiibo figures can be scanned to provide helpful in-game items. The cited product information does not say any amiibo are included with the game.
What resolution does it support?
Nintendo’s US product listing says the games run at 1080p on Nintendo Switch. On Nintendo Switch 2, a free update supports 4K when connected to a compatible display. The 4K update is free; it is not a separate paid edition.

Treat them as separate optional accessories or collectibles, not as contents of the game bundle.
