The System Shock remake is already available on consoles. It launched for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 21, 2024; Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions followed on December 18, 2025.
When did System Shock come to consoles?
May 21 was the PlayStation and Xbox release date in 2024, not an upcoming launch. PlayStation announced versions for PS5 and PS4, and Xbox listed the game for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on the same date. PlayStation’s launch announcement and the Xbox store listing identify those platforms and date.
Nintendo players got the remake later: Nightdive announced availability for Switch and Switch 2 on December 18, 2025. Nightdive’s current game page lists PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and Switch 2.

What is the System Shock remake?
Nightdive Studios remade the 1994 PC game originally developed by LookingGlass Technologies (later LookingGlass Studios) and released by Origin Systems. The story takes place aboard Citadel Station, where the rogue artificial intelligence SHODAN has seized control and turned crew members into cyborgs and mutants. Players explore the station, fight its inhabitants, hack systems, and piece together SHODAN’s plans.

The remake retains the original’s first-person, exploratory approach while updating its presentation. Nightdive describes HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface, new sounds and music, and the return of Terri Brosius as SHODAN’s voice actor. Are the console versions on the same update?
Nightdive said on March 21, 2026, that version 2.1 was live on PC, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5, bringing the platforms onto the same version. The developer also cited performance and stability refinements for the Switch family. This is a dated developer update, not independent testing or a guarantee about performance on every device; check the relevant store listing and newer platform-specific notes for the latest status.
