Shooting is still part of the game: to fire, you get an opponent in your line of sight, type their name and press Enter. The unusual part is that typing replaces conventional button controls.
How typing works in Text Battle Royale
Rebourne Studios’ Steam description says every action is performed by typing, including walking, running, looting, equipping a gun, reloading, healing, throwing a grenade and taunting. To shoot, the listing instructs players to put an enemy in their line of sight, type the enemy’s name and press Enter.
That makes the keyboard the game’s main input method rather than a way to enter chat while using ordinary movement and attack buttons. The store description presents the typed command system as its central mechanic; it does not specify a required keyboard brand, layout or switch type.
Battle royale modes and customization
Online matches and versus bots
Steam describes Text Battle Royale as an online multiplayer game. A Rebourne Studios update announcement dated September 18, 2026, describes a versus-bots mode. That dated announcement establishes that the mode was announced, not the current state of every build or the size of the active player base.

Custom games
Hosts can adjust custom-game variables, including health, speed, weapon damage, loot drops, ammunition, zone speed and name length, according to the Steam listing. Those options provide ways to change match conditions, including details directly relevant to typing targets.
Unlockables
The Steam description says more than 100 customization items can be unlocked through leveling and challenges. This is a feature count stated by the developer in the product description, not an independently measured total. Steam lists 16 achievements for the game.

Release, platform and cost
Steam lists Text Battle Royale as released on September 16, 2026, with Rebourne Studios as developer and publisher. The base game is listed as free to play for Windows. A separate paid Supporter’s Pack is described as containing three animated sprays, three kill signatures and three voice-acted taunts; it is optional content, not a requirement to play the free base game.

Violence and online interaction disclosure
In its developer-provided mature-content description on Steam, Rebourne Studios says players control a top-down character tasked with killing other players. Shots produce red blood spatter, and a killed player’s body is replaced by a skull. Steam also notes in-game chat and online interactivity.
