The Case of the Golden Idol joined Google Play Pass on 16 October 2026, but catalog availability is country- and account-specific. Open the live Google Play listing published by Playstack and look for the Play Pass logo at the top of the app details page. That badge is Google’s documented signal that the title is included for your account. If the badge is missing, work through the checks below rather than relying on an older publisher page or a search result.
What the missing Play Pass badge means
Google Play does not show one universal catalog to every subscriber. Google states that the availability of games, apps and offers through a Play Pass subscription may vary by country and may change as titles are added or removed. A game can therefore be visible in Google Play, and even available to some Play Pass members, without being included for your current Play country.

For this title, the current status is especially easy to misread. A status report dated 17 October 2026 said that the Android listing became available through Play Pass on 16 October and identified Playstack as the publisher. That is time-sensitive information, not a guarantee for every country or account. Your live listing is the authority for what you can install today.
Google’s own inclusion test is simple: when an app is part of Play Pass, the top of its details page displays a Play Pass logo. A normal search result, a “free” install button, or the game’s presence on Google Play alone does not prove Play Pass coverage.

First, open the correct Golden Idol listing
Several things can make the badge appear to be missing when the wrong page is open. Confirm the listing before changing account or device settings.
- Open the Google Play Store app on the Android device you use for Play Pass.
- Search for the complete title, The Case of the Golden Idol.
- Open the page whose publisher is shown as Playstack. Do not use a similarly named app, a search advertisement, a web result that redirects to another package, or an unofficial listing.
- On the app details page, inspect the area around the title, icon and install controls. The Play Pass logo is the inclusion indicator Google documents.
- If the badge is present, select the Play Pass install or acquisition option shown by Google Play. If the badge is absent, continue with the account and country checks instead of assuming the game has been removed everywhere.
The publisher name matters because a title match by wording is not enough. If Playstack is not displayed, you have not yet tested the listing relevant to this question.
Check the Play country attached to your account
Play Pass catalogs are regional. Google uses the Play country associated with the account and billing setup, not simply the country where the phone is currently connected to the internet. A person travelling abroad, using a recently changed payments profile, or signed into an account created in another country can see a different catalog from a local resident.
What to compare
- Account country: the country configured for the Google Play account.
- Current location: the country in which the device is being used now.
- Billing profile: the country and payment details associated with Google payments.
- Subscription account: the Google account that actually owns the Play Pass subscription.
These details do not need to be treated as interchangeable. A mismatch can change which catalog Google displays, even when the same device and subscription work elsewhere. Check the Play Store’s account and payments settings, then compare them with the country you expect to receive. Do not repeatedly switch countries just to test the title: country changes can have eligibility and payment consequences, and the catalog may not update instantly.

If the listing has a Play Pass badge for a friend or a second account in another country but not for yours, that is consistent with Google’s regional-catalog rule rather than proof of a broken installation.
Use the personal account that owns Play Pass
Play Pass access follows the subscribing Google account. Confirm the account avatar in Google Play before judging the listing. Phones and tablets often have several accounts, and the Store can open a product page under an account that does not hold the subscription.
- Tap the profile picture in Google Play.
- Identify the email address shown as the active account.
- Switch to the personal account that purchased or currently manages Play Pass.
- Reopen the Playstack listing and check for the badge again.
Google says work and school accounts cannot subscribe to Play Pass. If the active account is managed by an employer or school, it cannot be used as the subscription owner; switch to an eligible personal account. A managed account may still be present on the device, so verify the account explicitly rather than assuming the first profile shown is the right one.
Confirm the subscription and payment state
A missing badge can result from an account that is no longer entitled to Play Pass. In Google Play, open the profile menu and review the subscriptions area. The Play Pass entry should show an active status and the same account you used when opening the Golden Idol listing.

