For a living-world overhaul, GenesisCore lists a development baseline of V3.2.0 b10. For balance and quality-of-life changes to an Undead Legacy run, Undead Legacy Redefined targets game 2.6 b14 and Undead Legacy 2.7. Check your version before choosing, then check the mod page for current requirements.
Which mod fits your play style and game version?
| Best for | Mod | Supported build stated on the mod page | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| A world that changes and responds over time | GenesisCore | 7 Days to Die V3.2.0 b10 development/testing baseline | Living-world systems, including persistent, migrating hordes. Check for conflicts with other mods that change zombie AI, decisions, or pathing. |
| Less hardcore balance and QoL in an Undead Legacy playthrough | Undead Legacy Redefined | Game 2.6 b14 with Undead Legacy 2.7 | A modular add-on, not a standalone overhaul. Install Core and choose optional modules; back up saves and synchronize multiplayer modules. |
| Adding a weapon system to Undead Legacy | Undead Legacy – EFTX Compatibility | Game V2.6 b14 with Undead Legacy 2.7.40; page says it does not support game V3 | A specialized, dependency-heavy setup requiring Easy Anti-Cheat disabled and a new save. Follow the full install sequence; all co-op players need matching versions. |
These options serve different purposes and version stacks, so do not install them together on the assumption that they are interchangeable. The pages document feature descriptions, version targets, and requirements—not independent quality testing—so these are recommendations by fit, not a universal ranking.
Best overhaul mod for a changing world: GenesisCore
GenesisCore is the clearest fit if you want systemic world simulation rather than a narrow balance tweak. Its page describes persistent, migrating hordes and other living-world systems. The listed V3.2.0 b10 baseline is a development/testing compatibility target, not a promise that the mod works with every V3 release or other build. Check the page against your exact game version before installing: GenesisCore on Nexus Mods.
Compatibility is especially important when another mod alters zombie behavior. GenesisCore warns about overlap with mods that change zombie AI, decision-making, or pathing. If another mod touches those systems, do not assume the combination will work; consult both authors’ compatibility notes and test only with a backed-up save.

Best for tuning Undead Legacy: Redefined and EFTX
Undead Legacy Redefined: modular balance and QoL
Redefined is designed as a modular balance suite for Undead Legacy 2.7, with the page specifying game 2.6 b14. It aims for less hardcore balance and quality-of-life changes. This is an add-on for an Undead Legacy playthrough, not an alternative standalone overhaul. The author recommends installing Core, then selecting the optional modules that suit your run. Modules can conflict with changes to quests, loot, progression, crafting, or workstations, so review the descriptions before combining them with other gameplay mods. The page also recommends backing up saves before updates and synchronizing selected client and server modules in multiplayer: Undead Legacy Redefined on Nexus Mods.
EFTX Compatibility: a specialist weapon integration
The EFTX compatibility package is for players already using Undead Legacy 2.7.40 on game V2.6 b14 who are prepared to follow several installation steps. Its page says the release does not support game V3. It is a poor first mod choice if you want a simple download-and-play setup.

Install safely: check the build, files, and save requirements
- Match the game build. Check the mod’s supported version on its current page, then confirm your installed game build. A mod described for V2.6 b14 or V3.2.0 b10 should not be treated as compatible with a different build without an explicit author statement.
- Read the full requirements and conflicts. Note required mods, libraries, runtimes, optional modules, installation order, and systems that may overlap. For EFTX, use the full dependency and folder sequence on its compatibility page.
- Back up saves before installing or updating. Redefined recommends a backup before updates. EFTX calls for a new save and says not to remove its patch from a save that uses it.
- Install in the appropriate Mods directory. The community installation guide lists
%APPDATA%7DaysToDieModsfor Windows,~/.local/share/7DaysToDie/Modsfor Linux, and~/Library/Application Support/7DaysToDie/Modsfor macOS. It also describes the 7D2D Mod Launcher as an option for major overhauls. Treat the guide as orientation and prioritize each mod author’s current instructions: 7D2D Wiki installation guide. - Check anti-cheat instructions. The guide says Easy Anti-Cheat blocks unsigned modifications for most server-side and gameplay-affecting mods. Follow the specific mod’s instructions; EFTX expressly requires EAC disabled.
- Coordinate multiplayer versions. EFTX says every co-op player must use identical versions. Redefined advises synchronizing the selected client and server modules. Agree on the same setup before joining or hosting.
How to choose without risking a broken save
- Choose GenesisCore only if its listed V3.2.0 b10 development baseline matches your build and you want evolving-world systems.
- Choose Redefined only for a compatible Undead Legacy 2.7 setup on the stated 2.6 b14 game branch, and select modules with attention to system conflicts.
- Choose EFTX only if you want its weapon integration, meet its exact Undead Legacy and game requirements, and are comfortable with dependencies, a new save, and EAC changes.
- When a mod’s version or compatibility is unclear, treat it as unconfirmed rather than assuming it works. Mod descriptions and community guides can change; verify the current instructions before changing an established save.
