Nightdive Studios said that Kickstarter/Backerkit backers who pledged $30 or more and people who preordered the original System Shock remake on PC would receive a free copy of System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. The announced delivery date was June 26, 2025, so this is now an existing entitlement to check—not a future offer. Backers were directed to retrieve a Steam key through their Backerkit survey; remake preorder customers were to receive the game on the same storefront account they used to preorder. Who was eligible for a free copy?
Nightdive’s offer covered two distinct groups. The campaign route required a pledge at the $30 level or higher; the preorder route applied to people who preordered the original System Shock remake on PC. It was not an offer for every campaign backer regardless of pledge, nor did the notice extend the preorder route to other games or platforms. The qualifying preorder was for the remake, not the remaster.

How to check a Backerkit reward
- Sign in to the Backerkit account associated with the qualifying campaign pledge and open the campaign survey.
- Choose “Get Your Digital Rewards” in the survey to view the Steam key.
- Redeem the key on Steam if you want the game in your Steam library.
Nightdive’s notice specifies the survey as the delivery route for qualifying campaign backers; it does not describe a different storefront option for that reward.
How to check a PC remake preorder
Check the storefront account used to preorder the original System Shock remake. Nightdive said the remaster would be delivered automatically to that same platform account, naming Steam, GOG, Epic Games, and Humble Bundle. If the entitlement is not visible in the appropriate account, contact Nightdive support at [email protected]. The fulfillment notice does not give a response-time estimate.

When was it delivered?
Team Nightdive Studios posted its fulfillment notice on June 25, 2025 and announced delivery for June 26, 2025, at 5 a.m. Pacific / 8 a.m. Eastern. Those dates have passed; the notice is guidance for checking an existing qualifying entitlement, not an upcoming delivery schedule.

The full name in the fulfillment notice is System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. It was previously titled System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition. It is distinct from the original 1999 System Shock 2. Nightdive’s Steam announcement about the original game says it was delisted from PC platforms on October 10, 2025, and that both new and existing remaster owners can access the 1999 game from their library at no additional cost.
