The Duskbloods is a FromSoftware multiplayer action game coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Its online format combines player-versus-player competition with fights against computer-controlled enemies, supporting up to eight players. Nintendo has not announced a specific release date.

What is The Duskbloods?

FromSoftware announced The Duskbloods on April 2, 2025. Players take the role of the Bloodsworn, supernatural beings whose special blood gives them abilities beyond human limits. The official premise places them in a struggle at the “Dusk of Humanity,” competing for “First Blood.” FromSoftware’s announcement introduces the game and its setting.

The world is not confined to one historical period or location. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki describes settings spanning different eras, including Gothic- or Victorian-style environments and a place inspired by the closing years of the early modern period. Miyazaki’s Nintendo interview also describes dramatic character actions, firearms and other ranged attacks, free-form combat, deep character customization, and fragmentary storytelling as design aims. These are descriptions of the intended design, not an assessment of the finished game.

How does the multiplayer work?

The Duskbloods is built around online PvPvE: players contend with one another while also facing challenging computer-controlled foes. Nintendo lists online play for up to eight players. Miyazaki summarized the structure in Nintendo’s April 4, 2025 interview: “At its core is an online multiplayer focused game, with both player vs player and player vs enemy gameplay.” The interview is translated from Japanese.

The official sources describe an online multiplayer focus; they do not confirm a single-player campaign. If you are deciding whether the game suits you, the key question is whether you want online competition and cooperative or adversarial encounters with AI enemies, rather than assuming a solo campaign is available.

Is The Duskbloods exclusive to Switch 2?

Nintendo’s current US listing identifies The Duskbloods as exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. That is the officially announced platform; no other platform is confirmed in the sources cited here. The listing supports TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes. It does not establish the final physical-versus-digital retail lineup.

Why is FromSoftware making a Switch 2 game?

Miyazaki says the project began in early discussions with Nintendo. A small team initially worked on a Nintendo Switch version; as the newer hardware came into view, the project shifted to Switch 2. He said the system gave the team more room to focus on online play while staying close to its original vision. That origin helps explain why online multiplayer is central to the announced design.
