In The First Descendant, send friend and party requests from Map > Social. Cross-play is supported between the currently listed PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Cross-save requires linking a platform account to a Nexon ID and choosing the game data you want to use as your Primary Account. Be careful: Nexon says linking a platform to a Nexon ID with no game data binds that platform’s data to the ID, and the action cannot be undone.

How to invite or add a friend

  1. Open Map > Social.
  2. Find the player using the player list, recent players, Friends, or Search Player. You can also open the interaction menu from a nearby player or their chat name.
  3. Select the player and choose Friend Request to add them, or Party Invitation to invite them to your party.
  4. To review incoming requests, go to Map > Social > Received Requests. Nexon’s guide also says holding F2 opens party-invitation details.

Requests can expire if they are not accepted in time. Nexon’s live Social guide lists a maximum of 50 friends; the guide does not state a publication year for that limit. See Nexon’s Social guide.

Which platforms support cross-play?

Nexon lists PC (Nexon and Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as supported platforms and says the game supports cross-play. PS4 and Xbox One support ended on June 19, 2025, so they are not in Nexon’s current supported-platform list. Check Nexon’s platform FAQ.

Cross-play means playing with people on supported platforms; it is separate from cross-save, which is about accessing linked game data on more than one platform.

How to set up cross-save

  1. In the game, open Game Menu > Options > Account > Link Account and link the platform account to your Nexon ID. Nexon’s guide labels the account-linking process Link Accounts. Read Nexon’s Link Accounts guide.
  2. Sign in to the official site with the linked Nexon ID and open Primary Account Setup.
  3. Select the linked platform’s game data you want to use as your Primary Account.
  4. After changing the Primary Account, re-enter the game so the selected data is used.

Understand the save-data risk before linking

Nexon says a Nexon ID stores one set of game data. If the ID has no game data when you link a platform, the current platform’s data is bound to that Nexon ID; Nexon explicitly warns that this cannot be undone. If the Nexon ID already has game data, linking another platform can instead use the Nexon-stored data.

If you have progress on multiple platforms, first confirm which data is associated with the Nexon ID, then choose the intended Primary Account. Nexon’s Primary Account service lets players select among linked platform data for use across linked platforms. In its October 24, 2024 notice, the The First Descendant team said players with game data in a Nexon ID could set data from other platforms as their Primary Account after linking, and use the chosen data on any platform linked to that ID. Read the Primary Account notice. For the setup steps, see Nexon’s Primary Account Setup guide.

If cross-play or invitations do not work

Check Xbox multiplayer and cross-network permissions

On Xbox, Nexon’s support instructions direct players to Xbox Profile settings to allow multiplayer and cross-network play. They also identify a separate permission for communication with people outside the Xbox network. These settings can affect multiplayer, cross-network access, and communications. Follow the Xbox-specific instructions in Nexon’s Xbox support FAQ; this is not a universal setting path for PC or PlayStation.

Check the Social menu and request status

Use Map > Social to find the player and send the appropriate request. Check Received Requests for incoming requests, and remember that requests may expire if left unanswered. The official guidance cited here does not establish a current in-game cross-play toggle or equivalent current PlayStation privacy-setting steps, so it does not provide a verified setting path for those cases.
