Rockstar lists the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date of November 19, 2026. It labels PS5 “Plays Best On,” but that positioning does not mean Xbox is unsupported or that you need a premium accessory. Rockstar’s official game page does not confirm a PC version or the game’s resolution and frame-rate targets.
Start with the console and equipment you already own
Rockstar’s current platform listing names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Based on that listing, players on PS4 or Xbox One would need a supported current-generation console to play; the official materials cited here do not confirm a PC version. See Rockstar’s GTA VI page for the current platform and release-date listing.
Once you have a listed platform, think about what actually limits your setup. If your screen is too small or poorly suited to your room, a display may make the biggest visible difference. If your controller feels uncomfortable, consider a different one. If long sessions make your ears tired, prioritize headset fit. None of these upgrades is established as necessary to play the game.
Choose a display for your room, not an unconfirmed game spec
The display is the biggest potential visual upgrade, but there is no confirmed GTA VI requirement for OLED or 4K in the official game and PlayStation materials reviewed here. Rockstar has not published the game’s resolution or frame-rate target in those sources, so buying a high-end screen cannot be justified as a way to meet a stated GTA VI specification.

When a TV makes more sense
The TechRadar article names the LG C5 OLED TV as a display option. A TV is the natural fit if you play from a sofa and want a larger screen. Before choosing any model, check that its inputs and features work with your console and that the screen size suits your viewing distance and room lighting. OLED is a preference, not a GTA VI prerequisite.
When a monitor makes more sense
For desk play, TechRadar names the 32-inch Alienware AW3225QF 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor. A monitor can suit a closer viewing position and a desk-sized setup; check its console connectivity and whether its size and features are worth the cost to you. The cited recommendation does not establish that GTA VI will output at 4K or that this monitor has a game-specific advantage.

Keep the standard DualSense in the running on PS5
PlayStation says GTA VI uses the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and mentions its integrated speaker. Those are platform-feature claims, not independent test results. Mary Yee, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in a June 24, 2026 PlayStation.Blog post: “Grand Theft Auto VI will play best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5’s immersive features to deliver a deeply engaging single-player experience when it launches on November 19.”
The DualSense Edge is TechRadar’s premium PS5 controller pick, but the sources do not identify an Edge-exclusive GTA VI feature. Consider it for your personal preference in controls and ergonomics—not because the game has been shown to require it. If your standard DualSense suits you, the official game-feature description gives no reason by itself to replace it.

On Xbox, treat the controller pick as a preference
TechRadar names the ASUS ROG Raikiri II as its Xbox controller option. That is an editorial recommendation, not an official GTA VI requirement or confirmation of specific third-party controller support details. Check current console compatibility and the controller’s layout and controls before buying; choose it only if those suit how you play better than your current controller.
Pick a headset by comfort and platform compatibility
TechRadar names the Audeze Maxwell 2 and notes that variants are intended for PlayStation and Xbox. Confirm that you are buying the version compatible with your console, then weigh comfort, fit and your audio preferences. The recommendation is not based on an independent test of the headset in GTA VI.

PlayStation separately describes Tempest 3D AudioTech as a PS5 feature. That platform-level description is not a test of this headset or a promise about a particular in-game audio effect. Treat the Maxwell 2 as an optional headset choice, not a required upgrade.
