This ranking judges Arcane’s League of Legends champions by character transformation, agency, thematic importance, and payoff across the completed story—not by their strength in a match. Jinx and Vi lead because their fractured sisterhood is the series’ emotional spine; the order below is an editorial argument, not an official Riot or Netflix ranking.
The list includes only League champions. Arcane also gives important roles to characters who are not champions, so they are not ranked here. Netflix frames the series as the origin story of two iconic League champions who are sisters: Vi and Jinx.
How the ranking works
Each placement weighs four things: how substantially a character changes, how much agency they have in consequential events, how clearly they connect to the series’ themes of family, class, invention, and power, and how much emotional and narrative payoff their story delivers. A high rank does not mean a character is virtuous, powerful, or more popular; it means their characterization makes a particularly strong contribution to Arcane.
1. Jinx
Jinx has the most volatile transformation in the series, and the Powder/Jinx divide gives that change its emotional weight. Her relationship with Vi makes the consequences intimate: the story’s conflicts are not abstract when they threaten the bond that shaped both sisters. That is why she ranks first—not because destruction makes her admirable, but because her identity and choices define so much of the show’s emotional stakes.

Netflix’s description of Arcane as an origin story centered on two champion sisters underscores why Jinx’s arc sits at the heart of the series: Netflix’s character guide.
2. Vi
Vi is compelling because toughness does not free her from vulnerability. Her choices remain bound up with loyalty to her sister and the divide between Zaun and Piltover. She survives by force and resolve, but moving through Piltover’s institutions makes her confront a world that treats the two cities differently.
Riot’s biography describes Vi as a Zaun-raised survivor who becomes an Enforcer and wields hextech gauntlets. That background supports the tension at the center of her character: she carries Zaun with her even when operating within Piltover’s authority. Riot’s Vi biography.

3. Ekko
Ekko makes a strong case as the series’ best-characterized champion outside the sisters. His ingenuity is not just a personal talent; it is connected to defending people and a community he cares about. That gives his inventions a purpose beyond spectacle and makes his resistance to threats facing Zaun feel rooted in responsibility.
Riot’s biography links Ekko’s Z-Drive invention with the Firelights and his efforts to protect his community. His character line, “My devices work best when they don’t work as intended… which is most of the time,” captures his improvisational spirit. Riot’s Ekko biography.
4. Viktor
Viktor’s story is strongest when viewed as a trajectory from idealism toward a vision of transformation—and as a study of what that vision costs. His relationship with Jayce gives those questions a personal dimension: the two are connected by their work, but their changing convictions reveal different ways of understanding invention and its consequences.
Rank #3
- IMMERSIVE CAMPAIGN: Embark on an expansive campaign as heroes of the realm, battling evil forces across 14 main quests for 50-65 hours of thrilling gameplay.
- DIVERSE HEROES: Choose from six distinct heroes, each with unique playstyles and abilities, allowing for dynamic character progression and strategic gameplay.
- COMPANION APP INTEGRATION: The game's companion app seamlessly manages the unfolding campaign, controls monsters, and enhances the storytelling experience, freeing players to focus on their heroic endeavors.
- STUNNING COMPONENTS: Immerse yourself in the adventure with intricately sculpted hero and monster miniatures, along with stunning 3D terrain that brings the world of Terrinoth to life.
- HIGH REPLAYABILITY: Experience interactive storytelling that influences the world around you, ensuring each playthrough offers new surprises and challenges.
Ranking Viktor here recognizes the force of that transformation without flattening him into a simple villain. His appeal lies in the tension between the promise of change and the danger of pursuing it without regard for its human cost.
5. Caitlyn
Caitlyn provides a valuable view of Piltover’s institutions because she is both shaped by them and capable of questioning how power is used. Her partnership with Vi puts their differing backgrounds into contact, making the divide between Piltover’s formal order and Zaunite survival more than a political backdrop.

Those traits make her a natural counterpoint to Vi: one approaches problems through the institutions of Piltover, while the other has been shaped by life in Zaun. Riot’s Caitlyn biography.

6. Jayce
Jayce belongs near the center of any discussion of Arcane’s invention story. His ambition draws him into public responsibility, and his changing partnership with Viktor links personal loyalty to decisions with wider consequences. His placement reflects the weight of those choices, even when his arc is less emotionally immediate than the sisters’ story.
Jayce’s importance comes from the gap between creating something transformative and being prepared to govern its effects. His choices make hextech a question of responsibility as well as achievement.
Why Jinx ranks above Vi—and why the order is debatable
Jinx ranks first because the series’ central emotional conflict turns so directly on her transformation and her bond with Vi. Vi ranks a close second because she gives that conflict its opposing force: her loyalty, survival, and movement through Piltover make the fracture between the sisters and their cities tangible. Readers who value steadiness, moral perspective, or the story’s bridge between Zaun and Piltover may reasonably put Vi first.
Likewise, Ekko can claim the top spot outside the sisters because his ingenuity is tied to collective care, while Viktor and Jayce can trade places depending on whether a reader gives greater weight to personal transformation or political consequence. These are judgments about characterization and payoff, not objective measurements.
Where other Arcane characters fit
Arcane’s ensemble includes major characters beyond these six, but a champions-only list needs a clear eligibility boundary. Ambessa, Heimerdinger, Warwick, and Singed may be relevant to broader character rankings; their inclusion here depends on the precise roster rule being used. This ranking sticks to the six champions above rather than treating every prominent speaking character as a League champion. Riot’s promotional material offers a useful cross-check, but the available official pages do not establish a complete roster of every speaking character: Riot’s League news.
