What did Tez2 say about a GTA IV release?
In May 2025, GameSpot reported Tez2 saying that “Someone at Rockstar hinted at the IV port” and that it “may end up” coming out later that year. GamesRadar quoted a GTA Forums post in which Tez2 said the project should have been a year into development and that it might arrive later in 2025. Neither outlet presented the claim as confirmed by Rockstar. GameSpot’s report and GamesRadar’s coverage attribute the information to Tez2, not to an official Rockstar announcement.

Was the rumored project a remaster or a port?
The headline phrase “GTA IV remaster” was not the most precise description of the reported claim. GamesRadar distinguished a port from a remaster, and in a later report Tez2 explicitly clarified: “It’s not a remaster.” He also said he did not know the target platforms, which version the port would be based on, or which studio would handle it. ComicBook.com’s follow-up reported that Tez2 said the information he had was from 2024 and could already have been outdated.
A port generally means adapting an existing game to another platform; that description does not establish the scale of technical changes, visual upgrades, or other features. The reporting did not confirm any such details for this possible project.

What was known about platforms and release timing?
The cited reports did not identify a target platform list, a release date, or a specific version of GTA IV for the rumored port. Tez2’s reported estimate was only that it might arrive later in 2025. Because the comment was unconfirmed and could have relied on older information, it should not be treated as a current release schedule.
For context, the original Grand Theft Auto IV first released on April 29, 2008, for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, according to GameSpot. Those are the original game’s platforms, not confirmed platforms for a new port.

How does the GTA VI delay fit into the story?
When the GTA IV rumor circulated in May 2025, Take-Two said GTA VI was planned for May 26, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The later official schedule changed: on June 24, 2026, Take-Two announced a planned launch date of November 19, 2026, for those consoles. The GTA VI date change does not confirm the GTA IV project or establish a connection between the two. They are separate claims: one is a publisher’s official planned date for GTA VI, and the other is an unconfirmed report about a possible GTA IV port.

Is the GTA IV port available now?
The reports cited here do not establish whether a GTA IV port was later announced, released, or cancelled. They are evidence of what Tez2 reportedly said in 2025, not proof of the project’s current status. Check Rockstar’s official channels or a platform’s official store for a current announcement before relying on a claimed release date or platform list.
The original GTA IV is a separate existing game. A listing for the original PC, PS3, or Xbox 360 release should not be mistaken for the rumored modern port or a remaster; verify current availability and compatibility for your platform before buying.

How this differs from an earlier remaster rumor
A separate 2022 report said GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption remasters had been considered but not pursued. That earlier claim is distinct from Tez2’s later report about a possible port, and it does not confirm or explain the 2025 rumor. GameSpot’s 2022 report covered the earlier remaster claim.
