What changed in the Scout pants update?
On October 24, 2024, Valve’s official Team Fortress 2 update notes said: “Fixed BLU Scout using the incorrect team color pants.” The correction concerned the BLU Scout’s pants color; it was not described as a broader Scout redesign.
Why was the fix reverted?
The October 25, 2024 update notes recorded the reversal: “Reverted BLU Scout pants fix because it conflicts with too many existing cosmetics.” Valve’s note gives compatibility with existing cosmetics as the reason, but does not name the items or explain how the conflict worked.
Was it really a 17-year-old bug?
PC Gamer described the issue as a 17-year-old bug in its October 2024 coverage and updated that report on October 26 to note the reversion: PC Gamer’s report. That is the age framing used in the coverage; the reviewed sources do not establish the precise date the pants issue began.

Is the Scout pants fix in the game now?
The documented correction was reverted on October 25, 2024. The official TF2 update archive lists later updates, including updates from October 2026, but the sources reviewed do not establish whether a permanent version of this particular fix was applied later. They also do not verify how every cosmetic, server, mod, or game build currently renders the pants.
