The Last Caretaker Skill Guide: What to Unlock First (Early Access 0.8.5)

In Early Access 0.8.5, blueprint tier is only one unlock gate. Learn what the current planner establishes, what remains uncertain, and how to choose safely in-game.

For The Last Caretaker Early Access 0.8.5, do not treat an old “21 tiers” list as a current skill-tree limit or a universal unlock order. A blueprint’s tier is only the player-level threshold for making it available in the Skills menu; spending skill points and meeting any quest prerequisite are separate gates. The most detailed recent community planner is dated October 6, 2026, but its data is third-party, so check the current in-game card before spending points.

How blueprint unlocks work

Plan around three separate questions for each blueprint: whether your level makes it eligible, whether you can pay its skill-point cost, and whether you have completed any required quest. Meeting a tier requirement does not automatically unlock or purchase the blueprint, and a quest gate can still prevent access.

The community planner for Early Access 0.8.5 explicitly separates these requirements. It also says many point costs remain unverified and that some named blueprint unlocks have quest prerequisites. Use the planner as a reference, not as official documentation: The Last Caretaker Tools skill planner.

What current 0.8.5 data establishes

The planner publisher says it checked tier unlocks for 143 blueprints on October 6, 2026. It reports cross-checks against another data source and says 15 tiers matched in-game skill-card footage; those are the publisher’s methodology claims, not independent or official verification.

Question What the 0.8.5 planner reports How to use it
How many blueprint tiers are represented? Tiers for 143 blueprints were checked, according to The Last Caretaker Tools, October 6, 2026. Use the planner’s individual blueprint entries as version-dated reference data; confirm in the game.
What is the highest confirmed tier named? Tier 27, for Bulk Petrol Tank, according to The Last Caretaker Tools, October 6, 2026. This shows why 21 is not a safe current global cap. It does not establish a maximum skill-tree level.
How many skill points does each level award? No reliably confirmed published number, according to The Last Caretaker Tools, October 6, 2026. Check the in-game screen rather than projecting a point reward from level or tier data.
What is the total skill-point budget? No verified total budget, according to The Last Caretaker Tools, October 6, 2026. Do not assume you can eventually unlock every blueprint or calculate a complete build budget from the planner.
Are point costs and quest gates fully documented? Many point costs remain unverified, and some named blueprint unlocks require quests, according to The Last Caretaker Tools, October 6, 2026. Inspect the individual blueprint card and any quest requirement before committing.

What not to assume from older skill guides

A guide titled around “all 21 tiers” describes Early Access v0.5.0. It is a historical snapshot, not a reliable statement of the current tier count or cap. That older guide recommended priorities including the dismantling tool, cables, and early power, but those suggestions should not be carried forward as a confirmed 0.8.5 ranking without checking the current Skills menu: the v0.5.0 21-tier guide.

  • Do not assume Tier 21 is the current endpoint: the 0.8.5 planner reports a confirmed blueprint at Tier 27.
  • Do not infer a fixed point award per level or a total point pool; the reviewed planner does not establish either.
  • Do not equate reaching a tier with buying a blueprint or satisfying its quest gate.
  • Do not rely on a recommendation just because it appeared in a prior patch’s tier ranking. Verify the blueprint card in your installed build.

What should you unlock first?

There is no sufficiently verified current 0.8.5 point-cost and quest-prerequisite dataset here to justify a universal “best first unlock” ranking. Choose based on the bottleneck you are actually hitting, then compare the relevant blueprint cards in the current build. This keeps a practical recommendation from turning an old patch’s preference into a false current rule.

If power is limiting progress

Prioritize a power-related blueprint only when its card is available and it addresses the specific constraint you face. The v0.5.0 guide’s early-power advice is historical; confirm its current tier, cost, and prerequisites before spending.

If crafting or materials are the bottleneck

Look for a blueprint that expands the crafting options you need next, and check whether the unlock itself or its recipe asks for materials you do not yet have. The current planner does not establish every point or material cost, so do not budget from an unconfirmed listing.

Last Friday: Revised Edition – A Board Game by Ares Games 2-6 Players – Board Games for Family 90 Minutes of Gameplay – Games for Family Game Night – for Teens and Adults Ages 14+ - English Version
  • Last Friday Revised Edition is the updated and revised version of our hidden movement, hunting, and deduction board game, inspired by the popular "slasher" horror movie genre. Subtle but important changes to the rules enhance the game balance, giving to the Maniac more opportunities than ever to spread terror in Camp Apache! This revised edition also features new cover art.
  • In the role of young campers during Summer in 1980, five players are challenged to survive a long weekend of terror in a camp in the woods, while one of them takes the role of the undying psychopath hiding in the shadows of the forest.
  • Depending on which of the four “chapters” you play, the goal of the game changes, creating highly engaging gameplay: in some chapters the maniac is trying to find the campers, but in others, they are trying to find him. Each chapter plays out differently as the hunter becomes the prey, and then comes back from the dead looking for revenge.
  • If a player dies during a chapter, they will come back in the next chapter with a different character, adding an additional level of replayability.
  • Last Friday Revised Edition is a game for 2 to 6 players, divided into four chapters full of horror and suspense (“Arrival at the Camp”, “The Chase”, “The Massacre”, and “The Final Chapter”), with a playing time of 30 to 45 minutes per chapter, which you can play individually or together in a long night of terror!

If dismantling or recovery matters to your route

The older guide highlighted a dismantling tool, but that is not proof it remains the best first choice in 0.8.5. Check its present card and weigh it against an immediate power, storage, exploration, combat, or cultivation need.

If several choices look useful

Write down the level gate, point cost, quest requirement, and the bottleneck each choice solves. Prefer an unlock that removes a current obstacle over one whose benefit depends on a later system, unless its prerequisites and cost make it a clear fit for your plan.

Can you respec skill points?

The reviewed sources do not establish a current, reliable respec rule for Early Access 0.8.5. Do not spend on the assumption that points can be refunded. Check the current Skills menu and any in-game explanation of reset or refund options before committing; the older v0.5.0 guide itself cautions readers to verify point details in-game.

A safe checklist before spending

  1. Open the Skills menu and note the game version shown by your current build.
  2. For the blueprint you are considering, inspect its tier or level requirement, point cost, and any quest prerequisite separately.
  3. Confirm that the blueprint solves a present need in your run, rather than relying on an older patch’s recommendation.
  4. If a field is missing or unclear, treat it as unconfirmed instead of estimating from another blueprint or your player level.
  5. Recheck after a game update, since The Last Caretaker is in Early Access and unlock data may change.

Game status and PC requirements

The official site describes The Last Caretaker as a first-person, single-player survival-crafting game in Early Access. It announced on September 9, 2026 that version 1.0 and an Xbox launch are set for Spring 2027; that is an announced schedule, not a guarantee. See the official game site for current status.

If you are checking whether a Windows PC can run the game, use the requirements on the official support page and compare them with the exact hardware listing before buying. A minimum specification is a compatibility baseline, not a recommendation for a particular PC. The support page also states that the developer cannot provide official support for mods or third-party tools or troubleshoot problems they may cause, so the community planner should not be mistaken for an officially supported tool.
