What was The Hunt: Mega Edition?
Roblox announced The Hunt: Mega Edition on March 4, 2025. It combined a community-wide digital treasure hunt with a separate high-stakes competition for the fastest eligible players.

Players entered through a central Hunt hub, then moved into participating Roblox experiences to complete event-specific quests. Those quests awarded tokens and digital rewards. Clues shared through the event hub and Roblox’s social channels pointed players toward additional games, puzzles, and challenges.
The event was open to a broad Roblox audience, but the million-dollar competition had additional eligibility rules. Players generally needed to be at least 13 years old to compete for the cash prize. Contestants aged 13 to 17 also needed parental consent if they became finalists. The event did not require a purchase; Roblox described it as a skill-based contest with no purchase necessary.
How the Hunt worked
The progression system can be summarized as follows:

- Visit participating Roblox experiences. The public phase ultimately included 25 initial games with event-specific quests.
- Complete quests and collect ordinary tokens. These activities formed the accessible, broad-participation portion of the event.
- Follow clues and solve harder challenges. Information from Roblox’s social channels and the hub directed skilled players toward extra objectives.
- Find Mega tokens. Mega tokens were tied to hidden hub levels and puzzles, adding a more secretive layer beyond simply visiting the participating games.
- Progress through the hub and rewards. Token progress opened additional areas, puzzles, and digital items.
- Compete for leaderboard qualification. The top eligible competitors—not every player who participated—were considered for the live final.
This distinction matters. Completing quests could make someone part of the Hunt’s wider community event, but it did not mean that every participant was directly competing for the $1 million grand prize. The competitive route depended on eligibility and leaderboard performance.
Why the event required more than one Roblox skill
The Hunt deliberately moved between very different styles of gameplay. Roblox identified participating experiences involving genres and mechanics such as:
- First-person shooting
- Tower defense
- Basketball
- Fashion
- Soccer
- Horror
- Obstacle courses
That mixture made the event less like a conventional tournament built around one game. A strong competitor needed to adapt to unfamiliar rules, search for clues, solve puzzles, and handle different kinds of movement and timing challenges. The format rewarded broad Roblox fluency rather than mastery of one particular experience.

Roblox reported that tens of millions of players visited the event hub during the 11-day public run. It also described the event as active around the clock. Roblox gave regional audience figures of approximately 26% APAC, 31% EMEA, and 21% Americas; those figures do not add up to 100%, so they should not be treated as a complete breakdown of the global audience.
The Mega Final: date, format, and winner
The scheduled contest period extended through April 4, 2025, when the live Mega Final was held. Roblox invited the top 10 eligible competitors to its headquarters in San Mateo, California.
The final lasted four hours and used eight rounds. Rather than testing one familiar game repeatedly, the rounds challenged finalists across substantially different Roblox experiences. Roblox specifically cited Super League Soccer, Doors, and Tower of Hell among the experiences used in the final.
The final was livestreamed, allowing the wider Roblox audience to follow the competition. Roblox reported that Ryan, a 20-year-old expert Roblox player and livestreamer from New York, defeated the other nine finalists and won the $1 million grand prize.
In Roblox’s recap, Ryan said that previous experience designing augmented-reality games helped him solve some puzzles. That is his reported background and should not be read as evidence that augmented-reality development experience was required—or that it guarantees success—in The Hunt.

The launch announcement also said that only 50 copies of certain ultra-rare digital items were created for the event. These rewards were part of the Roblox digital ecosystem; The Hunt should not be confused with a physical collector’s box, game disc, official toy line, or event merchandise collection. No event-specific physical product is established by the official material covered here.

No—not as an active event. As of August 12, 2026, the official Roblox experience page says that The Hunt: Mega Edition is officially over and that there are currently no running experiences.

The event used Roblox’s creator ecosystem as one connected competitive landscape. Instead of keeping players in a single title, it linked 25 experiences through a central hub, shared clues, cross-game objectives, hidden areas, and a final that demanded rapid adaptation.
Its scale also showed the difference between a normal Roblox experience and a platform-wide event. Tens of millions of hub visitors could encounter the same broad theme while playing very different games. At the top end, the format turned that wide audience into a qualification path for an in-person final with a life-changing prize.
For ordinary participants, the event was a limited-time hunt for tokens, puzzles, and UGC items. For the small group of eligible leaderboard leaders, it was a multi-genre competition that ended under live-event conditions. Keeping those two parts separate is the key to understanding what The Hunt: Mega Edition actually was.
