The Rogue Prince of Persia is no longer an upcoming Steam Early Access game: it launched in Early Access on May 27, 2024, and reached version 1.0 on August 20, 2025. As of October 8, 2026, developer Evil Empire says the September anniversary update was the game’s final update.
What is The Rogue Prince of Persia?
The Rogue Prince of Persia is a 2D action-platforming roguelite developed by Evil Empire and published by Ubisoft. Ubisoft describes Evil Empire as a French independent studio known for its post-launch work on Dead Cells; the credited developer of this game is Evil Empire, not Dead Cells’ original studio, Motion Twin. Steam’s game listing and Ubisoft’s 1.0 announcement describe its acrobatic combat, wall-running and parkour. Runs take place in procedurally generated levels, and players can change builds between attempts.

The official descriptions also list more than 100 unlockable weapons and medallions. These are publisher-stated features, not an independent assessment of how the game plays.
When did it leave Early Access?
Steam lists May 27, 2024 as the Early Access release date and August 20, 2025 as the full release date. Ubisoft said version 1.0 followed more than a year in Early Access and over 15 major updates informed by community feedback.

Is The Rogue Prince of Persia still getting updates?
No further updates are planned, according to Evil Empire’s September 24, 2026 developer announcement. The studio said its September 17 anniversary update was the final one, combining the most important parts of two previously planned updates into a single release.
Evil Empire also reported that more than one million players had played the game. That is the studio’s player figure, not a sales count or an independent measurement.

Which platforms and editions are available?
Ubisoft announced the 1.0 release for PC and consoles on August 20, 2025, then announced Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 digital availability for December 16, 2025. Its April 10, 2026 announcement lists physical Standard and Immortal Editions for PS5, Switch and Switch 2.

What does the PC version require?
Steam’s listed Windows minimum requirements are Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor, 8 GB RAM, a GTX 950 or RX 5500 XT graphics card, DirectX 11 and 5 GB of storage. Requirements can change; check the Steam listing for the current details.
