When is Boxing Day 2026 in Canada?
Boxing Day falls on December 26. Best Buy Canada says its Boxing Day sale returns in December 2026, but that announcement does not specify when gaming offers will begin or which products will be discounted. Best Buy also says retailers have started deals before Boxing Day in previous years; that is a reason to check early, not a guarantee of an early 2026 sale. Which gaming categories are worth checking?
Boxing Day gaming offers can extend beyond console hardware. Best Buy’s Canadian sale pages include several categories to monitor:
- Consoles and bundles: Compare the exact console model and what comes in the box.
- Games: Check the platform and edition, and compare physical copies with digital purchases.
- PC gaming: Look for gaming PCs and handheld gaming PCs, as well as PC games.
- Accessories: Controllers, headsets, and other gear may be discounted; verify compatibility with your system.
- Displays: TVs may appear among gaming-related sale listings, but check their specifications against your needs.

What have Canadian holiday gaming offers looked like before?
Past promotions show the kinds of offers that may be worth comparing, but they do not predict 2026 discounts. The examples below are historical and were available only under the terms and dates of their respective promotions.
Nintendo’s 2025 holiday promotion
Nintendo of Canada’s 2025 Boxing Week promotion included offers on Switch and Switch 2 games, bundles, digital games, and storage. Nintendo stated that offers could vary by retailer.

Amazon Canada’s 2024 Boxing Day event
Amazon Canada advertised up to 52% off select PlayStation VR2 and Sony headsets, up to 30% off select Nintendo games, and up to 30% off select Xbox controllers and Backbone products during its December 20–26, 2024 event. How to tell whether a gaming deal is worth buying
A headline discount is useful only if the listing matches what you want and the Canadian price is competitive. Before checkout, compare the following:
- Exact product: Match the game title and edition, console model, or accessory model—not just the brand or product family.
- Platform and compatibility: Confirm whether a game is for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, or PC. Check an accessory’s compatibility with your console or device.
- Format: Compare physical copies with digital purchases. A bundle that includes a download is not the same as one with a physical game.
- Bundle contents: Separate the console’s price from the value of included games or accessories. Make sure you would use the extras.
- Canadian price and seller: Compare the current price, seller, stock, and offer dates across retailers. A discount claim alone does not establish that an item is the best available deal.
Should you wait until Boxing Day to shop?
Not necessarily. Best Buy’s note that some retailers have launched deals early in previous years makes it sensible to start checking ahead of December 26, while remembering that no 2026 gaming schedule has been confirmed. Historical shopping data can help explain when attention rises, but it cannot tell you when a worthwhile price will appear.

Walmart Connect Canada’s report on its November–December 2024 data found that online gaming sales volume peaked around Black Friday; in-store sales had an initial Black Friday jump and another notable peak in Christmas week. Gaming search interest was concentrated around Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas week. For a 2026 purchase, check Canadian listings as promotions are announced, compare the same product across retailers, and confirm stock and sale dates before deciding. Until live offers appear, no specific deal can be called the best Boxing Day gaming deal in Canada.
