His support-oriented form is usually the strongest general-purpose choice because it adds Pyro application, team utility, and Elemental RES reduction. Switch to his damage-oriented form when the team is built around maximizing Durin’s own Vaporize, Melt, Overloaded, or Burgeon damage.
Durin released on December 3, 2025, in Version 6.2, “Luna III.” The recommendations below follow the current Version Luna III analysis from KQM; some values and rankings may change as further testing continues.

Durin’s best build at a glance
| Build choice | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Role | Off-field Pyro Burst damage and team support |
| Form | Support form by default; damage form for Durin-focused reaction damage |
| Weapon | Athame Artis; existing 5-star CRIT Swords are close alternatives |
| Support artifact set | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige for ATK-scaling teams; 4-piece Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City for teams whose damage dealers do not scale with ATK |
| DPS artifact set | 2-piece Noblesse Oblige + 2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames, or a reaction-specific four-piece set |
| Sands | ATK%; use ER% when the team requires more than roughly 150% ER |
| Goblet | Pyro DMG Bonus or ATK%, depending on substats and team buffs |
| Circlet | CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG |
| Substats | Enough ER to Burst every rotation, then CRIT, ATK%, EM, and flat ATK |
Durin’s final build depends heavily on his teammates. Do not automatically use zero ER, a Pyro goblet, or the same artifact set in every team.
Which Durin form should you use?
Use Durin’s support form when the team needs reliable off-field Pyro application, utility, and resistance reduction. This is the default form for Overload, many quickswap teams, and teams where another character is the main damage dealer.
#1 Best Overall
- GENSHIN IMPACT Mondstadt Themed Series Character Stand - Durin
Use his damage-oriented form when Durin is expected to deal a large share of the team’s reaction damage. It is particularly appropriate for Vaporize and Melt teams with enough Hydro or Cryo application to maintain the intended reaction pattern. It can also be valuable in reaction-focused Overloaded and Burgeon teams.
Durin prefers having at least one other Hexerei character because his A1 passive becomes stronger, but he remains functional without one. This is an improvement rather than a requirement.
Energy Recharge requirements
Durin does not universally need zero ER. His Skill can refund Energy, but that only removes the requirement in rotations with sufficiently favorable Skill usage and particle generation.
KQM’s approximate requirements assume one Skill cast at Talent Level 9:
| Pyro teammates | Off-field Durin | On-field Durin |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 120–150% ER | — |
| 1 | 100–150% ER | 100–125% ER |
| 2 | 100–110% ER | About 100% ER |
If Durin can cast his Skill twice in a rotation, he may not need ER for that rotation. Test the actual team rather than copying a single percentage: missing his Burst is usually a larger loss than sacrificing some CRIT or ATK.
An ER Sands becomes appropriate when the team requires more than approximately 150% ER. Also remember that if Durin starts with a full Burst, he does not benefit from the first Energy refund created by activating his form.
Durin artifact stats
- Sands: ATK% is generally best. EM becomes competitive when teammates provide substantial ATK buffs or Durin consistently triggers reactions.
- Goblet: Pyro DMG Bonus and ATK% perform roughly similarly. Use whichever has better substats and fits the team’s buffs.
- Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG, chosen to maintain a balanced final ratio.
- Substats: ER until the rotation requirement is met, then CRIT, ATK%, EM, and flat ATK.
ATK% is unusually valuable for Durin because his A4 passive adds ATK scaling to the first 10 hits of his Burst. Its maximum value is reached at 2,500 ATK. This does not mean ATK should replace ER or CRIT blindly, but it does make ATK% more competitive than it is for many other ATK-scaling characters.

Best artifact sets
4-piece Noblesse Oblige
Noblesse Oblige is Durin’s default support set for ATK-scaling damage dealers. It is also a strong DPS option when nobody else can carry it and the team benefits more from its team buff than from a personal damage set.
4-piece Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City
Use Scroll when the team’s Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo damage dealers do not scale with ATK. Its four-piece effect can be difficult to activate consistently in teams with two other Pyro characters because Durin may not reliably trigger the required reaction.
4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames
Crimson Witch is best suited to Overvape teams. It remains usable in Melt and Vaporize teams, where it can perform similarly to strong two-piece combinations.
4-piece Gilded Dreams
Gilded Dreams is the specialist choice when Durin triggers Burgeon. Its EM focus is less valuable when another character consistently owns the reaction.
Rank #3
- Genshin Impact "Ode to a Sweet Afternoon" Furina Chibi Figure
4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate
Emblem is a generalist DPS set when Durin has a high ER requirement. Do not farm it specifically for a low-ER Durin, since 2-piece Crimson Witch plus 2-piece Noblesse offers similar damage bonuses and is often more efficient.
4-piece Marechaussee Hunter
Marechaussee Hunter works for an on-field Durin in Furina teams. Watch the CRIT Rate total because the set can cause overcapping once its effect is active.
Other options
4-piece Archaic Petra is a niche support choice for teams with a Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo DPS and a Geo teammate such as Albedo or Xilonen. Its effect can be hard to activate against large or mobile enemies.

