On Windows, the most useful first checks are whether the overlay is enabled, whether Mobalytics detects League of Legends, and whether another overlay or a permissions mismatch is getting in the way.
The fixes below separate a detection problem from an overlay-display problem, so you can avoid changing settings that do not match your symptom.
Does Mobalytics TFT work on your platform?
Windows
Mobalytics currently distributes its TFT Companion for Windows. Its download page says the app uses the Overwolf framework, so depending on your installation you may see Overwolf settings or processes alongside Mobalytics. Product support and packaging can change; check the current Mobalytics TFT download page for the latest platform details.
Mac
Mobalytics’ current download FAQ says the TFT Companion does not work on Mac and is now Windows-only. That means changing macOS permissions or reinstalling the native Mac app is not a supported fix for the current Companion. Mobalytics does not confirm native support for Intel Macs, Apple silicon, Boot Camp, virtual machines, or compatibility layers on that page; results in a Windows environment are not evidence of native macOS support. Start with the quick Windows checks
- Restart the game and companion apps. Quit the Riot Client, League/TFT, Mobalytics, and Overwolf if it is running. Restart Windows, then open Mobalytics and start League through the usual Riot Client route.
- Confirm the overlay is enabled. In Mobalytics, open the settings cog, choose Overlay settings, and enable the overlay. Menu wording can differ by app version.
- Check Overwolf if your installation uses it. Older Mobalytics instructions say to open Overwolf’s Overlay & Hotkeys settings, allow Mobalytics for League of Legends, then restart Overwolf. These 2020-era instructions may not match every current installation. See Mobalytics’ overlay activation guide and its alternate activation instructions.
- Update Mobalytics and your graphics driver. Mobalytics says its app prompts when an update is available. Use the official download page for the installer; avoid third-party download sites.
- Temporarily close competing overlays and monitoring tools. Test with only Riot/League and Mobalytics running. If that works, reopen other tools one at a time to identify the conflict.
- Check the League installation path. If Mobalytics cannot find the game, verify its detected League folder in the app’s game or integration settings.
If Mobalytics does not detect TFT
When the app opens but does not recognize the game, focus on game detection rather than overlay placement. Confirm League is installed, start it through the Riot Client, and check that Mobalytics points to the actual League installation folder. An example used in Mobalytics’ older guide is C:Riot GamesLeague of Legends; your location may be on another drive or in a custom folder.
- Open Mobalytics’ game or League integration settings and inspect the detected installation path.
- If it is wrong, browse to the folder containing your League installation and save the corrected path.
- Quit and reopen Mobalytics, launch the Riot Client, then test detection again.
- If detection still fails, check Mobalytics’ known bugs and issues and FAQ for current client-detection reports.
A new game patch or app update can affect detection. If only one feature fails while the game is detected, treat it as a possibly feature-specific problem rather than assuming the entire overlay is broken.

If TFT is detected but the overlay is missing
Match the apps’ permissions
Mobalytics recommends running both its app and the League game client as administrator when the overlay is enabled but not visible. Try it as a controlled test:
- Close the Riot Client, League/TFT, Mobalytics, and Overwolf.
- Right-click Mobalytics and choose Run as administrator.
- Launch the Riot Client or League client with the same privilege level, then start TFT and test the overlay.
If this makes the overlay appear, it points to a permissions mismatch; it does not mean every related process should be elevated indefinitely. Use official installers and avoid broad security exceptions. Mobalytics’ recommendation is documented in its overlay activation guide.

Rule out antivirus or another overlay
Mobalytics lists antivirus and overclocking software as possible blockers. Its older troubleshooting page names MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner, GeForce Experience, DisplayFusion, and Wallpaper Engine; other possible conflicts include Discord, NVIDIA or AMD overlays, Xbox Game Bar, streaming/capture software, and other game overlays. A conflict is not established just because one of these is installed.
- Temporarily close overlay, capture, and hardware-monitoring utilities, then test again.
- If the overlay works, reopen the tools one at a time to isolate the conflict.
- Check Windows Security or your antivirus quarantine for a specific Mobalytics file that was blocked.
- Only consider a narrowly targeted exception for a verified Mobalytics executable or folder, and follow guidance from Mobalytics and your security vendor. Restore protection after temporary testing; do not leave antivirus disabled.

If the overlay is off-screen, shifted, or distorted
An overlay that exists but appears in the wrong place points more toward display layout or scaling than game detection. Mobalytics’ 2020 troubleshooting page recommends updating video drivers, testing native 1920×1080 resolution and 100% display scaling, avoiding other fullscreen applications, refreshing the app in-game, and checking the League path. Those are legacy diagnostics, not confirmed requirements for the current client.
- Off-screen: check monitor arrangement and saved overlay position; test with one monitor if practical.
- Shifted or squished: temporarily test native resolution and default scaling, then compare fullscreen and borderless/windowed modes.
- Hidden behind another window: close other fullscreen applications and refresh the overlay in-game.
- Only one display or mode fails: note the monitor setup and game display mode so support can reproduce it.
Change one display setting at a time and restore your preferred configuration after testing. The older Mobalytics guidance is at Overlay Not Appearing.

Vanguard, crashes, and safety
Riot says supported API- or client-based applications are expected to keep working with Vanguard, while tools that read game memory externally may be blocked. Mobalytics says its TFT Companion complies with Riot’s Terms of Service and is allowed by Vanguard. These are Riot’s and Mobalytics’ stated positions, not a guarantee that every future app version or implementation will remain compatible. See Riot’s Vanguard FAQ and Mobalytics’ Companion page.
If League crashes, hangs, or repeatedly reconnects after enabling the overlay, turn the overlay off and undo recent changes rather than adding broad antivirus exclusions or making repeated configuration edits. Collect the error details and contact Mobalytics support.
Advanced, legacy DirectX fix
Mobalytics published a January 2022 article for highlights and overlay problems that suggests DirectX-related values in League’s game.cfg: DX11BetaTest=1 and PreferDX9LegacyMode=0. This is dated guidance for a particular class of issue, not a general first-line fix for every current TFT overlay failure. The game’s configuration and graphics support may have changed since it was written.
Only consider editing this file if the ordinary checks fail and the symptoms fit that older DirectX issue. Back up game.cfg first, record the original values, and undo your change if League behaves abnormally. The original steps are in Mobalytics’ highlights and overlay troubleshooting article.

If the app still fails after the relevant checks, consult the known-issues page, then submit a support request or use the Mobalytics support site. Include enough detail to distinguish launch, detection, and display failures:
