What Ethereal Cobwebs are used for
The community-maintained Tainted Grail Wiki item entry describes Ethereal Cobweb as a currency item and crafting reagent. It lists bonfire fuel, crafting, and identifying items as uses. It also says the item cannot be crafted. Because this is a community reference, check the current in-game menus if an update has changed an item’s function.

Choose a farming approach

There is no supported efficiency comparison between the two methods. Pick clusters if you want known collection points and can travel safely; use wyrdnight fights if you prefer combat and are already encountering enemies then.
Where to find the five reported Act I combs
The following landmarks come from a community guide, not official coordinates. Use the nearby locations to orient yourself; a comb can be easy to miss.

- YOU ARE NOT ALONE: Adso is Aran’s companion who will join him on his journey. During combat, Adso gives helpful tips how to defeat enemies by analysing them and taking notes in his chronicles. He will be crucial on your adventure, as he speaks the ancient forger language.
- Between Forgotten Cemetery, Wolf Shrine, and Archspire: Look for a ledge between Forgotten Cemetery to the west, Wolf Shrine to the north, and Archspire to the east. The guide recommends accepting Keeper Margh’s quest after completing Dead as Dreams to get a quest marker. The comb may be hard to spot. Two hollow druids stand near a large stone archway.
- Behind the Tomb of the Good Druid: Search directly behind the tomb, near a sleeping Croakmaw and two hollow druids beside a statue of Wyrmtoe the Wise.
- Northwest of Ancient Cromlech: Look in a small pond, where the comb grows against a stone spire. Large bones and a skull are in front of it.
- Bandit camp: Check the open area inside a small bandit camp.
- Mountain fast-travel point: Find the comb in the mountains beside a fast-travel point, near Ancient Cave to the east, Bear Shrine to the west, and an unmarked gate toward Cuanacht to the north. The guide warns that this location is especially dangerous because of an ogre, flamegobblers, and redcaps, and recommends level 10 or above.
How often combs respawn—and how much they yield
The guide reports that combs return after about two to three in-game days. It also reports roughly 30 cobwebs when the player’s stock is low, falling to around 10 or 20 when the stock is about 100 or more. These are anecdotal observations from a player guide, not guaranteed respawn timing or fixed yields; no controlled test or official current-patch confirmation establishes them.
If you revisit the route, treat the interval as a starting point rather than a timer the game is guaranteed to follow. Check the comb locations again after time has passed, and do not plan around receiving a particular quantity.

Farming cobwebs from enemies during wyrdnight
The item reference says enemies and NPCs can drop Ethereal Cobwebs during wyrdnight. It names Wyrdspawn and Wyrdspirit, Forlorn Swords, Sleepwalker, and Ghost Crew among the sources. The reference does not provide drop rates, so these are possible sources, not a promise that every kill will produce cobwebs.
A 2024 Steam discussion mentions nighttime kills, including flying skulls in Cemetery Crypt and respawning bandit camps. Those are older player examples, not a verified or optimized current farming loop. If you use combat farming, choose encounters you can handle and collect drops as you go rather than relying on a specific rate.

How to use cobwebs to identify items
A player discussion describes identifying unknown items by starting a campfire and choosing the cobweb option to open its submenu. Menu names or behavior may differ by game version or platform. The item reference also lists bonfire fuel and crafting as uses, but does not provide a full set of recipes or menu steps.
Buying Ethereal Cobwebs
The available item reference and player discussion describe gathering and drops, not a confirmed vendor purchase option. They do not establish whether a merchant sells Ethereal Cobwebs in every version or at a particular point in the game. Check merchant inventories in your own save rather than assuming you can buy a reliable supply.
