If Tales of Arise keeps crashing on PC, work through these eight checks one at a time, launching the game after each change. They draw on Steam’s general PC troubleshooting and Microsoft’s DirectX guidance—not a guaranteed game-specific fix—so the useful first clue is when the crash happens: at launch, during loading, or while playing.
1. Restart Windows and Steam
Save your work, restart Windows, then open Steam and try the game again. A fresh restart is a low-impact first check and can clear a temporary problem; if the crash returns, move on rather than assuming it is fixed.
2. Compare your PC with the published requirements
Steam lists these requirements for Tales of ARISE. They are the store’s stated specifications, not a guarantee that a PC meeting them will be crash-free.

Steam also notes that using the DirectX 12 API requires Windows 10 version 1809 or later and a graphics card with 4 GB of VRAM. Check the Steam listing for its published requirements. If your PC falls below them, that is relevant context for troubleshooting, but it does not identify the cause of a particular crash.

3. Verify the game files in Steam
Damaged or missing installation files can cause problems. Steam’s guidance is to verify that the game’s files are installed correctly; the check may take several minutes.
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Tales of ARISE and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and let the process finish.
- Launch the game and check whether the same crash occurs.
Steam notes that some files that fail verification may be local configuration files, and that this can be normal. See Steam’s file verification instructions.

4. Install pending Windows updates
Check Windows Update and install pending updates, then restart if Windows requests it. Retest the game before making another change; changing one thing at a time makes it easier to spot what helped.
5. Identify your graphics card and check its driver
First identify the GPU and its driver version, rather than installing a driver based on a guess. Press Windows + R, enter dxdiag, and open the Display tab in DirectX Diagnostic Tool to review graphics information. Steam also recommends checking for driver updates. Use the graphics-card maker’s official driver page or your PC manufacturer’s support page to find a compatible driver; avoid third-party driver-download sites. Restart and test after updating. 6. Check DirectX and Windows compatibility
In DxDiag, check the DirectX version and the Windows details shown on the System tab. Microsoft says Windows Update provides the latest DirectX version available for the Windows version installed on your PC. Use Windows Update rather than downloading DirectX from an unfamiliar site. 7. Temporarily close non-essential background software
Steam recommends disabling non-essential software when troubleshooting crashes or launch problems. Close background programs you do not need, then test the game. If that changes the result, reopen programs one at a time and retest to narrow down a possible conflict. This is an isolation check, not proof that a particular program is responsible.

8. Record the crash details and contact support
If the game still crashes, note when it happens and capture any error message. Include your PC specifications, Windows version, and DxDiag information when contacting support. Steam’s Tales of ARISE support page identifies Bandai Namco Entertainment as the publisher and provides the official customer-support route.

- Does the crash happen on launch, during a loading screen, or after gameplay has begun?
- What exact error text appears, if any?
- What CPU, GPU, and RAM does your PC have, and which Windows version are you using?
- What does DxDiag report for your system and display device?
