Why Promised Consort Radahn is the hardest boss for many players
Radahn is the clearest answer when someone asks which Shadow of the Erdtree boss is hardest: two cited guides support that conclusion, with Dot Esports putting him at number one. Still, the sources do not establish a universal winner or a statistical ranking based on player outcomes.
His difficulty can change with the character and preparation brought into the encounter. PowerPyx specifically discusses level, build, Scadutree Fragments and whether NPC questlines have unlocked summons as factors that influence the fight. That makes a single ranking useful as a starting point, not a prediction of how difficult Radahn will be for every player.

Commander Gaius

How to make the DLC’s fights more manageable
PowerPyx recommends level 150 or higher for entering the DLC, and advises collecting as many Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ash Blessings as possible. These are guide recommendations, not entry requirements or a universal minimum level. PowerPyx says Scadutree Fragments provide permanent damage negation in the Realm of Shadow, so gathering them can change how punishing incoming attacks feel.

How to access Shadow of the Erdtree
The expansion requires the Elden Ring base game, according to Bandai Namco. Xbox Wire’s June 20, 2024 walkthrough says access opens after defeating Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touching the withered arm in Mohg’s area.
If you do not own the base game, Bandai Namco describes the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Edition as including Elden Ring and the expansion.
Difficulty is not the same as quality
A difficult encounter is not automatically a better or more skillful one. Dot Esports distinguishes its view of a boss’s quality from its difficulty ranking, and the cited lists are editorial evaluations rather than evidence of player-wide agreement.
