Recommended Free Tools
For most WordPress sites, start with The Events Calendar. Its free core gives you a dependable public calendar, while its extension ecosystem covers recurring events, imports, RSVPs, tickets, filtering, and community submissions. Choose Amelia when events must share a booking system with appointments or services, Events Manager when capacity, timeslots, payments, approvals, waitlists, and QR check-in are central, and WP Event Manager when your site is primarily an event directory with front-end submissions.
These plugins are not interchangeable copies. They represent four different operating models: calendar publishing, service-and-event scheduling, operations-heavy registration, and event listing management. The right choice depends on how people discover, book, pay for, and attend your events.

What an events plugin needs to do
An events plugin can be little more than a calendar display, or it can become the system that controls registration, payment, capacity, reminders, ticket delivery, check-in, and organizer submissions. Decide which of those jobs your site actually has before comparing feature lists.

- Content intake: front-end submissions from organizers, moderation, recurring-series editing, and directory search.
- Data movement: imports from calendars or event services, exports for staff, and connections to payment or commerce systems.
A calendar-first plugin can be excellent at publishing but weak at ticket operations. A booking system can handle capacity well while offering less flexible public discovery. Treat that distinction as a design decision, not a defect.

The Events Calendar: best for a mature calendar ecosystem
Why it is the safest default
The Events Calendar is the strongest starting point when your primary job is publishing a polished, searchable public calendar. The free core is designed as the foundation for additional products, so you can begin with event pages and views and add operational features only when the site needs them.
Events Calendar Pro adds recurring events, additional calendar views, shortcodes, widgets, advanced custom event fields, and event-series tools. That combination suits organizations with a regular programme rather than a handful of isolated dates. A series can be managed as related occurrences instead of manually duplicating every event.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Imports and ticketing
Event Aggregator can import events from Meetup, Google Calendar, iCalendar, Eventbrite, CSV, and ICS. Imports are useful when another calendar remains the editorial source, but establish which system owns edits before turning on synchronization; otherwise staff can change an event in one place and unknowingly overwrite it in another.
Event Tickets adds RSVPs and ticketing. Event Tickets Plus connects ticket sales with WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads, which is relevant when your site already has a commerce system for orders, taxes, or customer accounts.
When to avoid it
Do not choose it solely because it has the largest-sounding feature list. If the central problem is appointment-style scheduling with shared staff and services, Amelia is a more natural model. If you need approval queues, intensive attendee operations, QR scanning, and waitlists as first-class workflow steps, evaluate Events Manager before committing to several extensions.

Amelia: best when events and services share one booking system
The scheduling model
Amelia is aimed at businesses and organizations that sell or reserve more than event admission. Its published use cases include corporate meetings, workshops, conferences, social gatherings, and online or offline events, alongside appointments and other services.
That matters when the same people, rooms, equipment, or working hours are involved in both activities. A training studio may run classes and one-off workshops; a consultancy may offer appointments and paid seminars; a venue may need event bookings alongside service reservations. Keeping those workflows in one scheduling system can be simpler than forcing a calendar plugin and a separate appointment tool to share data.
Tickets, capacity, and waiting lists
Amelia’s product page describes event tickets, custom pricing by ticket type, capacity controls, waiting lists, and multi-service booking. Ticket-type pricing lets an organizer distinguish, for example, standard and reduced admission without creating unrelated events. Capacity and waiting-list rules are more important than visual calendar variety when a session can sell out.
Questions to settle before purchase
- Which plan includes events, ticket types, capacity, and waiting lists?
- Can the booking form collect every attendee detail you need, or only the purchaser’s information?
- How are refunds, cancellations, transfers, and no-shows handled?
- Do online events need a separate meeting integration or simply a join URL in the confirmation?
- Will your staff manage event and appointment calendars in the same administration screens?
The current product page displays a 4.6/5 rating as accessed on October 15, 2026. Ratings and plan contents are volatile; treat that figure as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent quality guarantee.

Operational coverage
Events Manager is the operations-heavy choice in this group. Its WordPress.org description covers one-off dates, recurring series, timeslots, availability, registration forms, attendee approvals, CSV exports, confirmation emails, payment gateways in Pro, multiple ticket types, PDF tickets, QR check-in, capacity limits, sold-out handling, waitlists, statistics, and multisite event support.