While farming, use 2-piece Noblesse Oblige plus 2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames. Two-piece ATK%, EM, Pyro DMG, Burst DMG, or ER combinations are also sensible temporary options.
Best weapons for Durin
Athame Artis
Athame Artis is Durin’s best support and DPS Sword. Its CRIT Rate, Burst DMG, and ATK effects align with his scaling and normal rotation. The passive is strongest with at least one other Hexerei character.
However, Athame Artis is not dramatically better than every alternative. If you already own a 5-star CRIT Sword, KQM describes the improvement as small enough that Durin’s Constellations may be a more worthwhile investment.
Rank #4
- Genshin Impact Fun in the Snow Seies Keychain - Durin
Freedom-Sworn
Freedom-Sworn is a strong support option when Durin buffs an ATK-scaling Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack damage dealer.
Recommended Free Tools
Favonius Sword
Favonius improves the entire team’s Energy economy and is valuable when teammates struggle to Burst on schedule. Once the team already meets its ER requirements, a damage-oriented Sword usually produces more total damage.
Xiphos’ Moonlight
Xiphos can outperform Favonius for Durin’s personal damage, but it requires EM investment for its passive. It is most relevant when Durin triggers Burgeon or Overloaded.
Wolf-Fang
Wolf-Fang is generally Durin’s strongest four-star DPS Sword and can compete with five-star options at R5. Its passive cannot stack while Durin is off-field, so it is better suited to on-field play.
Moonweaver’s Dawn
R1 Moonweaver’s Dawn is Durin’s best freely accessible Sword from the quest Echoes of an Unfinished Past. Its refinements are available only through Weapon Event Banners. Durin does not benefit from the second half of its passive because his Burst costs 70 Energy.
Other useful choices
- Lion’s Roar: A viable R5 option, especially in Overloaded and Burning teams where its passive has high uptime.
- Finale of the Deep: A competitive craftable Sword in teams with healers; it can outperform R1 Wolf-Fang when the team supplies many DMG buffs.
Teams for Durin
Overload
Use support-form Durin with an Electro damage dealer and reliable Electro application. Chevreuse is a strong partner because she provides ATK buffs and Pyro/Electro RES reduction. Fischl supplies consistent off-field Electro and also contributes Hexerei synergy.
This archetype makes EM more attractive for Durin when his Pyro application frequently triggers Overloaded. If the Electro character owns most reactions, prioritize Durin’s normal Burst damage and team-support requirements instead.
Best Value
- Soft Material: Game figures pillow are made of high-quality soft polyester fabric, filled with PP cotton inside, soft, comfortable to touch, can be helped or piloted
- Size: The figure is about 12cm/4.72in high, the outside is washable, do not rub hard when washing. Do not use determinations that contain bleach
- Beautiful Design:The design is inspired by the character in the game. Exquisite pattern embroidery, cute and interesting attention, deeply loved by game fans. Suitable for fan collection
- Surprise present: Kamisato Ayaka Figures are suitable in size and cute in appeal, can be used as holiday present for friends on Birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas, Halloween, New Years with family
Vaporize and Melt
Use damage-oriented Durin when the goal is to maximize his own reaction damage. The Hydro or Cryo teammates must apply their element consistently enough to maintain the intended reaction pattern; otherwise, the damage-oriented form loses much of its value.
Burgeon
Burgeon Durin requires reliable Hydro and Dendro application. Build more EM when Durin is consistently triggering the reaction, and consider Gilded Dreams or Xiphos’ Moonlight. If another character owns the Burgeon reactions, use a more conventional Burst-damage build.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteOn-field Durin
On-field teams that rely on Pyro-infused Normal or Charged Attacks need a source of Pyro infusion. The documented example is C6 Bennett. Marechaussee Hunter can be effective in Furina teams, but its CRIT Rate bonus must be included when balancing the build.
Quickswap and mixed-damage teams
Durin also fits quickswap teams that value frequent Bursts and off-field Pyro. If another character already carries Noblesse or the relevant support set, equip Durin with a DPS-oriented option such as Emblem instead of duplicating utility.
Rotation and timing considerations
Durin’s Skill has an 18-second cooldown. Extending rotations beyond that window reduces his relative damage because more Burst hits occur outside the first 10 hits enhanced by his A4 passive.
His Burst animation lasts nearly two seconds and does not perform periodic hits during the animation. In an 18-second rotation, the estimated output is roughly 16 Light-form hits and 12–13 Dark-form hits.

In some teams, cast Durin’s Skill, swap through teammates to apply buffs, then cast his Burst. This lets his A4 snapshot the improved buffs. The correct order depends on the team’s buff durations and reaction ownership, so avoid delaying the Burst if doing so causes the rotation to miss buffs or the next Skill cooldown.
Constellations versus weapons
C2 is a strong stopping point for vertical investment before C6, while C6 is Durin’s strongest Constellation. The claim that C1 is always better than R1 is not universal: the answer changes with team composition, existing weapons, and whether you value Durin’s personal damage or total team damage.
If you already have a 5-star CRIT Sword, R1 Athame Artis is only a small upgrade according to KQM. In that situation, saving for a Constellation—particularly the substantial team improvement at C2—can be more attractive.
Quick Recap
Common Durin build mistakes
- Assuming he never needs ER: Energy refunds depend on the rotation. Check whether he can Burst every cycle.
- Using the damage form in every team: Support form is generally better when the team needs Pyro application and utility.
- Ignoring A4’s ATK threshold: Durin benefits from reaching 2,500 ATK before pursuing marginal offensive upgrades.
- Forcing Scroll in a poor reaction setup: Two additional Pyro characters can make its reaction condition unreliable.
- Overvaluing Athame Artis: It is best-in-slot, but an existing 5-star CRIT Sword may be close.
- Building EM without reaction ownership: EM is valuable only when Durin consistently triggers reactions such as Burgeon or Overloaded.
- Making rotations too long: Staying within Durin’s 18-second cooldown keeps more of his Burst inside the strongest part of his A4 window.
