The shutdown applies to the service, not just its Nintendo Switch release; after the cutoff, game data including Jewels and items will no longer be available.
Which Nintendo Switch game is shutting down?
It is THE NEW DENPA MEN, a free-to-play RPG developed by Genius Sonority. The game launched on Nintendo Switch on July 22, 2024, followed by iOS and Android on March 10, 2025, and Nintendo Switch 2 on April 6, 2026, according to Gematsu. The developer describes the announcement as an end of service, so it should not be read as a shutdown limited to the original Switch version.

When does THE NEW DENPA MEN shut down?
Genius Sonority’s official End of Service Announcement, dated October 5, 2026, sets the cutoff for Monday, December 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Japan Standard Time. Because Japan is ahead of North America across the date line, the same instant is Sunday, December 6, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time and 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, as reported by Gematsu. These are two local dates for one shutdown moment, not conflicting deadlines.

Any in-game event that is still running at the official cutoff will end partway through. Players should use the stated time zone for their location rather than relying on the calendar date alone.

What should players do before service ends?
Use paid Jewels before the cutoff
Paid-item sales ended October 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. JST. Players can no longer buy paid items. The developer recommends using paid Jewels before service ends; after the cutoff, in-game data such as Jewels and items will no longer be available.
Keep the app installed and save your Support ID
Genius Sonority asks players not to delete or reinstall the app on a new device until the refund procedure for unused paid currency is complete, because the company may need player data to verify inquiries. The Support ID can be viewed in the app’s Support section through March 31, 2027. Keep a record of it and retain access to the app while waiting for refund instructions.

Yes. Genius Sonority says the unused paid portion of in-game currency will be refunded under Article 20, Paragraph 1 of Japan’s Payment Services Act. The company has not yet announced the claim period or the steps for requesting a refund; it says those details will be posted on its official website after service ends. The announcement promises a refund for the unused paid portion, not for items or other game data.
Why is the game ending?
The developer said it concluded that continuing to provide a service meeting players’ expectations would be difficult. Its October 5 notice does not give a financial reason, so claims that the shutdown was caused by revenue or commercial failure are not established by that announcement.
