Yes—Nintendo Switch 2 plays compatible physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, and several popular titles have Switch 2 Editions with extra features. For a big adventure, start with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom; for platforming, try Super Mario Bros. Wonder or Kirby and the Forgotten Land; for a cozy long-term game, choose Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can play the original versions when compatible, so an upgrade is optional.

When is the upgrade worth buying?
Keep playing the original version if it meets your needs and you do not want the Edition’s additions. Consider paying for an upgrade when its particular content or features matter to you—for example, a new story in Kirby, ZELDA NOTES support in either Zelda Edition, or Animal Crossing’s added controls and online features. Check the current price and membership terms in your region before purchase; they can vary and are not established here.
For Switch 2 online features, Nintendo says an internet connection, Nintendo Account, and Nintendo Switch Online membership are required, including for GameChat. Country availability and other terms apply. Consult Nintendo’s online-service information for current requirements.
