Nintendo’s trailer introduced an island-resort setting, seven boards, and more than 110 minigames. The original Switch game launched on October 17, 2024; this article covers that edition, not the separate Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV.
What the announcement trailer revealed
Nintendo presented Super Mario Party Jamboree as a large-scale Mario Party built around an island resort. Its June 2024 announcement said the game would include seven boards: five new boards and two returning from earlier entries. Nintendo highlighted Rainbow Galleria, Roll ’em Raceway, and Goomba Lagoon among the new locations. Nintendo’s June 20, 2024 announcement also set the original Nintendo Switch release date as October 17, 2024.

What you can play
Boards and party modes
The seven-board lineup combines new and returning locations for the traditional board-game-style Mario Party experience. Nintendo also lists modes beyond the main board play, including Koopathlon, Bowser Kaboom Squad, and Party-Planner Trek. Party-Planner Trek is a single-player mode that spans five boards. Nintendo’s overview describes the game as supporting solo, local, and online play. Nintendo’s October 17, 2024 availability announcement provides its character and minigame figures and mode overview.

What you need for local and online play
Online requirements
Online play requires internet access, a Nintendo Account, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership; terms and country availability apply. Nintendo Support also says each participating system needs its own copy of the game and Nintendo Switch Online membership. Check Nintendo’s online multiplayer setup instructions for its mode-specific setup details.
Controllers and Nintendo Switch Lite
Joy-Con controllers are required for motion-control minigames. Nintendo’s product information warns that some motion-control minigames are not compatible with Nintendo Switch Lite, and that motion-control minigames are not available in online play. These caveats apply to those particular minigames, not necessarily every activity in the game. Depending on the number of local players and controller arrangement, multiplayer may require additional accessories sold separately. Review the controller notices on Nintendo’s U.S. product listing before choosing a setup.
