Prices below are US-store observations from August 18, 2026, and can change with sales, color, layout and stock.

Catalog features and prices come from Razer’s US gaming-keyboard catalog. The TKL Huntsman price and dimensions are reported by TechRadar.

Best Razer keyboards by use case

Best for competitive gaming: Huntsman V3 Pro Tenkeyless 8KHz

The TKL 8KHz model is the strongest starting point for serious competitive players. Its Gen-2 analog optical switches provide adjustable actuation, while Rapid Trigger and Snap Tap are available on applicable Huntsman models. Razer lists True 8000 Hz HyperPolling, which reports keyboard state at shorter intervals than conventional polling.

Choose it if you play high-refresh competitive shooters, understand actuation settings and want a compact board with arrow and navigation keys. Avoid it if you need wireless operation, a number pad, hot-swappable switches or a conventional typing feel. The switches are fixed; removable keycaps do not make the board switch-swappable. TechRadar lists the board at 362 × 140 × 38 mm and $169.99 for the Huntsman V3 TKL 8KHz (a distinct non-Pro model), while the Pro TKL 8KHz was observed at $219.99 in the US catalog.

Razer BlackWidow V4 X Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Yellow Switches, Black
  • YELLOW MECHANICAL LINEAR SWITCHES: With zero distance between actuation and reset points at 1.2mm and only 45g of force required — enjoy instant, rapid-fire inputs that are just as quiet thanks to built-in sound dampeners
  • 6 DEDICATED MACRO KEYS: Expand the arsenal of commands with a set of easy-access macro keys that can be programmed to peferred playstyle
  • MULTI-FUNCTION ROLLER and SECONDARY MEDIA KEYS: Pause, play, skip, and tweak everything from brightness to volume for ultimate convenience
  • CHROMA RGB PER-KEY LIGHTING: With a switch construction that promotes brighter, even lighting, customize each key from over 16.8 million colors and effects—including dynamic lighting for hundreds of Chroma-integrated games
  • DOUBLESHOT ABS KEYCAPS: Using a doubleshot molding process to ensure the labeling never wears off while having extra-thick walls to withstand intense gaming

Verdict: The best Razer starting point for configured competitive play, not a universal gaming recommendation.

Best mechanical all-rounder: BlackWidow V4 75%

The BlackWidow V4 75% is the better fit for general gaming, typing and enthusiasts who want to change switches later. Razer describes its compact 75% layout and hot-swappable design on the official product page. You retain arrow keys and a navigation cluster while freeing desk space compared with full-size boards.

It suits buyers who care about key feel, sound and customization more than analog input. The observed US price was $199.99 for one current edition, with a barebones version at $139.99. Verify socket format, stabilizer clearance, bottom-row dimensions and replacement-switch support before buying parts; hot-swappable does not mean every third-party switch fits.

Verdict: The most balanced Razer choice when a traditional mechanical board matters more than esports-specific controls.

Best premium wireless hybrid: BlackWidow V4 Pro 75%

This model combines a 75% mechanical platform with wireless connectivity, an OLED display, a Command Dial and hot-swappable switches. It is aimed at a buyer who wants one board for games and desk work and accepts a premium for controls and presentation.

Choose it over the standard V4 75% when wireless operation, display feedback and extra controls are central. Choose the standard model when those features do not justify the additional cost. The supplied US snapshot did not establish a current price for this exact edition, so check the live listing.

Verdict: Feature-rich and flexible, but its value depends on using the added controls.

Best low-profile wireless: BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile HyperSpeed

The full-size Low-Profile HyperSpeed uses shorter mechanical switches and keycaps, HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, a roller and 11 control buttons. Razer lists those features on its product page. It is a good transition for laptop users who still want mechanical switches, wireless freedom and a number pad.

Razer Ornata V3 Gaming Keyboard, Low-Profile Keys, Black
  • LOW-PROFILE KEYS — With slimmer keycaps and shorter switches, enjoy natural hand positioning that allows for long hours of use with little strain
  • MECHA-MEMBRANE SWITCHES — Fusing the snappy, clicky feedback of a mechanical switch with the familiar feel of a conventional keyboard, each keystroke is as satisfying as it is precise
  • UV-COATED KEYCAPS — More durable than regular keycaps, the UV coating ensures more fade-resistant legends and greater protection against wear and tear from frequent use
  • BACKLIT DEDICATED MEDIA KEYS — Configure them to pause, play, skip and adjust everything from brightness to volume for ultimate convenience
  • MAGNETIC SOFT TOUCH WRIST REST — Designed to seamlessly snap to the keyboard, the soft-touch wrist rest provides ample comfort and support for the wrists that is vital during long periods of use

Low-profile is a geometry choice, not a guarantee of silence or superior speed. The shorter travel and different keycap shape can feel abrupt to users accustomed to standard-height boards.

Verdict: The best Razer option for a flatter wireless typing position.

Best wireless TKL middle ground: BlackWidow V4 TKL HyperSpeed

At an observed $149.99, the TKL HyperSpeed offers wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, a compact layout and a hot-swappable design without the Pro model’s extensive controls. It is a practical choice for smaller desks and mixed gaming if you do not need a number pad or premium dial.

