Terra Invicta launched its Steam 1.0 release on January 5, 2026, ending more than three years in Early Access. The 35% discount that accompanied its launch was temporary; it should not be mistaken for a current offer. The game is a sprawling single-player strategy simulation about shaping humanity’s response to an alien invasion, from politics on Earth to conflict across the Solar System.
What is Terra Invicta?
Developed by Pavonis Interactive and published by Hooded Horse, Terra Invicta is a science-fiction grand strategy game with 4X, economic, diplomatic, management and tactical-combat elements. Its premise begins with an alien invasion that divides humanity into seven ideological factions. You guide one faction as it competes to influence or control Earth’s nations, expands into space and fights enemy fleets.

The factions pursue different outcomes: resisting the invaders, assisting them, seeking surrender or an alliance, profiting from the crisis, or trying to escape aboard a generation ship. The official Steam listing describes the game as single-player and includes features such as Steam Workshop, Steam Cloud, achievements, trading cards and family sharing.
Is Terra Invicta out of Early Access?
Yes. The game entered Steam Early Access on September 26, 2022, and released as version 1.0 on January 5, 2026. At launch, a report by Notebookcheck noted additions including 2026 and 2070 starting scenarios, expanded Earth regions, five added languages and late-game performance work. Those are launch-period details, not a guarantee that the same scenario lineup or mechanics remain unchanged; consult the current Steam page and patch notes for the latest information.

What was the 35% launch discount?
The 35% discount was a January 2026 launch promotion. Notebookcheck reported a discounted price of $25.99 at the time. That figure is historical, not a current price: Steam prices and promotions can vary by region and date, so check the live Steam listing for the offer available to you.
What do Steam reviews say?
In a Steam listing snapshot captured October 8, 2026, 82% of 6,613 English-language reviews were positive, earning the lifetime “Very Positive” label. For the preceding 30 days, 77% of 99 reviews were positive, which Steam labeled “Mostly Positive.” The recent figure is lower, and it reflects a much smaller sample and shorter period; neither rating guarantees that an individual player will enjoy the game. Review counts and labels change over time.
These figures are distinct from the launch snapshot: Notebookcheck reported 82% positive across more than 7,300 Steam reviews in January 2026. Do not combine that earlier count with the later Steam snapshot.

Steam publishes minimum and recommended Windows PC specifications on the game’s store page. Check those current requirements against your own computer before buying; the broad label “gaming PC” alone does not establish compatibility. The listing also reports 14 supported languages in its October 8, 2026 snapshot, with English full audio and subtitles and other languages varying in interface, audio and subtitle support.
Is Terra Invicta worth buying?
That depends on whether its particular kind of strategy appeals to you. It brings together political competition among Earth’s nations, long-term expansion through the Solar System and tactical fleet battles, so it is best suited to players seeking a complex, long-form simulation rather than a narrowly focused strategy game. The Steam ratings offer one signal of reception, but the lower recent rating and smaller recent sample are worth weighing alongside the lifetime score. For a practical decision, compare the game’s systems and current price with your interests, then check your platform and PC compatibility where relevant.
