If a character title does not appear in Tales of Eternia Remastered, the usual cause is an unmet requirement, a missed time-limited event, a required follow-up conversation, or a mismatch between the reward popup and the name used in the Title menu. Update to version 2.0.0 or later before troubleshooting; the launch update fixes text issues and changes which data can carry into later playthroughs.
Use the character’s own Title list as the authority, verify the exact condition, and then check timing, location triggers and save data. The guide below explains the requirement families, known character examples, missable events and a recovery path for each situation.

What a missing title usually means
Titles are not awarded from one universal checklist. Each character has separate milestones covering levels, skills or artes, recipes, collections, quizzes, minigames, difficulty challenges and story or location events. Reaching a similar milestone on the wrong character does not satisfy the requirement.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A title can also be awarded under a different English name from the one shown in the text box. For example, the advanced Tales quiz reward popup says “Tales Series Mega Mind,” while the in-game menu lists the title as “Teller of all Tales.” If the popup wording is not an exact match, search the character’s Title list for the menu label before assuming the reward failed.

Finally, some events are tied to a specific story window. The remaster uses an hourglass icon to mark title or item events that can only be completed during a limited period. Missing that window generally requires an earlier save or another playthrough.
Install version 2.0.0 before checking requirements
Bandai Namco Entertainment America’s October 15, 2026 launch-update notice lists version 2.0.0 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Its instruction is: “To ensure the best possible gameplay experience for Tales of Eternia Remastered, please apply the latest update before playing.”
Apply the update, restart the game and load the save again. Version 2.0.0 addresses some text bugs and adds Titles to the carryover elements for second and later playthroughs. A title that appears to be absent on an unpatched installation may therefore be a display or carryover issue rather than a failed condition.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

- Close the game completely rather than leaving it suspended.
- Install the platform’s available update and wait for the process to finish.
- Launch the remaster and check the title-screen or system information for version 2.0.0 or later.
- Reload the save, open the affected character’s Title list and compare the entries there with the reward message you remember.
No authoritative post-2.0.0 source confirms a specific, general title-award bug. Treat an absent title as a requirement, timing, naming or save-state problem until a reproducible platform-specific case is documented.
How title requirements are organized
The following categories cover the conditions described for the remaster. The verification and recovery step depends on the category, so identify the family before repeating an activity.
| Requirement family | What to verify | Timing | Recovery route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level milestones | The listed character has reached the exact level threshold. | Normally available whenever you can continue leveling. | Gain the missing levels, then check the character’s Title list. |
| Skill or arte mastery | The required skill or arte entries are learned or completed by the specified character. | Depends on the individual skill list and story access. | Recheck the list, learn the missing entries and revisit the menu. |
| Recipe and cooking mastery | The required recipes or cooking achievements are complete. | Usually available while the relevant systems remain accessible. | Finish the missing recipes or contest condition and verify the award. |
| Collections | Craymel totals, Lens or treasure counts, the Collector’s Book or Monster Compendium are complete as required. | Some collection events have a story-window follow-up. | Complete the collection, then perform any named NPC conversation or location return. |
| Quizzes | The correct Tales quiz tier has been cleared. | Available only when the quiz can be entered; the reward name may differ from the menu name. | Confirm the menu label rather than repeating a quiz you already cleared. |
| Minigames and score challenges | The required score, time, win or completion condition was met in the named activity. | Activity access can depend on story progress or location. | Repeat the activity and record the result shown on its completion screen. |
| Difficulty and battle challenges | The specified difficulty and battle count or performance requirement were met. | Usually tied to the playthrough and selected difficulty. | Continue on the correct difficulty or use another playthrough if the condition was missed. |
| Story or location triggers | The named event, NPC conversation, return visit or story location was completed. | Some are explicitly limited; an hourglass icon marks those windows. | Reload a save from before the window, revisit the location, or use New Game+. |
Character-specific requirements and checks
Requirements are character-specific. Open the list for the character who performed the action, then compare the exact threshold or completion item shown there. These documented examples show why checking another party member’s progress can be misleading.