Verdict: A sensible wireless TKL compromise between price, desk space and customization.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best compact portable keyboard: Joro

Joro is hyper-thin, light and compact, with ultra-low-profile switches and Chroma RGB. It is designed around travel, laptops and tablets rather than maximum desktop gaming performance. At the observed $139.99, its portability is the reason to buy it.

Check the exact wireless modes, battery behavior and device-switching specifications for the SKU you select. Its compact layout also means fewer dedicated controls.

Verdict: Choose Joro for a bag-friendly keyboard, not as a substitute for a full desktop competitive board.

Best budget-oriented Razer option: Ornata V3 or V3 Tenkeyless

Ornata uses Razer’s mecha-membrane design: a membrane switch with a mechanical-style feel. RTINGS characterizes it as membrane-based, so it should not be described as a true mechanical keyboard. Listed Ornata V3 TKL licensed editions were observed at $119.99.

Razer Huntsman Mini 60% Gaming Keyboard, Linear Optical Switches, Black
  • FASTER THAN TRADITIONAL MECHANICAL SWITCHES — Razer Linear Optical switch technology uses optical beam-based actuation, registering key presses at the speed of light (15-30% shorter actuation distance than other linear switches at 1.0 mm)
  • ULTIMATE PERSONALIZATION & GAMING IMMERSION WITH RAZER CHROMA RGB LIGHTING — Fully syncs with popular games, Razer hardware, Philips Hue, and gear from 30+ partners; supports 16.8 million colors on individually backlit keys from the world’s largest lighting ecosystem for gaming devices
  • QUALITY, ALUMINUM CONSTRUCTION — Covered with a matte, aluminum top frame for increased structural integrity
  • OIL-RESISTANT DOUBLESHOT PBT KEYCAPS — Made of textured, high-grade PBT for a more durable and textured finish less prone to long-term grime buildup
  • FULLY PROGRAMMABLE MACROS — Razer Hypershift allows for all keys and keypress combinations to be remapped to execute complex commands

It can make sense when low-profile keys, softer membrane action and Razer lighting matter more than switch replacement or enthusiast customization. Buyers requiring mechanical switches should skip it.

Verdict: An entry route into Razer’s ecosystem, but not a mechanical-keyboard value champion by definition.

Best for typing and office work: Pro Type Ergo

The Pro Type Ergo has a split ergonomic layout, adjustable tilt, a Command Dial and five dedicated macro keys, according to Razer’s catalog. It prioritizes posture and productivity controls over a compact gaming footprint.

For a conventional desk, the BlackWidow V4 75% offers a more familiar arrangement. For laptop-like keys, choose the Low-Profile model. Pro Type Ergo is the specialist choice for users who benefit from its split layout.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verdict: The Razer keyboard to consider when ergonomic geometry is the main requirement.

Luxury showcase: Huntsman Signature Edition

The Huntsman Signature Edition was observed at $499.99 and belongs outside practical value rankings. Windows Central’s coverage positions it as a luxury product. Buy it for exclusivity and materials, not because a higher price guarantees better everyday results.

Huntsman versus BlackWidow

Choose Huntsman when… Choose BlackWidow when…
You want adjustable actuation, analog optical input, Rapid Trigger or Snap Tap on a supported model. You want conventional mechanical key feel, hot-swapping, wireless options or media controls.
You mainly play competitive FPS games and accept wired or compact designs. You split time between games, typing and general desktop work.
You are willing to configure advanced features and check tournament rules. You prefer a simpler, familiar setup or need a number pad.

Huntsman is Razer’s performance-oriented optical and analog family. The current range includes V3, V3 Pro and V3 HE Magnetic variants. BlackWidow spans conventional mechanical boards, low-profile models, wireless versions, full-size, TKL and 75% layouts. The suffix matters: “BlackWidow V4” is not one specification.

DeathStalker and BlackWidow Low-Profile models are alternatives for a flatter position. Ornata is appropriate only when a mecha-membrane feel is specifically desired.

Razer switch technologies explained

Standard mechanical

A physical switch provides the key action. Linear switches move smoothly, tactile switches provide a bump, and clicky switches add an audible click. Sound and feel depend on the exact switch, keycap, case and desk.

Optical and analog optical

Optical switches use light-based actuation. Razer describes them as faster, lighter and more durable than standard mechanical switches; those are manufacturer claims rather than universal independent findings. Analog optical models can detect more than a simple on/off press and may support analog-style control or dual-step actuation where software and games support it.

Magnetic or Hall-effect

The Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic family is a newer adjustable magnetic-switch line. Do not treat it as identical to the analog optical Huntsman V3 Pro family: the sensing technology and model features differ.

Mecha-membrane

Ornata’s hybrid design uses membrane switches shaped to imitate some mechanical feel. It is neither a conventional mechanical nor an analog keyboard.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Low-profile mechanical

Low-profile switches shorten the key travel and reduce keyboard height. They can be comfortable for laptop users, but the feel is materially different from standard mechanical boards.