That breadth is useful for conferences, festivals, tours, classes, museums, and any programme where “publish an event” is only the first step. Timeslots support appointment-like schedules; approvals let staff review registrations; exports provide a working file for on-site teams; QR scanning can turn attendance into a check-in process instead of a manual name search.
Where it earns its complexity
Use Events Manager when the rules around attendance are the project. You may need different ticket types, a fixed capacity per occurrence, a waitlist after sell-out, confirmation messages, and a record of who actually arrived. Those requirements are difficult to bolt onto a simple calendar without creating custom forms and manual spreadsheets.
What to verify
- Identify which payment gateways and ticket functions are included in the free plugin and which require Pro or Pro Plus.
- Test the complete path: registration, payment, confirmation, ticket delivery, cancellation, waitlist promotion, and check-in.
- For a multisite network, confirm whether each site shares event data or maintains an independent catalogue.
- Check export fields before launch so staff receive the attendee data they need without exposing unnecessary personal information.
WP Event Manager: best for directories and front-end submissions
A listing-first approach
WP Event Manager is designed for event listings managed from both the front end and back end. That makes it a practical fit for community calendars, association directories, local listings, and sites where organizers submit their own events rather than handing every entry to one administrator.

Its documented ecosystem includes a calendar add-on plus registration and ticketing extensions, with separate documentation and support paths for free and paid users.
Moderation and organizer intake
Front-end submission is valuable only when moderation is clear. Decide whether submissions publish immediately, wait for approval, or return to the organizer for correction. Define required fields for date, time zone, venue, contact method, accessibility information, cancellation policy, and ticket URL before inviting outside organizers.
Limits of the directory model
If you need deep seat selection, appointment logic, extensive payment rules, or a large integrated check-in operation, compare WP Event Manager with Events Manager or The Events Calendar combined with ticketing extensions. A directory can display a ticket link without being the system that processes the transaction, controls capacity, or records attendance.

