1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor a new Tap Force account, build around six main fighters, advance the campaign, and save four-skill elite copies rather than using them as promotion material. Prioritize useful unlocks over leveling every fighter: the community guide identifies level 80 for weapons, level 180 for a fourth skill, and level 240 for a second dragon slot and charms. These are practical starting points, not a guaranteed best team; your roster and the mode you play should guide individual choices.
How to start building a beginner team
Tap Force is a free-to-play retro pixel fighter game with campaign battles, PvP, clubs, and group events, according to the official Tap Force website and Google Play listing. Early on, aim for a functional group of six fighters rather than waiting for a perfect lineup. The unofficial Combat Codex beginner guide recommends choosing six fighters you have available, pushing the campaign, joining a club, and holding mastery scrolls until your core team and faction plans are clearer (Combat Codex beginner guide; Combat Codex progression guide).
That is a flexible plan, not a rule that every account must use the same six. Consider which fighters you can actually promote, what role each fills, and which mode you want to progress in. A roster that works in campaign may not be the best choice for Arena, faction-locked content, or Mech Event.
Choose for roles and the mode you play
- Campaign: Build a team that can survive and make steady progress. Control effects become more relevant in later campaign stages, according to the Combat Codex guide.
- Arena: Prioritize the matchup and the way fighters support or disrupt one another; a campaign-focused lineup is not automatically an Arena lineup.
- Faction-locked content: Plan around the fighters available in the required faction. Combat Codex reports that faction advantage grants +30% damage and +15% hit chance, though these figures come from its unofficial beginner guide and should be checked against current in-game information.
- Mech Event: Specialized boss teams can matter, but the guide recommends establishing a campaign core before investing heavily in Mech-specific specialization.
When comparing two fighters, look beyond a single tier ranking. Ask whether each one fits your target mode and role—damage, control, support, or survivability—and whether you have the copies and resources to promote it. Factor in skill unlocks, faction matchups, and access to equipment or dragon slots as the account develops. Combat Codex cautions that a fighter’s value can vary substantially by mode (Combat Codex beginner guide).

Why levels should stay focused on six fighters
Combat Codex says Hard Mode, Sewers, and Club Smash scale both teams to your sixth-highest fighter. Under that system, raising a seventh fighter above the core six can lift the opponent baseline without providing a matching benefit to your main group. The guide therefore recommends keeping six principal fighters as your level core. This is a mechanic reported by an unofficial fan guide, not a developer statement; if a current in-game tooltip differs, follow the game.
The guide also suggests getting other useful fighters to level 80 for weapon access in auto-level modes, while avoiding a level that pushes one above the core six. This can be a practical way to prepare a bench fighter, but check the level relationship before spending resources: the trade-off is that an extra fighter’s level may affect enemy scaling in those modes.

Keep elite fighters out of the promotion-food pile
Before fusing or promoting, check a fighter’s skill slots. Combat Codex distinguishes four-skill elites from three-skill food fighters and advises retaining elite copies, including duplicates, because copies may be useful for later promotion (Combat Codex Fighters & Factions).
The progression guide adds a separate caution: do not take multiple copies of the same elite beyond Ultra, and remember that resets return listed leveling resources but do not return fused copies (Combat Codex progression guide). Because fusion decisions can be irreversible, verify the skill count and copy requirements in the current game before using any fighter as material.

Use unlocks as upgrade landmarks
The following milestones are reported by Combat Codex’s progression guide. They help explain why a level may matter beyond its raw stat increase. Confirm the current in-game tooltip in case a game update changes an unlock or its name.
| Milestone | Reported unlock or significance |
|---|---|
| Level 80 | Weapon access |
| Level 180 / Master | Fourth skill unlock |
| Level 240 / Grandmaster | Second dragon slot and charms |
| Level 280 / GM+ IV | A common endgame-ready benchmark in the guide, not a requirement for a beginner |
These details come from an unofficial community guide, not an official developer publication. Treat them as planning landmarks rather than guarantees about the current version (Combat Codex progression guide).

A manageable progression routine
Campaign advancement is a useful early priority: Combat Codex presents it as a source of gold and XP. The same guide recommends checking offline rewards, using Arena tickets, looking at daily shop stock, and taking part in available club and event modes. You do not have to treat every mode or purchase as mandatory.
- Collect offline rewards. Claim available resources when you return.
- Push campaign. Progress as far as your current team can manage to pursue the gold and XP the guide associates with campaign advancement.
- Use Arena tickets. Spend available tickets if PvP fits your goals; it is one part of progression, not a required focus for every player.
- Check the daily shop. Review what is available before deciding whether a purchase is worth your resources; stock and recommendations can change.
- Join a club and check its activities. Combat Codex identifies club events, including Club Smash, as sources of progression rewards.
- Take available event opportunities. Check Mech Event, Hard Mode, Sewers, and rotating events when they are open and useful for your account.
Combat Codex describes this as a short daily routine, but that is the guide author’s framing, not a measured time study. Its gem-pull and shop-spending suggestions are community advice that may become outdated; do not treat them as official odds or universal spending rules (Combat Codex progression guide).

Which advice is official, and what can change?
The official website describes Tap Force as a free-to-play game; Google Play describes its campaign, PvP, clubs, and group events. The store listing records an update date of September 1, 2026, but a store metadata date does not verify that every mechanic or recommendation on a fan guide is current. Combat Codex says its progression material draws on community data and game-code verification, and its footer states it is not affiliated with Tap Force or its developers. Its rankings, currency recommendations, and detailed mechanics should therefore be read as unofficial guidance, particularly when making costly or irreversible decisions.
For a new account, the durable approach is to focus your levels, protect elite copies, progress through campaign, and use clubs and available events for additional opportunities. Let the roster you own and the mode you care about determine where your next resources go.