Does 8,000-Hz polling matter?

Razer lists True 8000 Hz HyperPolling on several Huntsman V3 Pro 8KHz models. Polling rate is the interval at which the keyboard reports state; it is not display refresh rate, adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger or analog input.

The practical benefit is most plausible for high-refresh competitive players already sensitive to input timing. Game-engine behavior, USB implementation, CPU overhead, display latency and player consistency can matter more. Older systems may incur additional USB or CPU work. Do not pay for 8KHz as the sole reason to upgrade.

Choose the right layout

Full-size

Choose full-size for frequent number-pad use, spreadsheets, dedicated navigation keys or macro-heavy work. It occupies the most desk space and can limit low-sensitivity mouse movement.

Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Esports Gaming Keyboard, Black
  • CHOSEN BY PRO’S FOR ADVANCED FPS MOVEMENT — With Rapid Trigger, Adjustable Actuation and Razer Snap Tap, the Huntsman V3 Pro offers lightning-fast, precise movements that provides gamers an unbeatable edge especially in FPS games
  • RAZER SNAP TAP — Prioritize the latest input between two selected keys without having to release the previous one, and enjoy more responsive inputs for near-instant directional changes in FPS games (latest firmware update required)
  • RAPID TRIGGER — A step up from traditional mechanical or optical keyboards to achieve the most responsive and precise inputs; reset keys at the slightest lift of a finger, and experience an advantage in speed that is especially useful for movement in competitive FPS games
  • ANALOG OPTICAL SWITCHES GEN-2 — Max out on precision and response with advanced switches for ultra fast repeated inputs, a 0.1–4.0 mm adjustable actuation range, and a 100 million keystroke lifespan
  • QUICK ONBOARD ADJUSTMENTS — Make precise, on-the-fly adjustments to actuation height or Rapid Trigger sensitivity with the visual aid of an onboard LED array while saving the settings to the keyboard with no software required

Tenkeyless

TKL removes the number pad while retaining arrows and navigation keys. It is a strong competitive and small-desk format. The Huntsman V3 TKL 8KHz measures 362 × 140 × 38 mm according to TechRadar.

75%

A 75% board keeps arrows and a navigation cluster in a compact arrangement. It is the most versatile enthusiast format for gaming and typing, but key spacing and cluster placement vary by model.

65% and 60%

These formats maximize mouse space and portability. They may omit dedicated arrows, function-row keys and navigation controls. Windows Central notes that compact Huntsman formats can lose functions needed outside competitive gaming.

Wired, wireless and software considerations

Wired is simplest for competition and avoids battery management. Wireless is cleaner and better for multi-device desks, but HyperSpeed Wireless and Bluetooth are different modes with different pairing, latency and compatibility behavior. The Low-Profile HyperSpeed models explicitly list both modes.

Before buying, verify the exact SKU’s dongle, cable, Bluetooth support, onboard profiles and device switching. Razer Synapse is central to remapping, lighting, profiles and advanced functions. Menu labels and cross-platform behavior can change, and settings may not work identically in Windows, macOS, consoles, BIOS screens or every game.

Wireless troubleshooting checklist

  • Connect the included dongle directly to the PC rather than hiding it behind a case, monitor or incompatible hub.
  • Move the dongle away from other 2.4-GHz devices and USB 3 interference sources.
  • Charge the keyboard and confirm the selected HyperSpeed or Bluetooth mode.
  • Update keyboard firmware and Synapse.
  • Test a wired connection before concluding that the hardware has failed.

Rapid Trigger, Snap Tap and tournament rules

Adjustable actuation and Rapid Trigger can change when a key activates and resets. Snap Tap is available only on applicable models. Very sensitive settings can cause accidental inputs, and some games, leagues or tournaments may restrict or disable these features. Check current rules and anti-cheat guidance before relying on them.

Buying checklist

  • Decide whether you need analog or magnetic input, or simply a comfortable mechanical switch.
  • Pick full-size, TKL, 75%, 65% or 60% around your number-pad, arrow-key and mouse-space needs.
  • Check whether switches are hot-swappable and confirm socket, switch, stabilizer and keycap compatibility.
  • Compare the sale price and exact color/layout SKU, not an older launch MSRP.
  • Confirm wireless modes, dongle inclusion, battery behavior and supported operating systems.
  • Check return policy, warranty and replacement-part availability.
  • Review game and tournament policies before using Snap Tap or similar input features.

Razer’s catalog changes by region, edition and stock. The current US lineup and prices should be checked at Razer’s keyboard catalog before purchase.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Buy the Huntsman V3 Pro TKL 8KHz for configured competitive gaming, the BlackWidow V4 75% for the best conventional mechanical balance, the BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile HyperSpeed for wireless low-profile typing, Joro for travel, Ornata for a mecha-membrane feel, and Pro Type Ergo for ergonomic work. Treat the $499.99 Huntsman Signature Edition as a luxury purchase rather than a default recommendation.