Reid
Reid’s level titles are listed at levels 10, 30, 60 and 99. If the level title does not appear, make sure Reid himself—not another active party member—crossed the threshold, then reopen his Title list.
His other requirements include skill goals, recipe mastery, treasure totals and Lens goals. These are separate checks: having the required level does not complete a Lens or treasure title, and collecting an item without satisfying the corresponding total does not complete a collection title.
Reid also has three Tales quiz titles. Check the quiz tier and the menu entry after each completion. The advanced quiz is the documented naming example: its popup reads “Tales Series Mega Mind,” but the Title menu calls it “Teller of all Tales.”
Several Reid titles are tied to activities rather than ordinary combat. The documented list includes the arena, speed challenges, rafting, Craymel Ball, train bombing, Chamballoon, WHIS, sushi and Ocean Offensive. Use the result or completion screen for the named activity as proof that the condition was met; a different minigame or a partial run does not substitute for it.
He also has a Hard-mode Berserker condition requiring 256 battles. Confirm that the game was set to Hard and that the required 256-battle condition was reached in the intended playthrough. If the title is still absent, check the menu label and save state before repeating the battles.

Farah
Farah’s titles include level, skill and recipe conditions, plus skit, cooking-contest and sidequest requirements. For a missing Farah title, verify that the skit or sidequest was completed with the relevant trigger, not merely that Farah was in the party. Cooking-contest progress should be checked against the contest result, while recipe titles require the specified recipe mastery.

Keele
Keele’s documented requirements include obtaining all Greater Craymels, completing recipes, finishing the Collector’s Book and completing the Monster Compendium. He also has location-event titles. A collection can therefore be numerically complete while the title remains locked if the required return visit or conversation has not occurred.
After finishing a Keele collection, follow the Title list’s stated follow-up: speak to the named character or return to the required location if one is specified. Do not assume the award is instantaneous when the final item is recorded.
Meredy
Meredy’s titles include fringing, letters and dance requirements, as well as story-location triggers. These are different kinds of progress. Check the relevant system or activity directly, then revisit the location listed for a story title. A completed dance or letter set does not unlock a location-event title by itself.
Chat
Chat’s documented titles cover levels, skills, recipes, ship upgrades and activities aboard the Van Eltia. For a ship-related title, confirm that the upgrade was actually installed rather than merely obtained. For a Van Eltia activity, complete the named activity and verify its result before checking Chat’s list.
Why the popup and Title menu can disagree
The reward message and the permanent menu entry are not guaranteed to use the same English wording. The advanced Tales quiz demonstrates this directly: “Tales Series Mega Mind” is the popup wording, while “Teller of all Tales” is the Title-menu wording.
- Write down the wording shown in the reward popup.
- Open the correct character’s Title list.
- Look for the corresponding entry even if the English name is different.
- Check whether the entry has a completion mark or an equipped-title option.
Do not repeat a difficult quiz, minigame or battle challenge solely because the popup text does not match the menu. First establish that the menu entry itself is missing.

