Short answer: Synth Riders does not submit scores made in offline mode. A missing personal best may instead be a local-data loss, a different leaderboard view, a changed custom-song map, or a failed online submission. Steam, Oculus Rift, and Oculus Quest multiplayer is cross-platform, and multiplayer-lobby scores are placed on unified leaderboards. The developer has not publicly documented the technical anti-cheat algorithm, detection thresholds, or an appeal process.
The key to diagnosing any apparent reset is to separate five things: data stored on your device, data submitted to the online service, the leaderboard view and filters you selected, the exact song map, and the platform or game build you are using.

What happens to a score played offline?
Offline mode allows you to play, but the official Synth Riders release notes state: “In this mode, scores will not be saved or submitted.” That means an offline run should not be expected to appear later on a global or multiplayer leaderboard.
Reconnect to the service before starting a run that you want ranked. Treat the connection as a requirement for submission, not merely for viewing results. Reconnecting after an offline session does not come with an official promise that the earlier run will be uploaded retroactively, so the dependable recovery is to replay the song while connected.

How to tell whether a run was online
- Confirm that the game has finished connecting before you begin the ranked attempt.
- After the song, remain on the result and leaderboard screens long enough for the online result to load.
- Check the board again from the same song and difficulty rather than assuming a local best-score panel is the server record.
- If the service connection failed during submission, the run may remain only as a play session on the device, or may not be retained at all.
Why did my high score or play count disappear?
A visible reset does not always mean the online leaderboard entry was deleted. Synth Riders keeps local statistics and network leaderboard data as separate information. Local panels can show play counts and best scores stored on the device; the online service stores submitted leaderboard entries independently.
Local data was removed or overwritten
Uninstalling the game, reinstalling it, restoring an earlier backup, or overwriting local data can remove local play counts and the best-score display in the center panel. A 2023 troubleshooting explanation notes that this local information is separate from network leaderboard data: reinstalling can overwrite the device copy without resetting scores already held online.
After reinstalling, sign in to the platform account you normally use, reconnect, and inspect the relevant online board. If the online entry is present, only the local history was lost. There is no general guarantee that deleted local play counts can be reconstructed from the server.
You are looking at the wrong board view
The official notes distinguish two leaderboard views:

If you are comparing a remembered personal best with the Modified board, clear or match the selected modifiers and then check Combined. The apparent disappearance can be a filter change rather than a deletion.
The run never reached the service
Runs made while offline, or runs affected by a service connection failure at submission time, have no reliable online entry to display. Check the connection state and test a new connected run before treating the leaderboard as reset.
How modifiers, modes, and filters change what you see
Leaderboard screens can be narrower than the complete set of scores. Before comparing two results, record the song, difficulty, game mode, selected modifiers, and board type. A change in any of these can produce a different list while leaving the original score intact.
Combined versus Modified
Use Combined when you want the broadest board for the song and difficulty, including scores made with modifiers. Use Modified when you intentionally want to compare only attempts using the currently selected modifiers. Do not use a Modified result to conclude that a Combined result was removed.

Mode and difficulty filters
Community Synthriderz leaderboard pages expose additional choices such as Official and Any, along with mode and difficulty filters. Those pages can therefore show a different population of scores from an in-game panel or from a view using another filter. Select the same mode, difficulty, and board category on both sides before comparing positions.
Custom maps have their own identity
Official notes say leaderboards are tied to a song’s map. Editing a custom map can create a new leaderboard, even when the song title appears familiar. A score on the original map is not automatically a score on the edited version.
For a custom song, verify the exact map file or revision, not only the displayed title. If a mapper changes notes, timing, or another map property, look for the board associated with the new map before assuming the old scores vanished.

Can Steam, Oculus Rift, and Oculus Quest players play together?
Yes. The official multiplayer announcement states that multiplayer is cross-platform compatible and that players can challenge friends on Steam, Oculus Rift, and Oculus Quest. This establishes cross-platform multiplayer for those platforms in the announced implementation.

