Nintendo lists a 14.7 GB download, one-player single-system play, TV, tabletop and handheld modes, supported languages and Save Data Cloud support. The price shown in your eShop can differ because Nintendo Account country determines regional pricing.
A cartridge edition is sold by Super Rare Games. Its £46.20 standard package includes the Switch 2 cartridge, full-colour manual, numbered slipcover and sticker, with 5,000 copies listed. A £64.20 Special Edition adds a double-CD soundtrack, Potboy split-ring, trading cards and a protective clamshell box. Both physical options require waiting for fulfillment: Super Rare currently estimates early November 2026 for the standard edition and mid/late November 2026 for the Special Edition. Those are seller estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates.

What The Midnight Walk is on Switch 2
Fast Travel Games describes the premise, in wording reproduced on Nintendo’s product page, as: “Befriend a lost lantern creature and light your way through a world of wonder and terror.” That description establishes the game’s central relationship and its contrasting atmosphere without promising a particular playtime, performance target or completion length.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing identifies the release as a one-player game for a single system. You can use the console in TV mode, tabletop mode or handheld mode. Nintendo also lists Save Data Cloud support and a set of supported languages on its regional product pages. Because language availability can be presented differently by region, check the Nintendo page for the country attached to your Nintendo Account before buying if a particular language is important.
No authoritative figure for frame rate, total runtime or completion length is established here. Treat any precise claims about those subjects from unsourced listings or comments as unverified rather than as specifications for the Switch 2 edition.
Digital edition: price, download and access
Release and regional price
The digital edition launched on March 26, 2026. Fast Travel Games announced a US Nintendo eShop price of $29.99. That is the US launch price, not a universal global price: Nintendo displays the amount and currency associated with your Nintendo Account country, and regional prices may differ.

Download size and storage planning
Nintendo lists the download at 14.7 GB. Before purchasing, check the free space on the Switch 2’s internal storage or microSD Express card. Leave additional headroom if you routinely keep other large games installed; the listed figure is the game’s stated download size, not a guarantee of the total space used by future updates or system-managed files.
How to buy and start playing
- Open Nintendo eShop on the Switch 2 and confirm that the active Nintendo Account is set to the country whose price and currency you intend to use.
- Search for The Midnight Walk and open the listing. Verify the publisher, Fast Travel Games, and check the displayed local price, download size and supported-language information.
- Complete the eShop purchase. The amount shown at checkout is the relevant regional price; do not assume it will match the announced US $29.99.
- Start the download and confirm that at least 14.7 GB is available, plus practical space for other software and any later update data.
- Launch the game when the download finishes. Nintendo lists TV, tabletop and handheld modes, so choose the mode that matches how you normally use the console.
- If you rely on cloud backups, confirm that your Nintendo Switch Online setup and console settings allow Save Data Cloud use. Nintendo lists the feature for this digital release, but cloud operation still depends on the account and service settings on your system.
Why digital is the quickest option
The digital copy has no seller fulfillment window: once the eShop transaction and download are complete, you can play. It also avoids importing a pound-denominated product and waiting for an international parcel. The trade-off is that your purchase is tied to your Nintendo Account and occupies storage, while a cartridge can be moved between compatible consoles without redownloading the base software.
Standard physical edition from Super Rare Games
Contents and price
Super Rare Games lists the standard physical edition at £46.20. The package contains a Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge, a full-colour manual, a numbered slipcover and a sticker. The listing states a 5,000-copy limit, making this a limited-run package rather than an indefinitely stocked retail release.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.

Release date versus delivery estimate
Super Rare’s listing gives August 13, 2026 as the release date, while its shipping information currently estimates arrival in early November 2026. Those labels describe different points in the process: a listed release date is not the same as the date an individual order reaches you. The shipping estimate is the more useful planning guide for a buyer placing an order now, but Super Rare does not present it as a guarantee.

What the cartridge changes
The physical edition gives you a cartridge and printed materials instead of an eShop download as the primary purchase format. It is suited to players who lend or display games, prefer collecting numbered releases or want to keep a boxed copy. The available information does not establish whether a particular update is required before play, so do not assume that every future patch or system requirement will be contained entirely on the cartridge.
Region compatibility
Super Rare Games states that its products are region free on Switch 2. That means the cartridge is not restricted to one Switch 2 console region according to the seller’s policy. Your ability to access a specific eShop service, language option or update can still depend on your Nintendo Account country and system configuration.

