Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival Crashing or Stuttering on PC: What to Try

Bandai Namco recommends in-game V-SYNC and vertical synchronization for tearing or stuttering in Rhythm Festival on PC. That guidance is not a universal fix for launch failures or crashes.

If Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is tearing, shifting, or stuttering on Steam, turn on V-SYNC Settings in the game and enable vertical synchronization in your graphics-card settings. Bandai Namco’s 15 November 2024 performance note recommends those changes for those display and performance symptoms—not as a proven fix for every game crash. If the game closes to desktop or will not start, the available guidance does not establish a universal cause or fix.

First, identify what “crashing” means

The right next step depends on the symptom. Bandai Namco’s published note addresses horizontal screen tearing or shifting and stuttering. Those are not necessarily the same as a game that freezes, closes to desktop, or fails to launch. The note is reproduced by SteamDB, which says the associated build was not seen in a public branch; it is best treated as published guidance, not proof of a particular rollout or a universal fix.

  • Tearing, shifting, or stuttering while the game remains open: try the publisher’s V-SYNC settings first.
  • Lag spikes: a Steam community user reported a separate resolution and frame-rate workaround; it is anecdotal.
  • Freeze, launch failure, or closure to desktop: record where it happens and any error message. The cited guidance does not identify a confirmed fix for this crash class.

Turn on V-SYNC for tearing or stuttering

Bandai Namco’s performance note, dated 15 November 2024, recommends turning on “V-SYNC Settings” in the game and vertical synchronization in the PC’s graphics settings.

  1. In the game, open My Room > Game Settings > Graphics Settings.
  2. Turn on V-SYNC Settings.
  3. Open your video-card settings or control panel and enable vertical synchronization for the game or globally, depending on the controls available for your graphics hardware.
  4. Test the same scene again and check whether the tearing or stuttering changes.

The recommendation is specific to the symptoms named in the note. It does not establish that V-SYNC will fix startup failures, freezes, or every sudden exit.

If lag spikes continue, test the community workaround cautiously

In a Steam Community discussion posted 9 November 2024, one player said lowering resolution to 1080p or 720p helped with lag spikes. The same user suggested disabling the game’s frame-rate setting while keeping V-SYNC on when using a high-refresh monitor. This is one player’s report, not publisher guidance or a verified remedy for crashes.

  1. Change one setting at a time so you can tell which change affects your result.
  2. If you are above 1080p, test 1080p; if needed, test 720p.
  3. On a high-refresh monitor, try turning off the game’s frame-rate setting while leaving V-SYNC on.
  4. Compare the same gameplay situation before and after each change.

The report does not establish that these settings will help every PC, or that they address a game that closes or fails to launch. The discussion is available at Steam Community.

Check whether your PC meets the Steam requirements

The Steam listing gives these requirements and estimates for Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival. Its performance figures are estimates, not guarantees for every system; the listing also warns that frame rate may drop in graphics-intensive scenes.

For a launch failure or genuine crash, collect details before changing more settings

The cited sources do not name a universal cause or specific fix for a game that fails to start, freezes, or closes to desktop. Before narrowing down the problem, note:

  • Whether the game fails on launch, at a particular screen, or during gameplay, and whether it closes, freezes, or shows an error.
  • Your Windows version, GPU model and VRAM, and graphics-driver version.
  • Your resolution and monitor refresh rate, plus any relevant graphics settings you changed.
  • Whether your PC meets the Steam listing’s minimum requirements.

These details help distinguish a display-performance issue from a process crash; the published requirements do not prove that being below spec caused any individual crash.
