This ranking favors practical damage, useful special properties and staying power, while noting the conditions that make each pick shine. It is an editorial ranking, not an official Nintendo list.
How this ranking works
Weapon attack numbers are only a starting point. Fuse adds the attack power of the fused weapon or object, and some fused items grant an attack boost shown in the inventory. Weapon class also affects damage: the cited mechanics reference describes hidden multipliers of 1.05 for two-handed weapons and 0.75 for spears, applied based on the base weapon. As a result, comparing displayed values alone can mislead; the rankings below focus on each weapon’s role and practical trade-offs rather than claiming a universal damage total. Weapon Strength mechanics reference.
Many surface weapons are decayed by Gloom, while intact counterparts typically differ in strength and durability. Entries below refer to the weapon form named; do not assume a decayed version performs identically. The weapon list provides attack and durability details, including for the Master Sword. Tears of the Kingdom weapon list.
Bonuses can further shift a comparison. The bonus reference describes attack-up and durability-up modifiers, and says Rock Octoroks can restore durability and apply a new bonus to eligible gear. Not every weapon qualifies. Weapon bonus reference.

The 10 best weapons, ranked
1. Master Sword
The Master Sword earns the top spot for dependable utility and its distinctive role in the adventure, rather than an unsupported claim that it leads every damage comparison. It has finite base durability, so it is not accurate to call it unbreakable; its special behavior against Ganondorf makes it particularly valuable in that fight. Fuse it when you want to build damage for ordinary combat, but keep its condition in mind.
2. Savage Lynel Crusher
A powerful two-handed option for players who prioritize heavy hits. Its class’s hidden multiplier means the displayed attack is not the whole comparison, but the slower, committed swings are less convenient when you need quick strikes or a shield ready. Fuse a strong attack component when burst damage matters.
3. Savage Lynel Bow
A top pick for ranged damage and a strong complement to a melee loadout. Its value depends on ammunition and the shot you take, so it is not a substitute for a durable close-range weapon. Save it for targets or openings where ranged pressure is safer or more effective.
Rank #2
- Ultrahand: Using the new Ultrahand ability, Link can pick up, move, and rotate almost any object, and can even attach objects together to create bridges, vehicles, and more!
- Fuse: Magically fuse almost any object to Link’s current weapon, shield, or arrow to increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect. Experiment with lots of different combinations to come up with surprising—and sometimes hilarious—results!
- Ascend: Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him. Rise up through ceilings, hillsides, and even certain enemies to create seemingly impossible shortcuts.
- Recall: Use Recall to make objects in motion move backward through time, letting Link ride fallen boulders skyward, recover thrown weapons, or send projectiles back where they came from.
4. Scimitar of the Seven
This one-handed weapon is a strong choice for players who want reliable melee damage without committing to two-handed swings. Its potential improves when paired with a suitable Fuse component. Treat its availability and repair options as part of the cost of using a special weapon, rather than assuming every unique weapon can receive ordinary bonuses.

The Lightscale Trident is a useful spear for reach and fast attacks. Spears’ hidden class multiplier is lower than their displayed value might suggest, so its advantage is practical reach and attack speed, not automatically the highest damage per hit. A powerful Fuse component helps make it more threatening.
6. Royal Guard’s Claymore
This two-handed weapon is appealing when you want a high-impact option and are willing to manage its condition carefully. Its class multiplier and Fuse build affect the final result, while durability can make an aggressive setup costly over a long exploration session. Use it where a decisive hit matters more than extended uptime.
Rank #3
- The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom
7. Royal Broadsword
A versatile one-handed choice for players who want a balanced melee weapon and the flexibility to use a shield. Its practical value comes from the combination of attack, handling and Fuse potential; the best build depends on the material attached and the enemy you face.
8. Gerudo Scimitar
The Gerudo Scimitar can make a strong Fuse platform for players seeking damage from the combined weapon-and-material setup. Its ranking depends on that setup rather than the base weapon alone, so compare the finished build, including durability, against an intact alternative before committing valuable materials.

The Zora Sword is most compelling when you can take advantage of its special combat condition. That makes it a situational pick rather than a universal recommendation: if you cannot reliably meet that condition, a straightforward weapon may be easier to use. Build around its effect only when your play style can activate it consistently.

10. Eightfold Longblade
The Eightfold Longblade rounds out the list as a useful option for players who value its distinctive combat utility over raw, unconditional damage. It is more specialized than the picks above, so its place depends on whether its effect fits the encounters you choose it for.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choose by the job, not just the number
- For dependable melee: Favor a one-handed weapon if you want to keep a shield available and avoid the commitment of slower swings.
- For heavy hits: Consider a two-handed weapon, but account for its class multiplier, swing timing and durability.
- For reach: A spear can keep distance and attack quickly, though its hidden multiplier means displayed attack is not directly comparable to other classes.
- For maximum damage: Judge the complete Fuse build and target condition, not the base weapon’s inventory number by itself.
- For a long trip: Balance attack against durability; a high-damage weapon that breaks quickly may be less useful than a sturdier alternative.
What to know about weapon bonuses and repairs
Attack-up and durability-up bonuses can change how a weapon compares with another. Rock Octoroks can restore durability and apply a new bonus to eligible equipment, but unique weapons are not all eligible and the reference notes exceptions for some items. Check the weapon’s eligibility rather than assuming the process works on everything. The Master Sword’s finite base durability and special behavior are also reasons not to treat it as an ordinary endlessly reusable weapon.
