Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV includes the full original game and a separate, Switch 2-exclusive Jamboree TV experience. The new mouse, microphone and camera features are fun additions, but they are not simply layered onto every mode: Mario Party and Jamboree TV have different minigames. A camera is optional for the game overall, though required for supported camera features. If you already own the original Switch game, you can buy an upgrade pack instead of purchasing the full edition again.
What does the Switch 2 edition add?
The Switch 2 edition combines the full Super Mario Party Jamboree game with Jamboree TV, a game-show-style mode hosted by Toad. Jamboree TV is exclusive to the Switch 2 edition, which can be played only on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s UK product page lists 20 new minigames for Jamboree TV, using mouse, microphone and camera features; that is Nintendo’s stated count, not a count of minigames available in every mode.

The new features use Switch 2 hardware: Joy-Con 2 controllers can be used sideways as a mouse in compatible modes, the system’s built-in microphone supports voice-based play, and selected modes use full-body movement. Nintendo also lists HD rumble 2. No separate mouse is required. For the edition and its listed features, see Nintendo’s Switch 2 edition product page.
Mario Party and Jamboree TV are separate mode choices
When starting a Mario Party game in the Switch 2 edition, you can choose the original Mario Party mode or the Jamboree TV version. Nintendo says the minigames differ between those choices. Jamboree TV is the one to select for CameraPlay, the new minigames and new rules exclusive to the Switch 2 edition; don’t assume those additions appear in the original mode.

| Choice | What it offers | Hardware detail |
|---|---|---|
| Mario Party mode | The original game’s Mario Party experience. Nintendo support says its minigames differ from those in the Jamboree TV version. | The Switch 2 edition’s base game supports Full HD (1080p) in handheld, tabletop and TV modes, according to Nintendo’s update information. |
| Jamboree TV | The Switch 2-exclusive version, with new rules and minigames. Nintendo UK lists 20 new minigames using mouse, microphone and camera features. | Nintendo UK lists up to WQHD (1440p) in TV mode with a compatible television; its page specifies that 1440p applies to Jamboree TV only. |
The distinction is the edition’s main wrinkle: Jamboree TV gives the new hardware features a clear home, but players looking for those features in the familiar original-mode selection may find the separation frustrating. The edition’s value depends on whether your group wants to play the new mode, rather than on expecting every part of the original experience to change.
Do you need a camera?
No camera is needed to play the game overall. A Nintendo Switch 2 Camera or another compatible USB-C camera is sold separately and is required for CameraPlay and some camera-based features. Nintendo support says camera-enabled modes omit camera-based minigames when no compatible camera is connected. Nintendo UK says Bowser Live can still be played without a camera using voice-controlled minigames.

Local and online play
Nintendo support lists Mario Party for one to four players, both offline and online. Jamboree TV modes such as Bowser Live and Carnival Coaster also support one to four players locally and online. Some other modes have larger online groups: Koopathlon supports up to 20 online players, and Bowser Kaboom Squad supports up to eight, with one player per system. Nintendo says both modes must first be cleared in single-player before online play.

- Race across the party board in Koopathlon, a series-first 20-player online competition to see who can rack up the highest scores in minigames like the fast-paced Lane Change. The higher your score in each round, the faster you’ll get to the goal. Koopathlon is just one of a slew of additional modes – there’s something for every kind of Mario Party player to enjoy!
For online features, a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership are required. Nintendo support says each system needs a copy of the Switch 2 edition for online play, although certain modes also support online multiplayer with players using the original Nintendo Switch version. Check the mode’s requirements in Nintendo’s multiplayer support information.
GameShare is a limited local option
One Switch 2 owner with the edition can share selected content locally with Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 systems using GameShare. The shared content includes the Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party board in Mario Party mode, Party Rules and 30 selected minigames. It is handheld-only and does not work through GameChat; it is not a way to share the whole game or all of Jamboree TV. Nintendo’s product page confirms that “Only Party Rules and 30 select minigames are available with GameShare.”

Should you buy the full edition or the upgrade pack?
If you do not own the original Switch game, the full Switch 2 edition is the purchase path that includes both the original game and Jamboree TV. If you already own Super Mario Party Jamboree for Switch, Nintendo offers an upgrade pack to play the Switch 2 edition on Switch 2. Nintendo Support (Americas) lists the US upgrade pack at $19.99 through Nintendo eShop on Switch 2 and Nintendo Store; prices may change and differ by region. See Nintendo’s DLC and upgrade-pack information for current details.

Resolution and update notes
Nintendo UK specifies WQHD (1440p) in TV mode and Full HD (1080p) in handheld and tabletop modes for the edition, with a compatible television required for 1440p. Its page limits the 1440p figure to Jamboree TV. Separately, Nintendo support says version 2.2.0 increased the base Super Mario Party Jamboree selection to Full HD (1080p) in handheld, tabletop and TV modes on Switch 2; that improvement requires the Switch 2 edition. These are mode-specific claims, not a single resolution promise for every mode.
Nintendo’s support page identifies version 2.3.0, released February 3, 2026, as the latest update shown there. Its listed Switch 2 changes include Thai and Polish language support, alongside gameplay adjustments and fixes. Nintendo says updates must be installed to use internet features. Check Nintendo’s update page for the current version and update instructions.