Which titles are missable?
Look for an hourglass icon in the feature or event information. The remaster uses that icon for title or item events available only during a limited story period. A title tied to such an event is missable in the current save if the party advances beyond the window without completing it.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Signs that an event window was missed
- The requirement names a story location or a return visit that is no longer available.
- An NPC who previously offered the event no longer has the relevant conversation.
- The title list still shows the entry after the associated story chapter has ended.
- The event information carried an hourglass icon.
Recovery options
- Load a save from before the hourglass-marked event expired.
- Return to the named NPC or location and complete the follow-up if the area remains accessible.
- If no suitable save exists, continue on another playthrough and complete the event during its window.
Do not erase the current save while investigating. Keep the original file until you have confirmed whether the event can still be triggered.
A complete troubleshooting sequence
Follow these steps in order. They separate a display mismatch from an unmet condition and preserve a recovery path if the title is genuinely missable.
- Patch and restart. Install version 2.0.0 or later, close the game and launch it again.
- Open the correct list. From the game’s Title menu, select the character named by the requirement. A party-wide action does not automatically award a title to every character.
- Compare the menu label. Search for the menu name rather than relying on the exact popup wording. The “Tales Series Mega Mind” and “Teller of all Tales” difference is the known example.
- Classify the requirement. Decide whether it is a level, skill or arte, recipe, collection, quiz, minigame, difficulty or story/location condition.
- Check the exact threshold. Verify the character, level, number of items, recipe list, Craymel total, Lens or treasure total, quiz tier, score, time, difficulty or battle count specified by the entry.
- Perform the follow-up. If the checklist names a conversation, NPC, return visit or location, complete it after the collection or activity. Some titles are awarded only after this second trigger.
- Check timing. Look for the hourglass indicator and determine whether the story has advanced past the event window.
- Reload or revisit. Use an earlier save for a closed window; otherwise return to the named location and speak with the required NPC again.
- Verify activity results. For arena, speed, rafting, Craymel Ball, train bombing, Chamballoon, WHIS, sushi, Ocean Offensive or another minigame, confirm the recorded completion result rather than assuming a partial attempt counted.
- Test the save state. Save in a new slot, restart and check the Title list again. This distinguishes a delayed menu refresh from a missing condition without sacrificing the original file.
- Use a later playthrough when necessary. On a cleared-save New Game+, review the carryover settings. Version 2.0.0 specifically adds Titles to the carryover elements for second and later playthroughs.
- Document a reproducible case. Record platform, game version, character, exact Title-menu label, completed condition, story location and save type before contacting support.
New Game+ and title carryover
Titles are included among the carryover elements for second and later playthroughs under version 2.0.0. This matters both for recovery and for planning: a missable event can be attempted again without treating the original save as defective.
Use a cleared save when starting New Game+, then inspect the transfer settings before confirming the new run. The publisher’s update notice is the authority for the changed carryover behavior; an older, unpatched save may not present the same options.
Common mistakes that look like bugs
Checking the wrong character
Leveling Reid does not satisfy a Farah, Keele, Meredy or Chat title, even when they participated in the same battle or activity. Always open the named character’s list.

Stopping at the collection total
Some collection titles include a conversation or location return after the final item. Complete that follow-up before concluding that the award failed.
Repeating an activity with the wrong condition
A title may require a particular difficulty, score, time, win or battle count. Repeating the activity without matching that qualifier produces the same result.
Assuming every title is permanent
Hourglass-marked events are time-limited. Once the story passes the window, more ordinary exploration will not reopen the event in that save.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSearching for popup text only
The menu can use a different English name. Search the permanent Title list and use its label when reporting the issue.
How to report a genuinely reproducible problem
After updating and repeating the checks above, report only a case that can be reproduced from a known save. Include:
- Platform: Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S or Steam.
- Installed version, including confirmation that it is 2.0.0 or later.
- Character and the exact Title-menu wording.
- The complete requirement and the evidence that each part was met.
- Whether the event had an hourglass icon or a story-window restriction.
- Any required NPC conversation, location return, quiz tier, score, time, difficulty or battle count.
- Whether the save is an original run or a cleared-save New Game+ run, and which carryover settings were selected.
This information lets support distinguish an unmet requirement or missed window from a platform-specific award problem. At present, there is no authoritative confirmation of a broad post-2.0.0 title-award defect.
Quick Recap
Practical checklist
- Version 2.0.0 or later is installed and the game was restarted.
- The correct character’s Title list is open.
- The menu label, not only the popup wording, was checked.
- The exact level, skill, arte, recipe, collection, quiz, minigame, difficulty or story condition was verified.
- Any required NPC conversation or location return was completed.
- Hourglass-marked timing was checked before advancing further.
- An earlier save was preserved if an event may have been missed.
- New Game+ carryover settings were reviewed on a cleared save.
