Sword Hero is an unreleased open-world RPG planned for Windows PC through Steam. The store page lists Windows 10 as the minimum operating system, full controller support and Steam Cloud, but its release date remains “To be announced.” The current design is single-player, with deliberate combat, enemies that do not scale to your level and no published Easy, Normal or Hard selector. Saving and loading is partly implemented and still being refined, so cloud-save behavior should be treated as provisional.
Is Sword Hero out yet?
No. Sword Hero is still in development and has not reached a finished Steam release. Steam shows the release date as “To be announced,” which means there is no confirmed launch day, early-access start date or guaranteed window to plan around.

The official project site presents Sword Hero as an “Open World RPG” set in a “Low-Poly Dark Fantasy World” and directs visitors to Steam for wishlisting. A wishlist is useful for receiving a platform notification if the listing changes, but it is not a release commitment. Until ForestWare or publisher Crytivo announces a date, any retailer listing, video description or social post that supplies a specific launch day should be treated as unofficial.
Because development is ongoing, features shown on the store page can still be adjusted. That matters most for saving: the alpha roadmap says the basic save/load process already works in large part, while also saying it needs streamlining and refinement as new features are added. The final release may therefore differ from the current feature list.

What platforms will run Sword Hero?
The documented target is a Windows PC version distributed through Steam. No console edition, mobile version or alternate PC storefront is confirmed in the available official information.

The missing processor and graphics requirements are important. The 4 GB and 8 GB memory figures alone cannot predict frame rate, resolution or loading performance. Wait for a complete specification before upgrading a PC specifically for Sword Hero.
Can you play Sword Hero on a console?
There is no confirmed console version. The current store target is Windows through Steam, and the official descriptions do not announce Xbox, PlayStation or Switch editions. Full controller support should not be confused with console availability: a controller can be connected to a PC.
A later console announcement is possible, especially for an independent game, but it would be a new platform commitment rather than something implied by the existing listing. Until the developer or publisher names a console and a release plan, the dependable answer is PC only.

Is Sword Hero hard?
Expect a demanding game rather than a selectable difficulty ladder. Sword Hero’s Steam description says the wilderness is “unkind to the unprepared,” and it describes enemies that do not scale to the player’s level. The result should be a world where preparation, positioning and player judgment matter more than simply entering an area at the recommended character level.
No numeric difficulty menu or accessibility preset is documented. Do not assume the finished game will offer Easy, Normal and Hard modes, damage sliders, invulnerability or a story-only setting. The absence of a published menu does not prove that no option will ever be added; it means there is no confirmed choice to select today.
How non-scaling enemies change exploration
In a level-scaled RPG, a creature often grows stronger alongside the hero, so returning to an earlier region can remain proportionally dangerous. Sword Hero’s stated model is different. Enemies retain their own relative strength, allowing an opponent that overwhelms a new character to become manageable after training, better equipment and broader character growth.

The same rule creates risk in the other direction. A strong character can enter an area where opponents are still dangerous because the world does not automatically weaken them to match the player. Exploration is therefore an information problem as much as a combat problem: learning which encounters to avoid, when to retreat and when to return should be part of progression.

What the opening hours may demand
The “unkind to the unprepared” wording points to a deliberately severe opening. New players should expect mistakes to have consequences and should not read an early defeat as evidence that the entire game is balanced around a permanently high enemy level. The intended arc is to gain competence and resources, then revisit threats that were previously beyond reach.
Because no detailed combat guide or numeric balance data has been published, it would be misleading to promise exact stamina costs, enemy tiers, death penalties or recommended build paths. Those systems may still change during development.
Does Sword Hero have multiplayer or co-op?
There is no online multiplayer in the current plan. In the project FAQ, the developer explains: “No, since I’m a solo dev, attempting something like online features would be a tremendous risk for the entire project.” The same response sets the goal as a complete, solid single-player experience.

What about split-screen?
Split-screen co-op has been mentioned only as a possible stretch-goal feature. It is not a confirmed mode, and there is no announced player count, supported input arrangement or release milestone for it. Treat it as a contingency that could become feasible if development goals are met, not as a feature to buy the game for.
If local co-op matters to your purchase, wait for an explicit update that names split-screen as included in the release build. A controller-support label by itself does not indicate couch multiplayer.

Steam Cloud appears in the current Steam feature list. That indicates the listing is intended to support Steam’s cloud-synchronization service, but the available documentation does not describe how the feature will behave in the finished game.

The alpha roadmap adds an important qualification: “Saving/Loading is already mostly possible, however the process needs some unbloating, and refinement as I’ll be adding other new features.” Save functionality exists in development, but it is not presented as final.

When the game launches, check Steam’s synchronization status before changing computers or reinstalling. Keep a local backup of important saves if the game exposes one and you are testing an unfinished build. Those are sensible precautions, not guarantees about Sword Hero’s final file locations or recovery tools.
What are the current PC and control requirements?
Windows 10 is the only operating-system minimum currently listed. Memory requirements are 4 GB minimum and 8 GB recommended. Processor and graphics requirements remain unpublished, so the memory figures should not be used as a complete hardware test.
The store lists full controller support, and the alpha roadmap specifically refers to Xbox and PlayStation button icons. An Xbox-compatible PC controller or another supported gamepad should therefore be a viable optional control method. Nothing in the current listing makes a controller mandatory, and the published material does not establish detailed keyboard-and-mouse bindings.

What should you expect from the release status?
The safest expectation is an evolving PC game rather than a finished, date-certain product. The store page, official site and developer roadmap agree on a Windows/Steam target and a single-player open-world RPG direction, while leaving several launch-critical details open: the date, CPU and GPU requirements, final save workflow and any local co-op decision.
- Wishlist it if you want a Steam notification when the listing changes.
- Do not buy hardware yet on the basis of memory requirements alone; the processor and graphics targets are still absent.
- Plan for solo play unless a later announcement confirms split-screen.
- Expect experimentation early on, because non-scaling enemies make retreating and returning part of the intended progression.
- Treat cloud saves as a listed, developing feature rather than a promise of a particular slot system or cross-platform transfer.
Who is Sword Hero best suited to?
Sword Hero is most relevant to players who want a single-player fantasy RPG in which the world does not constantly adjust itself to the hero. Its design favors learning enemy danger, accepting occasional setbacks and returning with improved skills or equipment. Players looking specifically for online parties, cross-play or a confirmed console edition should not make those assumptions from the current listing.
It may also appeal to PC players who prefer a controller, since full controller support is listed, while still allowing the flexibility of Steam’s achievement, workshop, cloud, leaderboard and family-sharing ecosystem. The final quality of each integration will only be clear when the corresponding systems are finished.