Check these conditions
- The subscription is active, not expired, paused, cancelled at the end of a billing period, or awaiting a failed renewal.
- The account has a valid payment method where Google requires one for the subscription.
- The billing country is consistent with the Play country used by the account.
- You are not viewing the listing under a different Google account that has no subscription.
Payment information is relevant even when you are not buying the game separately: Google may restrict subscription entitlement when a renewal or account-payment issue is unresolved. Correct the account or billing problem, then close and reopen Google Play before checking the listing again.
Meet Google’s Android and Play Store requirements
Google lists Android 4.4 or newer and Google Play Store version 16.6.25 or newer as Play Pass requirements. The Android version is the operating system version; the Play Store number is the Store app version, not the game version.

Update the Store before deeper troubleshooting
- Open Google Play and tap the profile picture.
- Choose Settings, then open About.
- Use the Play Store update option if one is offered.
- Install any pending Android system update supported by the device.
- Restart the device, open Google Play again, and revisit the exact Playstack listing.
If the device is below Google’s Android minimum, or the Store cannot be updated to the stated version, the absence of the badge may be a compatibility limitation rather than a country-catalog error. A newer device using the same account is a useful diagnostic: if the badge appears there, the account is likely eligible and the original device or Store installation needs attention.
Understand the stale publisher page
The official Golden Idol “Where to Buy” page still shows “No products available for this platform yet” under Google Play. That wording conflicts with the newer report of a live Android Play Pass listing. The most plausible explanation is that the publisher page has not been updated to reflect the newer distribution status.

For this specific question, treat the live Google Play page—not the publisher’s older platform note—as decisive. The test is the Playstack listing and its Play Pass logo under your account. The stale page does not prove that the game is unavailable, and the newer report does not prove that every regional catalog includes it.

A direct purchase is therefore a fallback only if the official listing is visible and Google presents a purchase option. It is not a workaround for a country where the listing itself is unavailable.

If you have the Playstack listing, the correct personal account, an active subscription, matching country and billing details, a supported device, and an up-to-date Store—but the Play Pass logo is still absent—treat the title as unavailable for that account at that moment. Google can change regional catalogs without changing the title’s name or publisher.

Refresh the local Store state
- Force-close Google Play.
- Reopen it under the subscription-owning account.
- Search for the full title again instead of opening an old shortcut or cached web result.
- Restart the device if the listing still shows stale information.
- Check again later if the title was only recently added; catalog metadata can take time to propagate across accounts and regions.
Avoid installing an unrelated APK or changing security settings to bypass the Store. Such steps do not establish Play Pass eligibility and can create a separate installation or account problem.
Contact Google Play support with useful evidence
When the badge remains missing after the checks above, contact Google Play support rather than the publisher first. The issue concerns subscription entitlement and regional catalog delivery, which Google controls.

- The publisher shown on the listing: Playstack.
- The Google account type (personal, not a work or school account) and confirmation that it owns the active subscription.
- The Play country and the country in which the device is currently being used.
- The Android version and Google Play Store version.
- Whether the listing is visible, whether the Play Pass logo is absent, and what install or purchase controls are shown.
- The date and time of the check, plus any exact error message.
This information lets support check the account’s regional entitlement and the current catalog record. If support confirms that the title is not included for your country, there is no device-side setting that can force the badge to appear; you will need to wait for a catalog change or use a separately offered purchase when the listing permits it.
Fast decision tree
- Wrong publisher or similarly named app: return to search and open the Playstack listing.
- Correct listing, badge visible: your account can use the Play Pass route; follow Google’s install control.
- Correct listing, badge absent, wrong account: switch to the personal account that owns Play Pass.
- Correct account, subscription inactive: resolve the subscription or payment status, then refresh Google Play.
- Account and subscription correct, country mismatch: review the Play country and billing profile; regional eligibility is the likely cause.
- Everything matches, device or Store is old: meet Google’s Android and Store requirements before testing again.
- Everything matches and the badge is still absent: regard the game as unavailable for that account at that time and send the complete details to Google Play support.
How the status can change
Google Play Pass is a changing catalog rather than a permanent license for every title in every market. Google currently describes the service as offering more than 1,000 games and apps, while also warning that individual availability varies by country and can change as titles are added or removed. The Golden Idol listing’s status should therefore be checked at the time you want to install it, not inferred from an old article, a cached search snippet, or the publisher’s unmaintained platform note.