Special Edition: what the extra £18 buys
The Special Edition is listed at £64.20, £18 more than the £46.20 standard package. It includes the physical game and adds four collector-focused items:
- A Potboy split-ring.
- A double-CD soundtrack.
- Trading cards.
- A protective clamshell box.
Super Rare’s shipping page currently estimates this edition for mid/late November 2026. As with the standard package, that is an estimate and not a promised delivery date. The edition makes sense when the soundtrack, character item and presentation box have value to you; it is not a faster or technically different way to play the game.
Trading cards are a separate optional collectible
Super Rare also lists a trading-card pack separately for £3.30, with a 500-pack limit and an odds statement on the listing. That pack is an optional collectible, not the game and not a substitute for either physical edition. Do not add its price when comparing the standard and Special Edition packages unless you are intentionally buying the separate cards as well.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.

Digital versus physical: the practical trade-offs
| Decision point | Digital | Standard physical | Special Edition |
|---|---|---|---|
| When you can play | After purchase and the 14.7 GB download complete | After the cartridge arrives; current estimate is early November 2026 | After the package arrives; current estimate is mid/late November 2026 |
| Price basis | US launch price $29.99; local eShop amount varies by Nintendo Account country | £46.20, before any applicable shipping or currency-conversion costs | £64.20, before any applicable shipping or currency-conversion costs |
| Storage and format | 14.7 GB download listed by Nintendo | Switch 2 cartridge with printed package materials | Switch 2 cartridge plus collector packaging and extras |
| Collection value | No physical package | Numbered slipcover, manual and sticker; 5,000 copies listed | Special packaging, soundtrack, Potboy split-ring and cards |
| Portability between consoles | Use the Nintendo Account that owns the software and redownload as needed | Carry the cartridge; Super Rare states the product is region free on Switch 2 | Carry the cartridge; the same region-free statement applies |
This comparison does not establish a performance difference between formats. The available specifications describe access method, storage, packaging and timing, not different frame-rate or image-quality targets.
How to choose before placing an order
Choose digital if immediate access matters most
- You want to play as soon as possible rather than wait until November estimates.
- Your Switch 2 has room for a 14.7 GB download.
- You prefer a purchase managed through Nintendo eShop and do not need a boxed collectible.
- The local eShop price shown for your Nintendo Account is acceptable.
Choose the standard physical edition if you want the cartridge and numbered package
- You are comfortable waiting for the current early-November 2026 delivery estimate.
- The cartridge, manual, numbered slipcover and sticker matter more than a soundtrack or display box.
- You want a limited-run item listed at 5,000 copies.
- You prefer the £46.20 package over paying for collector extras.
Choose the Special Edition if the extras justify the premium
- You specifically want the double-CD soundtrack, Potboy split-ring, trading cards and clamshell box.
- You accept the £64.20 price and the later mid/late-November estimate.
- You are buying for display or collecting, not because it offers a different game experience.
Buying and delivery checks
- For digital, verify the Nintendo Account country, local price, 14.7 GB size and language list before confirming payment.
- For physical, verify that the listing is the Switch 2 edition and note whether you are selecting the £46.20 standard package or £64.20 Special Edition.
- Read the seller’s current shipping estimate at checkout. Early November for standard and mid/late November for Special Edition are estimates that can move.
- For an international order, account for the fact that the listed prices are in pounds sterling and that delivery timing can vary by destination.
- Keep the order confirmation and monitor seller updates rather than treating the August 13 release-date field as your personal arrival date.
What is not established by the available specifications
Nintendo’s product information confirms the download size, modes, player count, languages and Save Data Cloud support. It does not provide an authoritative completion-time figure in the information used here. There is likewise no confirmed performance table establishing frame rate, resolution or differences between digital and cartridge formats. If those details determine your purchase, wait for a clearly identified official specification rather than relying on an uncited number.
Bottom line
Buy digital if you want The Midnight Walk on Switch 2 immediately and have room for its 14.7 GB download; use the Nintendo eShop price shown for your account as the real cost. Buy the £46.20 standard physical edition if the cartridge, numbered 5,000-copy package and printed materials are worth waiting for. Choose the £64.20 Special Edition only when its soundtrack and collector extras justify the additional £18 and the later estimated delivery.
