“Tales of Symphonia: Definitive Edition” is the name of an unofficial fan project, not an official Bandai Namco release. The official console edition is Tales of Symphonia Remastered; the Steam game is listed simply as Tales of Symphonia. If you want a console release, look for Tales of Symphonia Remastered. If you want the PC release and access to community modifications, look for Tales of Symphonia on Steam. Steam Deck Verified is a store compatibility designation, not a promise of identical performance across every PC or configuration.

Does it have multiplayer or co-op?
Yes, but the documented co-op is local and takes place during real-time battles. Bandai Namco says Remastered supports up to three friends joining the host, or four players total. The official descriptions do not establish four-player story exploration or built-in online multiplayer. Do not buy the game expecting online co-op based on these features.

Are there PC mods?
Yes. A Steam Community guide documents the community-made Tales of Symphonia Fix for the Steam release. It describes technical fixes and optional enhancements, including a framerate limiter fix, rendering and resolution options, texture support, anti-aliasing, and adjustments related to menu hitching and load times. What about the fan-made “Definitive Edition” project?
A Reddit community post dated October 4, 2026 reported that the team behind a fan project called Tales of Symphonia: Definitive Edition was preparing for public testing on October 11, 2026. That report does not confirm a public download, a release, or supported platforms. It is an unofficial status update, so check the project’s own current channels rather than treating the name as an available official edition. Reddit post.

Bandai Namco describes Remastered as a release focused on the original Tales of Symphonia; it does not include Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. The publisher says the remaster carries over additional costumes, Mystic Artes, and Compound Unison attacks, and offers English and Japanese voice options.