Official notes also say that scores from multiplayer lobbies are saved into unified leaderboards. A lobby result can therefore enter a shared board rather than a platform-isolated list. The exact board still depends on the song map, mode, difficulty, and modifier configuration.
What about PlayStation VR2?
The current PlayStation listing describes global leaderboards and online multiplayer for up to ten players on PS VR2. That confirms those features for the PS VR2 listing, but it does not by itself promise that every leaderboard view, account behavior, or multiplayer combination is identical across every other platform. Platform support can change with updates.
Why platform and build versions matter
A 2026 patch archive records fixes involving multiplayer synchronization and platform player-level updates. If friends see inconsistent lobby results or player information, first compare the game versions and install the latest available update for each platform. A version mismatch can affect synchronization even when the underlying leaderboard rules have not changed.

How Synth Riders anti-cheat works—and what is actually public
The public official material documents submission and leaderboard rules, not the technical anti-cheat implementation. It establishes that online submission determines whether a result can enter a board, that Combined and Modified boards separate results by modifier selection, and that map identity separates custom-song leaderboards. It does not publish a detector, algorithm, score threshold, review queue, removal policy, or appeal workflow.

Consequently, it would be inaccurate to claim that Synth Riders uses a particular replay analyzer, hardware detector, automatic threshold, or named enforcement system. The safest description is that leaderboard validity is controlled by the online service and its board and configuration rules. Suspicious-score detection and any moderation action may exist, but the located public documentation does not explain how they operate.
What players can do to avoid an invalid-looking result
- Play and submit while connected to the service.
- Use the intended, unmodified map when competing on an official board.
- Check the map identity before comparing a custom-song result.
- Record the exact mode, difficulty, modifiers, platform, and game version when reporting a discrepancy.
- Do not infer an anti-cheat decision from a missing local panel; local data and server entries are different.
A step-by-step checklist for a missing score
- Confirm the song and difficulty. Open the same song and difficulty used for the run. For custom content, verify the exact map revision.
- Check the connection. Make sure the game is online before replaying or submitting. If the original attempt was offline or the service connection failed, plan on a connected replay rather than assuming it can be uploaded later.
- Open Combined. This removes the most common modifier-based filter and shows scores regardless of modifiers.
- Review the selected modifiers. If you are intentionally using Modified, match the modifier set used for the remembered score.
- Check mode and difficulty filters. Community boards and in-game views can use different categories. Match Official or Any, mode, and difficulty where those selectors are available.
- Compare local and online information. A missing center-panel best score or play count points to local data; an absent online entry points to submission, map, filter, or service issues.
- Check platform and build versions. Update each player’s installation, especially when a multiplayer lobby does not synchronize correctly.
- Run a controlled test. Play a short, connected attempt on the exact map, then check the same board immediately. This distinguishes a display/filter problem from a submission problem without relying on an old run.
Diagnostic matrix: the five comparisons that matter

Common scenarios and the correct conclusion
“My center panel is empty after reinstalling.”
That is consistent with local statistics being overwritten. It does not prove that the network leaderboard was reset. Check the online board using the correct account, map, difficulty, and view.
“My score is missing only when modifiers are selected.”
That is consistent with the Modified view filtering for the current modifier set. Use Combined or reproduce the original modifier selection.

Check whether the map was edited. Map identity, rather than title alone, determines the leaderboard, so a revised map can have a new board.
“A friend on another headset cannot see the same multiplayer result.”

Bottom line for leaderboard disputes
Start with the least dramatic explanation: a filter, local-data reset, map revision, or connection failure. Combined is the broadest modifier view, custom maps can create separate boards, and offline play does not produce a submitted score. Cross-platform multiplayer is documented across Steam, Oculus Rift, and Oculus Quest, while PS VR2 advertises global boards and ten-player online multiplayer. For anti-cheat, rely only on the published submission and board rules; the technical detector and enforcement process are not publicly specified.
