There is no single objectively “best” game in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. As of October 8, 2026, these picks stand out for different kinds of play: co-op roguelite action, a gear-focused adventure, a horror-tinged shooter campaign, a time-loop metroidvania, a road trip, and a cyberpunk platformer. Two are October 8 arrivals, so check your local catalog before starting them.

Xbox notes that catalog titles, features, and availability can change and vary by region, plan, and platform. The October 2026 update also includes games dated for later in the month, including Battlefield 6, Deep Dish Dungeon, and Valor Mortis on October 13; Bluey’s Happy Snaps and Chained Beasts on October 15; and Beyond These Stars on October 16. Those are announced future dates, not picks to assume are playable today.

Xbox Wire provides game descriptions and catalog details, not comparative review scores or test results for these titles. “Best” here means a strong match for a particular mood or play style. Pick by genre, whether you want solo or group play, and which plan and device you use; the catalog is the final check for what you can play where you are.
