Released on 17 October 2024, it brings players together for board-game rounds, tasks, Mini Stars and minigames. Its appeal depends on whether your group enjoys that mix; the Switch 2 edition’s extra modes and controls are not part of this release.
How the party works
Nintendo sums up the central loop this way: “A player explores the game board and completes tasks to earn Mini Stars.” Players move around a board, take part in minigames and compete for stars. That combination gives a session both a shared goal and frequent interruptions for head-to-head play, making it a natural fit for a group that wants a game to play together rather than a solo adventure.
The format is best suited to people who enjoy board-game pacing and the variety of short minigames. If your group wants only standalone minigames, or prefers a tightly controlled competitive game, the board-based structure may be less appealing. Nintendo’s product page describes the premise and flags mode and input qualifications, but the available evidence here does not establish a board count, minigame total or performance measurements.
Is Super Mario Party Jamboree worth it?
Consider it if you already own a Nintendo Switch and want a shared party game built around taking turns, moving across a board and competing in minigames. It is a less obvious choice if you mainly play alone or want the newer Switch 2-specific camera, microphone, mouse or motion-control features. Those features belong to a separate edition, not this Switch game.
#1 Best Overall
- Get ready for the biggest party yet in Super Mario Party Jamboree for Nintendo Switch. From running through merry-go-rounds to motion-control minigolf, this jamboree is jam-packed with over 110 minigames – the most of any Mario Party game to date!
- With seven boards in all, you can go with the flow in Goomba Lagoon, search for stars in Rainbow Galleria, revisit the classics of Western Land and Mario’s Rainbow Castle from past titles and more.
- Race across the party board in Koopathlon, a series-first 20-player online competition to see who can rack up the highest scores in minigames like the fast-paced Lane Change. The higher your score in each round, the faster you’ll get to the goal. Koopathlon is just one of a slew of additional modes – there’s something for every kind of Mario Party player to enjoy!
Whether it is worth the price depends on how often you will play with a group and whether the board-game format suits them. No current store price is established here, so check the listing for your region before buying rather than relying on an older quoted price.
Can you play online, and do you need Nintendo Switch Online?
Yes, the game has online features, and Nintendo Support says a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use them. That requirement applies to online features; it is not a condition for local play. If you expect to play locally, the membership requirement alone is not a reason to rule out the game.

Which edition should you buy?
Nintendo lists the original Super Mario Party Jamboree for Nintendo Switch as released on 17 October 2024. A distinct Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV followed on 24 July 2025.
| Edition | Platform and release | What distinguishes it |
|---|---|---|
| Super Mario Party Jamboree | Nintendo Switch; 17 October 2024, according to Nintendo UK. | The original game. Nintendo’s Switch product page notes that motion-control minigames are not compatible with Nintendo Switch Lite and flags qualifications for certain modes. |
| Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV | Nintendo Switch 2; 24 July 2025, according to Nintendo UK. | Adds selected full-body motion controls, system-microphone use, mouse-controlled minigames and new rules or modes. Nintendo Support says the edition’s base-game selection outputs Full HD (1080p) in handheld, tabletop and TV modes. |
Buy the Switch version if that is the console you own and you want the original game. If you own a Switch 2 and specifically want the added camera-, microphone-, mouse- or motion-based features, check Nintendo’s Switch 2 Edition listing carefully: it is a separate edition, with different features. The 1080p support note above applies to that edition’s base-game selection, not to the original Switch release.

Compatibility to check before playing
Nintendo’s Switch product page says motion-control minigames are not compatible with Nintendo Switch Lite and notes that certain listed modes do not support those minigames. Because support depends on the mode and setup, check the current product information before planning a session around motion controls. The Switch 2 edition’s added control options should not be assumed to work with the original Switch game.
