Take-Two reported $1.35 billion in company-wide net bookings for fiscal Q4 2024 and forecast a Fall 2025 release window for Grand Theft Auto VI. Neither statement meant that GTA VI had generated $1.35 billion or had launched: the bookings covered Take-Two’s business for the quarter ended March 31, 2024, and Fall 2025 was an outlook that was later superseded.
What Take-Two reported in fiscal Q4 2024
In its May 16, 2024 results, Take-Two Interactive Software reported $1.35 billion in net bookings for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, which ended March 31, 2024. The amount was for the company as a whole, not a figure for Grand Theft Auto VI. Take-Two’s fiscal 2024 results also discussed GTA VI’s expected release window at the time.
The distinction matters because the headline joined two separate company updates: a historical financial result and a release forecast. It did not report a GTA VI sales milestone.
What “net bookings” means
Take-Two defines net bookings as the net amount of products and services sold digitally or sold in physically during a period. Its definition also includes items such as licensing fees, merchandise, in-game advertising, strategy guides and publisher incentives. This is Take-Two’s operational metric; it is not the same as GAAP net revenue, and the company-wide total should not be read as cash receipts or as sales of one particular game. Take-Two’s fiscal 2025 results provide the metric definition and subsequent comparison.

How the $1.35 billion compares with the following year
Take-Two reported $1.58 billion in net bookings for fiscal Q4 2025, up 17% from $1.35 billion in the prior-year quarter. The comparison is company-wide and uses the same net-bookings metric; it is not a report of GTA VI bookings. In describing the fiscal 2025 quarter’s largest contributors, Take-Two named titles and businesses including NBA 2K25, Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, Civilization VII, and several mobile games. It did not identify GTA VI as a contributor to the earlier $1.35 billion figure.

These are issuer-reported net-bookings figures, not GAAP net revenue. The full-year figure is included for context, not as a GTA VI-specific measure.

How GTA VI’s release timing changed
The Fall 2025 window in Take-Two’s fiscal 2024 outlook was a forecast, not a completed launch. The company subsequently revised its planned date in stages:

In the May 2025 update, Take-Two Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick said, “We support fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises to be a groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations.” The company stated the May 26, 2026 planned date in that same update.
