The watchlist turned that disagreement into a public flashpoint—but it is not an official Embark Studios enforcement system, and the currently linked .com site says its displayed data is fictional and automatically generated.
Why PvP behavior is disputed in ARC Raiders
ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction adventure developed and published by Embark Studios. Steam lists online PvP and co-op among its features and describes Raiders facing both lethal machines and unpredictable choices from other survivors. Its official description leaves the question of conduct to players: “In the end, only you decide what kind of Raider you are – and how far you’ll go to prevail.” Steam’s ARC Raiders page
That setup helps explain the disagreement without settling it. A player who trusts another Raider and is then attacked may call the encounter betrayal; a player who ambushes someone near an extraction point may regard it as a legitimate tactic. Coverage of the debate records both objections to such behavior and arguments that adversarial encounters belong in a PvPvE extraction game. What the original Speranza Watchlist was
The original watchlist was presented as a place to submit reports about players, including their Embark IDs. Its launch post framed the idea provocatively: the author described identifying friendly or “gullible” players they had betrayed. Contemporary reporting characterized the project as an unofficial, satirical role-play outlet—not an Embark reporting channel or a system that could impose in-game penalties. That distinction matters: a public post or report is an allegation or a player’s account, not a confirmed finding of misconduct. The original premise also made the joke easy to read less as harmless role-play and more as a board for naming and shaming people.
Why the watchlist itself became controversial
The launch thread drew mixed reactions. Some commenters joined in with the joke; others objected to public identification, privacy risks or the possibility that players could be targeted based on unverified claims. The watchlist therefore became part of the argument it purported to capture. Players already disagreed about where acceptable PvP ends and objectionable conduct begins; making reports public raised a second question: who gets to label another player, and what safeguards exist if the account is wrong? 404 Media later reported that, after its story appeared, the creator changed the site and deleted the Reddit account amid accusations of doxxing. Two similarly named sites make different claims about their content and process. Their descriptions are self-reported; they do not independently establish the accuracy of data or reports.

These are distinct domains with distinct stated practices. In particular, the .eu site’s description should not be used to imply that the .com site contains verified reports—or that any report on either site is an official finding.

What players should take from a watchlist entry
- It is not an official verdict. Neither site describes itself as an Embark Studios enforcement tool.
- A report is not proof. The .eu site explicitly characterizes entries as subjective experiences and disclaims accuracy and objectivity; the .com site says its data is fictional and generated.
- “Toxic” is contested here. Sources show disagreement about PvP norms, not an agreed standard that makes a particular tactic objectively toxic.
- Comments are not a census. The launch thread demonstrates that some people joked along while others objected, but cannot establish what the player base as a whole thinks.
