Playing it on a PC means using an emulator, where graphics and frame-rate settings may be adjustable but results depend on the game version, emulator, settings, and hardware. Nintendo Switch is the straightforward supported console option, with TV, tabletop, and handheld modes.
What “Breath of the Wild on PC” means
There is no native PC version in the cited official product information. PC play discussed here is emulation: Cemu emulates the Wii U version, while Ryubing is a Switch emulator. Neither is a PC port, and their capabilities should not be treated as evidence of identical performance or image quality.
Cemu’s graphics packs offer controls for resolution, shadow resolution, and anti-aliasing. A cited community configuration file defaults to 1280 × 720 at a 16:9 aspect ratio; that is a configuration default, not a universal rendering resolution for PC or Switch. The Cemu guide says higher resolution increases computational demands, while shadow settings trade visual detail against performance. Cemu graphics packs and Cemu’s Breath of the Wild guide explain these options.
Ryubing’s documentation describes general Switch-emulator enhancements such as resolution scaling, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, scaling filters, shader caching, and aspect-ratio adjustment. These are emulator features, not a measured result for Breath of the Wild on a particular PC. Ryubing documentation

Graphics: more configurable on PC, not guaranteed better
Emulation can provide more adjustable image settings than the cited Nintendo Switch listing specifies. On Cemu, users can change resolution, shadows, and anti-aliasing; higher settings may make edges and details appear cleaner, but require more from the computer. The actual outcome depends on the PC, emulator, game build, and chosen settings.
Nintendo’s Switch product page confirms TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes but does not state technical resolution figures. A precise resolution-to-resolution comparison cannot be made from those product specifications. Nintendo Australia’s Switch listing

Performance: a 60 FPS setting is a target, not a promise
Cemu’s FPS++ option is set to 60 FPS by default in the cited guide, which also warns that it can cause issues and recommends setting the limit to 30 if problems occur. The PC must still be capable of running the game at the selected settings; the guide describes Breath of the Wild as demanding, particularly at higher resolutions and frame rates. Cemu’s Breath of the Wild guide
There is also a gameplay trade-off: FPS++ changes the game to allow a dynamic frame rate, while the game’s physics expect a largely constant timestep. Cemu’s compatibility notes explain that changing the frame rate can affect physics and other behavior; limiting FPS++ to 30 or disabling it may help with issues. A higher frame rate is therefore not automatically equivalent to the original gameplay or trouble-free. Cemu compatibility notes

Nintendo’s cited Switch listing does not specify a frame rate. No controlled, matched PC-versus-Switch benchmark is available in the cited sources, so there is no sound basis here for a universal FPS claim. User-submitted emulator configurations and observations are not representative measurements.
Which option fits your priorities?
| Priority | PC emulation | Nintendo Switch |
|---|---|---|
| Adjustable image settings | Cemu graphics packs support resolution, shadow resolution, and anti-aliasing; higher settings raise hardware demands. | Nintendo lists supported play modes but does not provide technical resolution figures on the cited product page. |
| Higher frame-rate option | Cemu FPS++ defaults to a 60 FPS setting; performance depends on the system, and the guide warns of possible issues. | The cited Nintendo listing does not specify frame rate. |
| Gameplay consistency | Frame-rate changes can affect timestep-dependent physics; settings may need to be reduced or disabled if problems occur. | Official console play modes are listed by Nintendo. |
| Portability and play setup | Depends on the PC or device and the individual setup; there is no universal portable-PC conclusion. | TV, tabletop, and handheld modes are supported. |
For a supported console experience without emulator configuration, Switch is the simpler route. For someone prepared to configure emulation and accept hardware- and compatibility-dependent results, PC offers more graphics controls. The best choice depends on whether adjustable settings or straightforward supported play matters more.

Switch 2 Edition: a separate upgrade
Nintendo describes a Switch 2 Edition with improved resolution, frame rates, and HDR, but the cited pages give no numerical output specifications. It is a separate upgrade that requires the Nintendo Switch game; it should not be confused with a PC edition. Nintendo Australia’s listing and Nintendo UK’s listing

To establish how one setup compares with another, a benchmark would need to hold the scene, hardware, game version, emulator version, graphics settings, and measurement method constant. Without that matched test, specific claims that PC is a certain number of frames faster—or always looks better—go beyond the available evidence.
