But it has already tied games to reality franchises, brought phone-controlled party games to some TVs, and described interactive family play as a strategic opportunity. Those moves make reality TV a useful lens for where Netflix games could go—not a confirmed product roadmap.
What are Netflix Games?
Netflix Games is the company’s collection of games offered to members. Its formats range from mobile games to interactive stories tied to Netflix shows and, more recently, party games designed for TV. In May 2024, Netflix described its membership offering as including “nearly 100 games”; that was a dated company figure, not a current catalog count. Netflix’s announcement of its reality-franchise games provides a snapshot of one part of that catalog.

Does Netflix have games based on its reality shows?
Yes. In May 2024, Netflix announced four interactive fiction games connected to unscripted series. Each was planned to launch alongside a new season of its respective show:
- Netflix Stories: Perfect Match
- Too Hot to Handle 3
- The Ultimatum: Choices
- Netflix Stories: Selling Sunset
These are choice-led stories set in the worlds of the shows, rather than live competitions that turn a TV episode into a game. The distinction matters: Netflix has demonstrated franchise-based interactive fiction, not a format where viewers vote contestants through an unfolding reality episode.

Can you play Netflix games on your TV?
Netflix announced a selection of party games for TV in October 2025, including LEGO Party!, Pictionary: Game Night, Boggle Party, Tetris Time Warp, and Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends. The company said they were available on select TVs in certain countries, with further rollout planned. Availability therefore depends on location and supported devices; the announcement does not establish that every title is available to every Netflix member. Netflix’s TV party-games announcement has the original availability caveat.
Can your phone be a controller?
For the announced TV party games, yes: Netflix described using a phone as the controller. The setup turns a compatible TV into a shared play space, with each participant using a phone to join in. Netflix’s announcement says the games require a Netflix account, a supported TV, and a phone used as the controller; check the service’s current availability information for your country and device before planning a game night.

Why reality TV is a plausible direction
Reality formats already revolve around ingredients that translate naturally into games: social choices, alliances, competition, serialized stakes, and audience participation. Netflix has explored two neighboring uses of those ingredients: interactive fiction connected to reality-show worlds, and group party games played together on TV.
In a September 2025 conference presentation, Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters described several areas of interest: narrative games based on Netflix intellectual property, games for children, game-show-like family play on TV, and distribution of recognized game titles. He described the family-play ambition this way: “We want to give families the opportunity to have essentially the evolution of family game night or the evolution of the game show on TV, brought to you in an interactive place where you cannot just watch but play.”

Peters also said games were contributing to engagement and retention. That helps explain the strategic fit: games can give viewers another way to spend time with Netflix and its properties, while familiar formats can make playing together feel accessible beyond dedicated gamers. It does not, by itself, confirm any particular upcoming title or show.
What Netflix has said it plans for 2026
Netflix’s Q4 2025 shareholder letter, published in 2026, said the company would continue product work on “interactive experiences such as live voting and Moments” and on convenient phone-controlled TV gaming. This is a statement of planned work, not proof that every feature shipped or that live voting is attached to a reality series. The letter identifies Netflix’s quarterly earnings materials as the source for the company’s update.

The wording keeps two possibilities open: interactive features could add participation around entertainment, while phone-controlled games could make TV play easier to start. The company has not, in the cited announcements, confirmed a product that formally combines a live reality show with viewer-controlled outcomes.

The key design question is whether an experience deepens a show’s fictional or social world, or makes watching into an activity. A solo story can let one player shape a character’s choices over time; a party game can create immediate competition among people in one room. Live voting would raise different questions about timing, fairness, and how audience choices affect a program. Those are possibilities to evaluate, not features Netflix has promised.
What to watch for next
The clearest signals will be concrete product announcements rather than broad descriptions of strategy. Look for Netflix to specify whether a feature is tied to a particular show, whether participation is solo or shared, what devices and countries it supports, and whether decisions happen during a live broadcast or in a separate game.
For readers who want the group-play feeling without a supported Netflix TV setup, party board games for game night offer a separate, offline alternative; they are not required to play Netflix’s TV games.