Specialized alternatives in the WordPress events category
WordPress.org’s events category also lists Simple Calendar, Event Organiser, Sugar Calendar, and other specialized plugins. The category breadth is a reminder that “best” depends on the workflow. Simple Calendar is the relevant example when the requirement is primarily displaying an existing Google Calendar, not collecting registrations or selling tickets.
Evaluate a specialized plugin when it solves one narrow job cleanly. Avoid adding a second calendar system simply to obtain a view you already have; duplicate event stores create conflicting dates, duplicate notifications, and unclear ownership of edits.
Compare the capabilities that affect your decision
| Requirement | Most natural starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Public calendar with room to add features | The Events Calendar | Free calendar core and a broad extension ecosystem |
| Events plus appointments or bookable services | Amelia | One scheduling model for services and events |
| Timeslots, approvals, payments, QR check-in, and waitlists | Events Manager | Operations and attendee management are central features |
| Community or organizer-submitted listings | WP Event Manager | Front-end and back-end event management |
| Display an existing Google Calendar | Simple Calendar or another focused calendar display plugin | The requirement is viewing, not registration or ticket sales |
| Paid tickets through an existing commerce stack | The Events Calendar with Event Tickets Plus, or Events Manager | Both documented ecosystems address payment and ticket workflows, with different administration models |
How to choose in a practical sequence
- Write the attendee journey. List discovery, registration, payment, confirmation, reminders, cancellation, arrival, and post-event reporting. Mark every step that must be automated.
- Choose the system of record. Decide whether WordPress, Google Calendar, an external ticket service, or a booking platform owns dates and attendee data.
- Count event types. Separate one-off events, recurring series, drop-in timeslots, classes, appointments, and online sessions. A plugin that handles one well may not model all of them equally.
- Define capacity rules. Record total capacity, per-ticket limits, waitlist behavior, overbooking policy, and whether each recurring occurrence has independent availability.
- Define organizer permissions. Decide who can create, edit, approve, export, refund, and check in attendees. This determines whether front-end submissions or multisite support are necessary.
- Map payment requirements. List currencies, gateways, taxes, refunds, coupons, invoices, and whether an existing commerce plugin must remain the payment authority.
- Price the complete workflow. Add every required premium extension, payment gateway fee, email service, and renewal. A free core is not the same as a free ticketing system.
- Test with realistic data. Use a recurring series, a sold-out event, a cancelled booking, a waitlisted attendee, and a front-end submission before selecting a production plugin.
How to sell tickets or take registrations on WordPress
First decide whether WordPress should process payment or merely publish a button to an external ticketing service. If WordPress processes it, test the entire transaction rather than only the checkout screen.
- Create an event with the correct time zone, venue or online details, cancellation terms, and capacity.
- Create ticket or registration types with distinct prices and limits where required.
- Connect the supported payment method and configure confirmation email addresses, sender authentication, and refund handling.
- Place the registration control on the event page and test it as a logged-out visitor on a phone.
- Complete a low-value or sandbox transaction, then verify the order, attendee record, confirmation, ticket file, and capacity decrement.
- Test a second purchase until the event is sold out. Confirm that the form blocks additional registrations or moves them to the waitlist.
- Export attendee data and verify that staff can scan or search attendees without seeing data they do not need.
The Events Calendar’s documented route is Event Tickets, with Event Tickets Plus integrating with WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads. Events Manager documents payment gateways in Pro and ticket features such as PDF tickets and QR scanning. Amelia documents event tickets, custom ticket pricing, capacity, and waiting lists. WP Event Manager documents registration and ticketing through add-ons. Verify the exact gateway and plan combination before accepting live payments.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Recurring events, timeslots, and capacity: common traps
Recurring series
Do not assume that a recurring event is one booking object. Confirm whether each occurrence can have its own capacity, price, instructor, venue, cancellation status, and attendee list. The Events Calendar Pro listing specifically documents recurring events and event-series tools; Events Manager documents recurring events and timeslots. Those are different implementation models, so test editing one date without changing the entire series.
Timeslots
For classes, tours, consultations, or museum entry, a day view is not enough. You need a defined slot length, buffer time, maximum attendance, and behavior when a slot fills. Events Manager explicitly covers timeslots and availability; Amelia’s service-and-event model may be more suitable when staff or resources are shared with appointments.
Best Value
- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Capacity and waitlists
Set capacity at the level people actually consume. A ticket for a family may represent several seats; a workshop registration may reserve one place but include multiple attendees. Decide whether the waitlist is ordered, whether promotions expire, and whether a cancelled place is released immediately. Amelia, Events Manager, and the documented ticketing ecosystems of The Events Calendar address capacity or waiting-list workflows, but the exact rules depend on the extension and plan.
Front-end submissions and community calendars
Front-end submissions reduce administrator workload but increase moderation and abuse risk. Require a verified email, use a pending-review status, and provide a clear edit or withdrawal process for organizers. Store an organizer contact separately from the public description so staff can resolve changes without publishing personal details.
WP Event Manager is the most directly aligned with this model. The Events Calendar ecosystem can also support community-oriented workflows through extensions. Choose based on whether submissions are the core product or an occasional feature added to an administrator-owned calendar.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Accessibility, performance, privacy, and maintenance
- Accessibility: check keyboard navigation, visible focus, form labels, error messages, color contrast, and the readability of calendar controls on small screens. Test the public calendar and checkout, not only the WordPress editor.
- Performance: large recurring catalogues, map embeds, filtering, imports, and ticket queries can add database and front-end work. Limit unnecessary views, cache public pages where safe, and test month and list views with your real event count.
- Privacy: collect only the attendee fields required for operations. Explain retention, export, deletion, and email use. Restrict CSV exports and check-in screens to staff roles that need them.
- Email reliability: confirmation and reminder messages are operational records. Configure authenticated sending, test failed and duplicate notifications, and keep a manual attendee lookup for event day.
- Updates: back up before updating the core plugin or extensions. Test recurring events, checkout, imports, and custom templates in staging because extension combinations can change output or database behavior.
- Multisite: if several sites share a network, document whether events are local to each site or syndicated. Events Manager’s listing specifically mentions multisite support, but network architecture still needs an implementation test.
Budgeting for the real cost
The available product information does not establish a single current price for these plugins or their extensions. Do not compare only the free download or the lowest advertised plan. Build a cost sheet containing the premium calendar, ticket, registration, payment, import, check-in, and support components required by your workflow, plus renewals and gateway charges.
The Events Calendar’s advanced functions are distributed across Pro, Event Aggregator, and Event Tickets products. Amelia’s event and service features depend on the selected plan. Events Manager places some payment and operational functions in Pro or Pro Plus. WP Event Manager documents calendar, registration, and ticketing add-ons. Recheck plan contents and renewal terms on the vendors’ current pages before purchase.
Launch checklist
- Every event has a time zone, start and end time, venue or join information, organizer contact, and cancellation policy.
- Recurring occurrences were edited individually during testing.
- Capacity decreases after a successful registration and returns after a valid cancellation.
- Sold-out events show the intended message or waitlist form.
- Payment, confirmation, ticket delivery, refund, and failed-payment paths were tested.
- Front-end submissions enter the correct moderation status.
- Staff can export or check in attendees without excessive personal data.
- Calendar, forms, tickets, and emails work on current mobile browsers and with keyboard navigation.
- Backups, staging, update ownership, and event-day support responsibilities are documented.
Bottom line: match the plugin to the operating model
Pick The Events Calendar for the safest general-purpose calendar foundation and a broad extension path. Pick Amelia when events belong beside appointments and services. Pick Events Manager when registration operations, timeslots, payment, waitlists, approvals, and check-in determine success. Pick WP Event Manager when your WordPress site is primarily a directory built around front-end event submissions. A focused calendar display plugin is enough when you only need to show an existing calendar and do not need WordPress to run registration or ticket sales.
